Come along as we head into the Tioga State Forest to investigate the Fall Brook Cemetery. The cemetery is the most prominent artifact left behind from a coal town of 1,400 people in the late 1800s. Fall Brook Coal Company and the Fall Brook Coal Railway were instrumental in creating a town that supported mining operations. Explore this abandoned cemetery in the middle of the Tioga State Forest.

It's been 20 years since I last visited Fall Brook Cemetery. Seems it's changed some. There used to be an iron-wrought, fenced in area in the back, to the right. We had to approach the graves carefully, as big holes were dug down into some of the graves- woodchucks? What a beautiful spot to rest in for eternity. May the good souls of Fall Brook, Pa rest in peace. Thanks for the video!

There are two enclosed areas that remain, only what is the type of fence you describe. I'll double check the next time I am up there. Thanks for watching.

I live in Mansfield PA and I try to go to this cemetery at least once a year, it is great to look at the old headstones. Not a fan of any vandals that go there to drink and get drunk and leave there trash all around. A great place to get rubbings from.

We enjoy looking up the names to see what they did and how they were part of the community of Fallbrook. Thanks for watching.

Thank you so much! I now know where to go to see if some of my ancestors are in the Fallbrook cemetery. My roots are in Tioga Co. When I was a teen my grandmother showed me an indentation (house foundation) in the ground where the house stood in Fallbrook where she was born. My Dad grew up in the woods of the state forest there, hunting and fishing. As a child I spent many a summer with my extended family in Bloss. Karen McEwan

I suggest taking shaving cream with you when you go to the cemetery. If the letters have deteriorated, you can spray shaving cream on and squeege it off to get a better read. Also check out the Fallbrook waterfall. It is a short wall and rather stunning. Thanks for watching.

This reminds of a place my dad took me once called “Pithole City.” It’s somewhere in Venango County. Nice drive you had.

When I was a teenager i visited once in the middle of winter late at night... had a paranormal experience i still question myself about. Myself and two friends heard footsteps crunching in the snow as if someone was running toward us and directly up to us. We could very clearly see in surprisingly bright moonlight that nobody was there. We went back the very next day and sure enough, was what looked like shoeprints in the snow (which stopped abruptly where we stood and didnt contintue or turn back).

Enjoyed your video, Scott. I love going to old cemeteries looking at the stones and reading the names. I am into Ancestry, and would have enjoyed photographing old headstones for Find-A-Grave, etc. I've requested a few pics be taken of my ancestors gravestones. Very cool when someone will do that for you and post the pic when you aren't able to be there to do that. Thanks for the great video, Scott.
