Great video..I would only change to always rotate the hands to have them pointing forward rather.than backwards during the full rotation.to avoid damage to the biceps

Love GH. I always end my training sessions with 5 times GH in the rings. But I can only hang for 5-10 secs before it gets too intense

Hi. Can achieve this level of flexibility with a dip bar?
@rodrigoluizdesouza789 Жыл бұрын
I think the bonus exercise can be performed on rings as well; it looks a lot like the pelican curl. Although I think it's more easily scalable with dumbbells.

Great video! I was looking for a simple progression to integrate this 'skill' into my workout, starting from the basics. I am in fact a beginner, so I would use this exercise as a skill at start of my training routine, to conditionate my tissue... And also for fun :). Thank you

It is very important not to rush into the final position as Tom mentioned. The first time I did the German hang I went straight to it with no conditioning, and very little mobility, then I was only doing weight lifting, and I completely detached my bicep tendon on one of my arms. That was years ago when I was starting to switch from weight lifting to calisthenics, I am way more respectful of the moves now. 😅

I just recently found your videos and I really like them Tom! You are really calm and make me feel like the excercises that you show are hard though achievable, instead of the goals being out of reach. That said, I wondered if you had any tips regarding weight loss? I want to lose weight and become lean, but I don't necessarily want to become more muscular like a body builder. In my student years I've gained more than 10kg and it is time to change that. I hope that you can help me, you've at least given me motivation!

@BodyweightWarrior6 жыл бұрын
playermartin286 id say that this is unlikely an issue and almost impossible to diagnose as the psoas then strengthen just the psoas. You might have a weakness in hip flexion between sides which is not uncommon though but that involves much more musculature :)

Until you mention it, it did not really click. This is a really good stretch, THX Tom. Hey Tom, have you done a planche tutorial in depth? I have seen some online but, I feel stuck. I cannot get my body too much forward. I know it requires shoulder strength but cannot find a good way to train them to transfer to the planche, also I am doing it with fingers pointed towards my body. Any suggestions?

How low a ring flop is it safe to "drop into" a German hang from? I can do 40 degree ring flops multiple times but I'd like to transition into other positions from this instead of just back to the support hold with RTO. How controlled must one's descent be to prevent damaging oneself? I may try this with some band support first just to feel it out or get someone to spot me. I'm nearly 54, 80-85 kg and 180 cm. I can support hold with RTO for 30 s quite easily, and also L-sit with RTO and a slightly backward lean, plus I skin the cat from a 4 finger front lever on rings, just to give an idea of my strength and mobility on them.

Nicely done! Do variations of pelican curls help to develop the german hang? How to train the shoulder movement of the biceps (i.e. how to include the shoulder movement of the biceps in biceps curls?)

@igorspoljaric39686 жыл бұрын
It may acctually be due to tightness of your pec minor, search on youtube or google for some videos on how to check if you have a tight pec minor and how to release/stretch it. I have a similar problem so that might be yours too. Hope I helped a little bit

Hey Tom, your videos are so helpful! I’d love a video explaining your thoughts on different diet patterns like whole foods plant based, paleo, keto, low carb, and high carb. I am personally whole foods plant based but very open to different opinions 🙂 I also understand that it is a controversial topic so no pressure. Time to go work on my atrocious shoulder extension 😂

Could you please elaborate on how wide your grip should be, and also whether you would be actively externally or internally rotating the shoulder? I have really bad shoulder posture (and tight biceps so altering these makes a big difference in the intensity of the stretch for me). Thanks!
@BodyweightWarrior6 жыл бұрын
externally rotating the shoulder and palms (like this video recommends) = larger stretch over fascial train.

Great progression, I am very open in the shoulders, but can't reverse back up if I pullover to hang in my full flexibility, this looks like a safe way to train it. We've been doing straight arm pike to inverse straddles on aerial hoop--I've been training on rings, any thoughts on building straight arm pull strength. Thanks!

Do you have any progressions on roll back through. I seem to get stuck if I allow myself to get to deep.
@AsgerRosendalThorn2 жыл бұрын
Did my first inverted hang today. Accidentally fell into my first ever german hang and now my left triceps and shoulder are burning. Not my right, weirdly, since I have less shoulder extension range in my right side. Luckily my elbow seem all right. Best to rest, stretch or work these overstretched muscles?

@@BodyweightWarrior Cool! Completely unrelated but what do you think is the best bodyweight exercise for the lateral triceps head? Diamond push ups aren't as good as people say.
@ChromiumJewels6 жыл бұрын
gud if you want isolation for the lateral head, look to cable pushdowns. Don't think you can emphasise it any other way in bodyweight other than bodyweight push ups. Could also just be genetics remember
@cithr09636 жыл бұрын
@@ChromiumJewels Yes. I think its mainly due to genetics as well. I've done nothing but drill high volume push ups of various intensities into my body for 2 months straight and even then, all I saw was chest, shoulder and form gains with a little bump that can't be called lateral head. As a college student, I can't afford a gym subscription, so I'll simply hope for it to grow as I get stronger over time.
