i was one of devon’s three fans at one point. i’m honestly the person that got /mu/ adjacent people into him. there was no lonelier experience in my life than loving this album more than anything else and having 95% of the scrobbles on it, but no one to talk to about it. i literally invested my own money in him to get more people to take TGPT seriously. this album is such a special piece of art for me. thanks for taking the time to make this video!

this album feels like being all depressed and lonely but having a weird relationship with someone even more depressed than you that lives 24/7 in their home and only calls you for sex: at the same time that person is developing emotional dependency to you, so you need to choose betweed continuing to have the only interesting thing about your life or losing it

The chorus of Porn For Percussion is taken from the Lostprophets song Shinobi vs Dragon Ninja. The singer of Lostprophets, Ian Watkins, was imprisoned for possession of cp and animal porn as well as conspiring with a woman to abuse a baby. Dark shit.

i hope after peggy releases the remaster he gets more recognition on his old works / DeVon hendryx era projects. This album and deathconsciousness to me both portray depression in a way that’s so uncomfortably accurate but cathartic to know there’s artist who feel the same way and understand that pain. I’m so happy to see Peggy is doing a lot better now and found an audience, dude deserves every bit of love and attention he gets ❤

The moaning noises in untitled 3 isn’t porn but it’s from a anime I think English dub of ghost stories. It’s one of the characters getting upset at her office job and groaning out of frustration. That’s also where the beeping noises come in as being just printer noises and stuff.

Godly video. For a long time I've wanted to see someone else verify my opinion that this album is beautiful in a way that goes deeper than discussion of the production. I've always believed that this project was better experienced than explained, but you've done the impossible (at least in my eyes). TGPT is a true work of art, and seeing this recognition be found in your video sincerely made me happy. The explanation of God Bless My Homegirls makes a lot of sense to me now, and I think it was incredibly smart. Same goes with the WWE sample at the end of Call Me Maybe. The symbolism of 'neon' is certainly confusing, but after watching your video I scrambled to have a deeper look at the lyrics. I think it could just be a blanket term for anything that brings Peggy comfort but also harms him. Porn, I guess? Not fully sure, but here's my thought process: Neon's shown to be something that's at the forefront of Peggy's mind at all times of the day, which mirrors the effects of a porn addiction. It's a world he is completely consumed in, yet does not wish to change his behavior. At the end of the song when he mentions it getting cut out of him, he goes on to have a fun day with his friends and eats a nice meal. Something to note that I found interesting was that Porn for Percussion used to be called Maladaptive Daydreams (see Gen Y^5), which ties into the idea of him longing to be with someone, so much so that it distracts him from the rest of his duties. It could also be interpreted that 'wanting a girl to take him outside' could be a metaphor for wanting a reason to kill himself that cannot be solely motivated by Peggy. Man, this album is so fucking layered. Keep up the good work!!!

I think in my opinion Neon Kitchen 4 specifically is about a dream world. he mentions how neon makes him comfortable in the first lines and after a few lines he says "neon DREAMS I live for" which happened after saying he passed out on antidepressants (zoloft). I didn't really explain it well but it feels like this whole adventure in a dream. Edit: basically neon means anything in his dream world

i know how pretentious this sounds and ik i’m just bitter but i rmr like 3-4 years ago this album only had like 250-300 purchases on bandcamp. the whole devon hendryx discog felt so special and mysterious. the only artist i can compare it to is finding all the james ferraro side projects. but somewhere down the road idk if it blew up on tik tok or what but it seemingly got a massive boost in popularity. the album was so special to me and genuinely still is but especially after the remaster came it it definitely lost a lot of its appeal to me.
