I am not surprised by the similarities in the names of the Surinamese and Ghanaian names. After all, many of our people were taken away from Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Benin, Togo and other West African countries, and unto the South American continent.

Now I’m beginning to understand something that I have been looking for answer for some years now, my great-great grandfather and some of his siblings were among those that were kidnapped and were taken to Jamaica, but he managed to escape and found his way back to Ghana, I have been researching the history of slave trade, but I don’t find any of Ga- dangbme trace at the slave trade history I found Akan and other but not Ga-dangbme or ewes because my great great grandfather was Ga-dangbme so times I found it strange that Ga dangbme people were not listed among the tribes that were taken away, I had traced to Jamaica but Ga dangbme people are not there, now I know why they are, I’m sure Tema and Dodowa people will be happy to hear this
