Me too. I watched man vs wild growing up too (I’m 28) and I found it interesting and informative (I thought as a kid). I’ve always loved Survivorman the most out of the survival shows but when I learned man vs wild was bullshit and as I’m maturing I appreciate and love Survivorman and Les’s innovation and artistic integrity. He doesn’t treat his audience like they are morons.

@@SteveEdzPainter oh there really is something strange in the wilds, theres countless people who have seen and or experienced it and spoken about it, all around the world, too many to call them all fake, I have seen and heard things I still can't explain in the wilds of the woods here in canada and I grewup all my life outdoors, I know lots of the animals here and learned all that are in my area and stuff I can't explain no animal can explain, only when I learned from the local native medicine man the stories he told from his clan and the tales passed down from gerneration to generation kinda explained it a little bit, you have to experience the weird to know it and you really don't want to see it you will turn white as a ghost and be scared to death! whatever it is needs to be given respect of the wilds to start its no joke.

@@SteveEdzPainter when I seen it with a old friend my friend was abusing the land not sure if that had a thing to do with it making itself seen and scarying us out of there, but the natives here call it "the guardian of the forrest" so I really wonder, I used to camp out there lot's in the area once one whole summer I was out there and then I only heard weird things around my camp always kept away from the fire light and far from where my flashlight could reach, I don't know if good or bad depends on what makes them get seen. I do know it is a creature needing lots of respect as in don't disturb its home, don't be a threat kinda stuff but who knows, it wasn't easy to have the medicine man teach me and my family at one point has relations in three rivers cree, so the averadge person they won't really speak to sadly don't blame them many think there telling wild stories.

I do alot of outdoor activities alone. Fishing,kayaking hunting and camping. In the silence , your voice narrates some of my activities. I would recommend to anyone that they should go out into the wilderness alone, enjoy the night . Find the primal parts of yourself.

It's funny because this Norway episode is definitely one of my favorites of yours, just felt the most real to me... BUT I remember rewatching it fairly recently and thinking how you were acting kind of different, when you entered that house on the lake. Like with the little hunters cabin, you were so happy to be there and then this place you walking through it with a maybe concerned or even a bit of a spooked look on your face. So it's very interesting now to hear that you were in fact a tiny bit spooked. Also interesting, your mood and demeanor completely changes when you go back downstairs. It's all even more strange coming from someone like you and I hope you don't take that as an insult or anything. Anyway! Great episode and commentary

Loved this two-parter, and the commentary. Aside from everything else, it gives me such pleasure to see Les, after all his adventures and survival ordeals, kicking back with a smoothie or enjoying wine o'clock (or enjoying the incomparable beauty of Istanbul by the Bosphorus). Les! My grandfather was the owner of the chestnut canoe company. My father, and uncle etc all grew up building canoes when paps opened up the shop back in NB - and i spent a great deal of time canoeing and camping with my father growing up. I'm not big into Nationalism - so there are few things that make me feel "proud to be a Canadian", or - "i'm happy they are Canadian", or they are "ours". However if someone were to ask - my response would be "the tragically hip", and "Les Stroud". Great to see your channel growing!

I never believed in ghosts or spirits until I worked in an old house and when I was alone (and many times when I wasn’t), I would hear footsteps, doors would open and close, voices, and a deep sense of not being alone. I would have to tell clients that I was expecting coworkers to be coming in and leaving so that when they heard someone walking around and talking, they wouldn’t get freaked out. We moved the business to another location and I have not had a single creepy weird experience. I know exactly the feeling you felt. Was it all in your head? Was it all in mine? Who knows? But it didn’t seem all in my head when clients asked me who was calling my name in the other room and I knew we were “alone”. I’m just glad to be out of there, finally.

I didn't believe in ghosts until I lived in a haunted house. The things that happened in that house made it blatantly obvious ghosts are real. Since then I've had various encounters and lived in many not-haunted houses. The house I currently live in now is haunted though, by a rather friendly ghost who lets me know she's around a few times a week. Anyway my point is I BELIEVE YOU LES.

Ur mind can play tricks on u. There are several experiments where they recreated "ghost" experience and obv. there was no ghost there. There is a reason why there is no proof till now. Maybe there is another explanation for the phenomena and in 100+ years people will know exactly how these phenomena arise without them being real ghosts. It used to be thought that lightning was also sent by God.

When I was a kid we went to a ski resort in NE OR state named Tollgate. Three of us hiked into the wilderness using showshoes. When we stopped for the evening I dug a small snow cave in a hill side and the other two made a small igloo-like structure. It was amazing how warm it was inside there. Also how bright with one candle going.

Always loved the 10 day eps! I don't know if I've mentioned this before. But the Norway episodes remind me of a "survival game" called The Long Dark set actually in the Canadian north. Beautifully fun, tough, rewarding, but brutal game that doesn't claim to be real survival teaching or techniques. Though it emphasizes the cold, wet, wind, hypothermia, frostbite, precious matches, fire starting, boiling water, exploring surroundings, rationing resources, and so much more. Being in the Canadian bush during winter, it's breathtakingly beautiful especially during the Aurora. Check it out!

During the freaky Norwegian house examination and how you described your feelings for the upstairs of that house, it really reminded me of the concept of liminal spaces. Liminal spaces are unsettling spaces, not of conventionally haunted areas like graveyards or rundown mansions, but spaces that exist in everyday life and are familiar, but are incredibly unsettling when someone stops and actually examines it like what you did when surveying the 2nd floor of that house. One other common aspects of these spaces is its emptiness when the it would be stereotypically full of human activity. Another is lighting. Lighting plays a big part in a lot of liminal spaces and those rooms with the super dark hall way gives off some eerie vibes.

Norway always was my favorite episode, also one of the first I saw on German television. getting this extra long Commentary about it is great, and the ghost story makes it even more special! I really hope you expand your "paranormal brand" more. Even the naysayers should admit, that those are good campfire stories.

Why is it that nobody leaves any food at these remote cabins? Freeze dried, canned, dried, low perishable sealed items. Shelter is great, but shelter with food is much better. Even a .22 for small game would help greatly. You might lose a few bucks of food, but the help to another person would be immense.

Hello Les. I was curious if you have met in person Bear Grylls, Cody Lundin, Joe Teti, Matt Graham, etc? You bash Bear a lot, understandably. I've watched all the survival shows with Survivor Man and Dual Survival being my favorite(in that order). Personally you, Les, and Cody Lundin are the two I think I'd enjoy meeting the most.

Looking at the new scenes when preparing mussels gives creeps even during daylight, especially when there is hanging from the celling thing in the background, slightly swinging. Then maybe sitting in silence eating if not recording or talking to camera. Not to mention whole house is creepy af, it doesnt look(atleast on what is provided by camera here) people actually were staying there for more than a day if they could get there by motorboat in less than an hour or could even left it unatended for longer time. Even little details like what looks like a Norwegian flag on the floor in 1:43:24 I mean if it is a flag I dont think any countryman would let that lay on the ground since they love to nail their flag to the walls in the cabins this must've been hung before and laid there for a long time. Nice creepy music or no music in right moments adds to it.
