100% agree on Belos being terrifying because he's not a typical Saturday Morning cartoon villain. He's very real and people like him exist in real life *cough*Netanyahu*cough* It also makes me think of Hazbin Hotel. The angels claim the exterminations are to "reduce overpopulation in hell" but it's clear it's because of their prejudice against sinners. And as Adam, the lead exorcist says himself, "extermination is entertainment." Free Palestine. Free The Congo. Free Sudan.

I LOVE this video! It’s so good and I agree with many of the statements Also for me I love hollow mind because of the showing in how different people think and act and properly portraying things (ex: hunters panic attack at the end of the episode) I also love the way of telling two story’s in one episode showing us belos’s backstory a While a current one being told I love how the whole episode hunter is in denial and Luz and trying to help in and in the end it switches to Luz in denial and Hunter eventually saving her from getting hurt by belos also apposed to others belos is my favorite villain albeit a terrible person and none of his actions are justified but he is so scary and is done/written so well which is why I love his character Anyways I’d love to see more stuff like this! :3

Hollow mind to me was so great because it was THE shatter episode. This is belos at very nearly his most manipulative and honestly evil. Hunter got trauma, Luz got trauma, it introduce what was going to happen on the day of unity and raised the stakes for the rest of the show. Like, the episode before this was a cute filler story of eda and raine, and then this BOMBSHELL drops. Doesn’t beat out thanks to them as my personal favorite episode but definitely one of the owl house greats

You talked so much of how the designs, voice acting, and overall tone play really well into the horror aspect of this episode. And honestly, similarly, your editing, music choice, and voice recording did the exact same thing and really captivated me (shoutout to you using Death Note music, I love that show's soundtrack). And things really hit me with the last note you made when you started talking about real life atrocities happening even today. It really left me silently staring at my screen in deep thought. It really shows how Belos is such a realistic villain

I thoroughly enjoyed your video, and love the points you made in it. I do not doubt your good intentions, which makes me interested in having a discussion. In light of that, I am interested, what's makes you view people of Palestine, as an unconditional oppressed, similar to real life native Americans, witches of the Boiling Isles or Jews during WWII, rather than a wounded group of people, unable to strike a compromise with with their neighbour and repeatedly returning to violence in order to force their will.

I simply think the people of palestine being relentlessly bombed is bad and that Netanyahu has explicitly called for the extermination of the Palestinian people. Also if you look into the conditions of the west bank it is apartheid. South Africa (aka the country that experienced apartheid) has stated this as well. www.amnesty.org/en/latest/campaigns/2022/02/israels-system-of-apartheid/

I absolutely agree with this! The reason Belos is one of the scariest Disney villains is because people like him have and do exist! As iconic as Bill Cipher is and as terrifying as it would be if a psychotic interdimensional God-like being appeared and took over our world having a singular human villain who started from nothing to having rule and dictatorship over a land is one of the most terrifying things that can happen. It also mixes up the classic isekai story trope where the antagonist is not human, from another world, and tries to invade Earth (Bill Cipher, The Core & King Andrias, Omni-Man, Initially the Diamonds, etc.). It creates this concept that humans are less capable of evil just because they don't have superpowers. The only reason Belos does is because he used twisted, messed up forms of magic on himself! And the fact that he's human only adds more weight to Luz's guilt over her mistakes and fear that she may be as bad as him! It's great writing, storytelling, and one of the reasons why so many people love the show!

The reveal of Belos being a Witch Hunter is in my opinion, the best twist in the series. It feels out of left field, yet makes so much sense in hindsight. Hunter being a grimwalker of Caleb was a twist we saw with lots of hints, and it blinded us to the even bigger whammy of Belos being this religiously motivated (It is implied he is a witch hunter because of religious motivations, since Connecticut at the time was a Puritan colony, and Puritans were intensely religious) bigot who believes his actions are just because they are in the name of a righteous cause. Belos reminds me a lot of Judge Frollo, in that they believe they are ridding the world of sin. The idea of a witch hunter who believes he has come to hell and it is his duty to destroy it from the inside is brilliant! I really wish the show was allowed to delve into more religious themes because I think it adds to Belos' character. He doesn't see witch and demons as living beings, to him, their a virus, a sickness that actual people need to be cured of. It also is sickening to see how Belos really views Hunter. I think a part of Belos wants Caleb, but he really wants his idea of Caleb. A Caleb that agrees with his mindset and gives Belos a sense of normalcy. Having his brother constantly at his side at the age he wants him as as a way to remember the 'good ol' days.

watched the whole thing....THIS IS SUCH A GOOD VIDEO =0] WE STAN ANTI COPYRIGHT STRINGBEAN The talk mascot horror is sooo true tho, there's a reason why we have fnaf, poppy playtime, amanda the adventurer, indigo park, lost episode/creepypastas of our favorite cartoon shows such as red mist, max and ruby 0004, the greiving, dead bart, candle cove, and so much more. There's a reason why there's a whole bunch of iceberg videos about gen z trauma. The talk about Palestine, Sudan, Congo, and all the other places that are being oppressed is such a good comparison to belos and hollow mind in general. I also sometimes feel like I'm not doing enough for these causes because of not being able to go to protests, being able to donate money online, share tiktok videos because I don't have an account and I just watch an up to date tiktok comp for my knowledge on stuff. The only thing I have been able to do was boycott the best I can because no matter how much I tell my parents , they will still go to places that support isn'treal because they don't care, sign petitions online that advocate and support the causes as well as a permanent cease fire, and clicking this daily button that tells an organization to keep donating to the Palestinians. I am a cis, white, neurodivergent [autism], floridian, lesbian with misophonia to whispering, shushing, or when people go pspsps/psst So I know how it feels to be bullied, harassed, and other things ever since elementry school BUT I do know other people have it so much worse than I do and I love helping the best of my ability even if it's just listening to somebody. I have been trying to use the privileges I have to help the people who are less fortunate than I am but I still have a lot to learn and i'm loving the journey I am taking in life. Anyways this was an amazing video and I look forward to supporting what you have next plus I checked out the links in your description. Have a nice day Also, Free Palestine. Congo. Sudan, and all the other places out there.

On the linked video - I agree with "Villain backgrounds should be explanation not just excusing bad behaviour." Too many villains especially in Disney have been white washed in recent years. Villains don't always need to have a good reason to do bad things, and we shouldn't accept bad outcomes because of a bad childhood. The true monsters are those with no empathy, or those that do have empathy but actively suppress it for their own selfishness.

Very well done essay. It really gets into why Belos is not just A evil, but a representation of an everlasting evil that will not fade. He has his personal goals and revenge, but he shows just how evil his mindset can be. It's something not unique to him, which is terrifying. We can defeat him, but his views can easily rise in another. All the real world comparisons made to him are apt because that mindset is easily shared.

I'm still confused as to why we never get to see how Hunter made it out of the ground in Hollow Mind tho.
@emmarywarner16
@emmarywarner16 3 ай бұрын
I mean we do, when Hunter got sucked under into the ground, Eda's jacket went with him along with all the glyphs Luz had. He used the plant/ice glyphs to burst from the ground, which also protected Luz.
@svgaming263
@svgaming263 3 ай бұрын
@@emmarywarner16 sure that's a great THEORY, but we DON'T get to see that. We don't know what it was like under the surface. If he was literally in the ground then he wouldn't have been able to use the glyphs, let alone breathe, so there's a whole lot that happened which we didn't see.

@@emmarywarner16 and if he could use them then that implies there is alot more beneath the surface that we didn't see. Also the fact that the reason Hunter got saved was "he uses random glyths off screen and the glyphs pull him out of the ground (which is something they've never done before)", while it is what happened, it is not a good reason. I would've preffered if him using the glyphs was as you said "literally what happened in the episode" but it happened off screen and was never even mentioned, which still means it is just a theory.
@emmarywarner16
@emmarywarner16 3 ай бұрын
@@svgaming263 It's still not a theory though. It doesn't really need to be shown or mentioned why it happened, especially when we are shown visually what he did in the episode. We can see him pop out of the ground and you can see him holding the jacket and the glyphs in his hands. Very much a show don't tell type of scene.
