Mallory and Irvine have been my heroes (along with Shackleton) ever since I was a little girl. I had two grown up brothers that would tell their stories to me and I’ve been fascinated by them ever since. George Mallory didn’t have his wife’s photo on him when he was found all those years later, it must still be on the top of Everest 🤞🤞 🤞 🤞 🤞

the hypocrisy of 19:22 of them lying to the sherpas and completely disregarding everything they planned for the route to tell the truth on the mountain that takes days to get to base camp alone and sherpas are already doing repeated climbs up and down to stock up the tents.

As I watched, I was most struck by the fact that most people lose their balance under the simplest of situations when filming ANYTHING, on level, warm, pleasant terra firma. And here you are filming in the most precarious and dangerous of places, and you are unable to really watch where you're going because you are documenting this event. Also, like every other climber there, you must still TRY to think of your safety, as well as deal with every other aspect of the personal dangers and difficulties.......OMG, I truly don't know how you did it!! I think I'm still holding my breath for you!!!

Thank you for making this film, Renan! I just finished "The Abominable" by Dan Simmons. It's so nice to see the locations of all of Chomolungma's features--especially the North Col! The col is the site of so much suffering! You captured the seracs, the spindrift, the everything! I had to draw my own maps while reading that 646 page tome. The elder Sherpa was right, this is nothing but greed. Going off the "beaten path" against the orders of the Sherpas. Risking not only their lives and your climbing partner, but your life as well. Mountaineering has become an embarrassment.

I have to agree. My first thought was “how incredibly selfish”. That team went there on a lie. On a ego driven quest to what? Find a body? I watched you tromp right on by dead bodies as you climbed. I saw people using bodies as back rests. So this wasn’t about respect for the dead. It was a selfish desire for accolades. Did you really think you would have the energy or even the ability to hunt for a specific body? And if you did find him then what? You’d cart him down with you? Not likely. I’m astonished by all the people blowing smoke whilst completely ignoring that the entire premise of this trip was extraordinarily arrogant and self focused. 🤷🏻‍♀️

This comment is not to bag the photographers who provided some amazing footage. But starting comments outlines the objective: "coming to solve one of the greatest mysteries in exploration". The aim of the expedition was poorly planned and never achieved, other than a token look at a potential site and some desktop study of the Mallory - Irvine expedition. What was captured is the desecration of a beautiful landscape, trashed by years of discarded climbing ropes, shredded tents and other abandoned gear, plus a scattering of dead bodies. It also demonstrated the poor communications with and the lack of understanding of sherpas.

Someone wrote under an other Everest video, that normal start pay for sherpa is $40-50k, doing carry work etc not high up. Average wage $70-80k. And the best paid most experienced or sought after can make $140k.
