I’m not sure if anything new has been discovered, or indeed who is carrying our the dig at little dean hall, but when driving up from Elton corner you can see the various stages of the dg on the hill overlooking the Severn. My best friend and her husband lived in Brain Court for a while, she always said it was haunted. The house in which I live in soudley is definitely haunted but they are quite friendly ghosts, never been frightened, just puzzled, as I was down my garden once and felt my husband catch me by the shoulder and I gratefully turned to thank him. For the cuppa he was bringing me. But he wasn’t there, and hadn’t thought of doing that. Love my home it’s a very special place.

That's amazing, I love to hear people's ghost experiences, I was thinking of releasing a few episodes with people's experiences. Some of my ancestors lived at Littledean and Brain Court, many years ago.

I visited littledean hall on a overcast day in 1989 when my family was staying nearby in the forest of dean. We were the only visitors there and we went around the grounds first which were really eerie but that didnt prepare us for when we walked into the front entrance. There was a really strange oppressive feeling that remained throughout the house. The slightly unkept condition of the house helped with the eeriness. Id love to go back but donald dosnt live there anymore, hes a skater dude now!

I've never visited but my ancestors lived there many years ago. I spoke to Gordon last year and he's written a book on the ghost stories of Littledean, only available via email though

Nicely done, but the Forest of Dean is NOT in the Cotswolds which are on the opposite side of the Severn. There is a lot of archaeological diggings going on at present on the hillside. Yes it’s an amazing and very haunted place, sadly no longer open to the public.
@ghosttalespodcast Жыл бұрын
Yes, I realised that afterwards lol. It really is a beautiful place. Any idea if they've found anything on the excavation?

Albeit the small errors that have been highlighted by others in the chat, I found this podcast very interesting...just having spent a long weekend in the FoD, staying at the Speech House Hotel..I was frustrated that I couldn't visit Littledean Hall because it is privately owned..but that's the way it goes with the rich these days...for the most part they have no interest in sharing the history with the public..

Thank you. Yes, I'd love to visit, especially as some of my ancestors lived there

Littlrdean IS NOT IN THE COTSWOLDS. It is closer to wales and separated from the Cotswolds by miles and the River Severn .
@ghosttalespodcast Жыл бұрын
Ah, I did wonder about that and was dubious about writing that, the source was from a book called "Haunted Cotswolds".

Flaxley Abbey is some distance away from Littledean . I doubt very much that there was a tunnel going the whole way between the two. Certainly I knew people who lived in the old isolation hospital on the Flaxley road and they heard the sounds of Roman soldiers marching. My grandad was foreman plumber with the local council and he told stories about ghosts at Littledean Hall . Thinking about it the Hall might have had a tunnel to Littledean Grange which was on the Soudley road. The only part of your podcast which I had before was the ghost of the man sweeping the garden. All very interesting as is the gaol . Visit it if you can Rgds

Thanks Graham, I got the tunnel information from Donald Macer-Wright who used to own Littledean Hall but yes, just looked at a map, that would have been some engineering feat! I've been to the Gaol, loved it, some strange stuff in that place.

My mum who lived in the Forest all her life used to tell the story of the slave boy. Apparently , the grange was even eerier but not sure of its exact location . Rgds

It's not a proper Ghost Tale By The Fireside without mention of a ghostly 'munk' or two.

Yes, there are definitely a few that are mentioned 😀
