The Generation of Superhumans - Can We Edit Our Genes?
Subscribe to Science Time: / sciencetime24
New technologies have considerably improved scientists' ability to locate the genetic variations that distinguish our DNA from that of other people. In some instances, these genetic differences give rise to diverse superhuman abilities. There is growing interest in identifying genes associated with special abilities, many of which seem to be inherited. Some consider people like Wim Hof a.k.a the iceman known for the Wim Hof method as a person with superhuman abilities.
As for the future, according to prominent scientists within 30 years, it will probably be possible to make essentially any kind of change to any kind of genome.

‘The Boys’ already answered this question. Less of a ‘ _can_ we’ and more of a ‘ _should_ we’ problem. The technology surrounding gene editing is a gamble, we’ve no idea what unintended consequences may follow.

@ittybittyshinystar Жыл бұрын
If we can, we absolutely *SHOULD*. I see people saying they don't want to let this technology fix genetic diseases because of some straight-up fucking retarded reasons like "the right to have illneses and uniqueness". If I had been born in the future, with a preventable genetic disease, where gene editing was a possibility but someone said they fought so that it was abolished for moral reasons, I'd punch the fucker in the face
@TheRockyCrowe
@TheRockyCrowe Жыл бұрын
@@ittybittyshinystar I totally get you. I want to see genetic disease eliminated too BUT the sketchy mechanics behind how we’re gonna make that reality is a major problem. Like for example let’s say we eradicate the problematic genes that lead to cerebral palsy, and it’s successful but then a decade or so later down the road those cured of this disease in utero are now dealing with other autoimmune disorders and/or cancers - because when one gene 🧬 is edited it can potentially unlock other expressions. That’s what I mean by a gamble. The issue with trans-human stuff like hulk strength or spawning wings or whatever is a whole nother’ societal issue altogether.

The generation of superhumans through gene editing involves using advanced technologies like CRISPR-Cas9 to enhance human traits, improve health, and potentially grant new abilities. While the capability to edit genes offers exciting possibilities for addressing genetic disorders and enhancing physical or cognitive traits, it also raises significant ethical and practical concerns. Questions about safety, long-term effects, and the implications for societal inequality and natural evolution are central to this discussion.

Actually, us humans have such a great track record I can see why you all would say no problem with this, it will make super humans. Oh,but those ol facts about how humans have been so perfect and have always been able to know in advance what their actions will bring are non-existent. There is no stopping any of this, of course, but to believe humans can handle such power is childish, in itself. What Can go wrong, will go wrong, where humans are concerned.

I've heard of people who don't need deodorant (useful for space travel to say the least) and others who only need a few hours of sleep to function normally. There's no reason to believe that natural selection has optimized us for modern goals - we must carry the torch from here. Don't let so-called "ethicists" stunt our progress.

I'm not asking for money I do believe I have to potential to trigger these genes by willpower since I was young I always pushed myself to the limits. I feel with a lab and many blood test I can produce these genes through meditation and focus and I believe my blood test will prove this I am currently focusing on this knowledge I do notice a big difference I even straightened my spine by myself and cured my scholiosis and made my bones stronger through rough conditioning my pain tolerance is higher and my given the chance I think I'd be a great candidate for the study of science based on myself no need of drugs I should be able to activate these genes and the blood test should show results
