Sean Clarke is one of the very best drummers in NOLA today, playing the authentic New Orleans traditional drumming style, with some later "hot jazz" Chicago style thrown in for good measure. First time I saw him was with the great Panorama Jazz Band. Then I found out that Greg Garrison is their regular drummer, who's just as good. But Greg never smiles, and Sean has a wonderful, infectious smile. So I commended they should hire Sean to give smiling lessons to Greg.

It may not be widely known, but Country Joe and the Fish borrowed a few bars of melody from Muskrat Ramble for their late 1960s antiwar hit, "I Feel Like I'm Fixin' to Die Rag". "And it's one-two-three-what are we fightin' for - don't ask me, I don't give a damn, next stop is Vietnam" and so on. With calliope in the arrangement. By the way, the Gentilly Stompers do a great rendition of the classic tune. Excellent band!!

Great musicians. Do the Busker bands ever get together? Thinking about Tuba Skinny but I suspect there is competiton between this band and Shaye Cohen's band that would preclude that happening. Haruko has much better tone/technique than Barnabus Jones although don't want to offend him. Also Miles is certainly a more adept tuba player. Big hole here because no clarinet player and Erika Lewis on vocals would be an outstanding addition. Thank you so much for inspirational delight.
@stewartfenton76604 жыл бұрын
Terry Garrett, re competition, I hope and think the New Orleans jazz scene is not like that, and there's respect, admiration, and a desire to play together among most musicians. I only clocked in to TS and all a few months ago, but would guess if we wait long enough we will see this band, or members of it, jamming with TS and just about anyone else you can think of.

So the guy, the bandleader is a female named Catie. Kind of turns me off as at first I thought the band leader was a man, when looking at it, then when it talks/sang it sounded like a really gay guy. Then I noticed the vest was hiding its tits. I'm grossed out. I admit sheheit sounds like a pleasant person. But still, I'm not ready for these shenanigans so I'm otta here, for now at least. Maybe I'll come back.

When I posted that I'd only heard the trombone solo in the 1st tune. Then I heard "Margie". If you're referring to the trumpet player, I agree she shouldn't sing, but she plays fine, too.
@Marathonracer7 жыл бұрын
Raymond Biller There are two females in this very talented band, Catie Rogers, trp/leader/vocals and Haruka Kikuchi, tmb. and they both play very fine solos. PERIOD. Catie is the vocalist, not the "soloist" , if that's who you mean - all the band members take solos- and she knows how to "sell the song".
