I greatly appreciate that moment at 1:11 where three NCR remnants rush the knight and force them to kneel so their mate with an automatic weapon can hit the poor bastard on the more vulnerable neck gap at full auto. Not only is it the best way to kill a much more heavily armored opponent the likes of which you see in medieval combat manuals, but it also shows these folk had experience fighting the BoS. It's the kind of thing that probably happened a lot in thr battle for Helios One, and they might even be veterans from that scuffle.

The NCR beat the BoS in full blown war back in the day, if anyone would know how to fight the brotherhood it would be the NCR. And it’s unlikely these are the final holdouts of NCR. NCR was gigantic, and even if the government fell NCR had ascended to being more a symbol than a physical thing, it’s much harder to kill a symbol than it is a flesh and blood human.

For Maximus to see that he’s prevented bringing justice on the people who destroyed his home and sided with a sinister force that seeks to dominate them. I think they are either adapting the Minutemen story or something like Lyon’s pride/Fallout 76 for season 2.

The Knights of this chapter were below average Brotherhood Standards, they went for quantity over quality. It's mentioned in the show by the Chapter leader that they needed to restructure because their forces were too weak. So yes they had flashlights but they didn't use them presumably because they're not trained or disciplined very well.

In the later games, at least, the power armor could never be looted from a corpse. It was never really explained why. With this, and what we know of the chassis system, it looks like when the suit detects the user dying, it clamps onto the body, likely a way to prevent power armor from being easily stolen. A single bullet alone wouldn't drop a man, but if that bullet preemptively triggers that clamping mechanism, it could crush whoever is inside like a Capri Sun. Just a hypothesis, but it does seem like the dude's PA collapse in on itself a bit.

Important to note that The Ghoul actually tried shooting Maximus in the same spot during their fight in Filly when he was using Knight Titus' power armor, now he does use the lever action at first but when face to face uses the same revolver in this scene and shoots in roughly the same spot. But because Titus had a special lining in his suit that Maximus notices on the vertibird and Lucy later notices when she frees Maximus from the coreless armor, The Ghoul doesn't penetrate the armor and leaves him unscathed, unlike his very unfortunate trio of brothers in this scene.

the squires following behind the knights is genuinely so perfect because that is exactly how an assault with PA units would work out. They were intended to be weapons platforms for a single person to use heavy weapons and ordinance without the issue of It being a full blown tank. So less armoured units would follow behind them like a tank during an assault so the heavy armor could absorb small arms fire while dispensing heavy fire with support from rear units.

The Ghoul fought Maximus before this scene and realized then his tactics and weapons weren't enough to kill a powered armor trooper at the time so he adapted by theorizing if there was a gap in the armor he can shoot it (He used his experience using the armor as a Pre-War soldier to guess this spot) and he also used armor piercing rounds to boost the piercing of his gun which was useless with the flat rounds. 2. The flaw only exists as far as we know in the T-45 and T-60 armor only (The T-60 is just an improved version of T-45), the Enclave never struggled with killing BOS Paladins in T-45 armor in Fallout 3 they were killing them with ease and in Fallout 2 the plasma weapons the Enclave had hard counter T-51B so at no point the Enclave needed to take advantage of this because their base weapons were more than powerful to negate needing precision aiming. 2.) Like the Brotherhood has never stopped to converse with an enemy or allow them to speak prior to combat? *Cough* FNV Veronica's Quest *Cough* Yeah no they got killed because the dude was a 200 year old War Vet hopped up on chems and using AP rounds with god tier aim going up against a bunch of fresh recruits and subpar Knights.

If I remember rightly the NCR was only able to do those things with a massive numbers advantage and they usually took heavy casualties doing so. It stands to reason that this particular garrison did not have the numbers or heavy weapons necessary to defeat a power armored force with light infantry support. While they might have caused some casualties among the supporting infantry without any means of eliminating the Knights there was little they could do.

That could be true, but I’m not entirely sure this is official NCR. Maybe a radical splinter group, namely because in the beginning with the raid on the vault, they were WAY more barbaric than the NCR usually is. They acted more like raiders or Caesar’s Legion. So, I’m hoping the flesh it out a tad more in the next season because it doesn’t make a ton of sense. I’m assuming they either stayed behind when the NCR pulled out against orders or Moldaver stayed with a handful of loyalists and recruited any random person they came across which wasn’t too far gone.

One thing I like is how the welding flaw he mentions was referenced earlier in his argument with the vault-tec representative, so it doesn't feel like something the writer just pulled out of their ass for this scene, but established lore, even if it was just one conversation

I kinda hate how power armor wearers are depicted as clumsy oafs when in reality they’d have a lot more mobility and stability instead of falling over every scene.

Heh... these knights don't have proper power armor training, because most of them werent born in the brotherhood. The BOS was in such decline they were just desperate to put men in suits.

​@@gloryshadow8710thats explained in the show, most knights are just regular soldiers in armor, many of them cowards like Titus, even the elder says the current brotherhood is a shadow of its former self. They are just a bunch of wastelanders with cool armors.

I mean the characters in the show who fall over every other moment are untrained. Namely maximus. The characters who are trained only go down when they get hit by a missile or overwhelmed.

I cannot wrap my head around everyone being surprised the NCR and Vegas are in a bad state. Did you supposed fans just skip the dialogue? Not play the DLC's? Vegas has always been fucked. No matter what government takes over. The NCR was already on the decline, it's their entire dilemma in the game. Father Elijah wasn't lying out of his ass about the cloud, Ulysses wasn't kidding about the tunnelers and the spread of The Divide. The fall of NV was bound to happen. I loved NV, but I didn't turn a blind eye to the theme and message entirely because muh favorite faction or whatever. Also Bethesda clearly doesn't have a hard on for the BoS being good guys, considering they're clearly the next antagonist.

​​@@MrMadre Almost like The Enclave, But They lost to a Kid from Vault 101 who died to initiate his Father's "Project purity" which allegedly means The Enclave fucked right off from The Capital wasteland entirely. Speaking of allegedly, others say that the rest of The American Enclave remains in their Military satellites safely nestled into The Earth's orbit. All in All, The Wasteland is an Unforgiving place and it's not for everyone to survive in. Not even for The faint of Heart, Of course.

yes, "decline". much like how governments today can be on the 'decline' but still be entirely functional. if the show wants new vegas to be canon, it would also mean that NCR isn't merely on the "decline" in 2297. it's entirely fucking collapsed lmao. the show very much implies that the NCR presence begins and ends with shady sands. otherwise, logically, the aftermath of bombing the city would have gone much differently. specifically, when the CAPITAL CITY of my government/territory is fucking nuked, i would probably send entire detachments of forces to go aid the disaster. and as we saw in 2282, the NCR very much had that in spades. ...yet in this show, we didn't see that. instead, it very heavily implies that the remnants of the NCR are here. where are the NCR patrols? the NCR camps? in the heart of california, we should see more than one base. yet we don't. because the new lore is that an entire governmental entity that managed to expand outwards towards mojave somehow lost everything in 15 years. does it ever explain the actual logistics of how this happened? no. because that would be too interesting and smart to write in, qualities which the writers clearly lack. also, it's funny how you mention the sierra madre fog and dwellers when they again, make NO MENTION OR APPEARANCE IN THE SHOW. this is the definition of wishful thinking. it's entirely lazy for writers to tease things without a hint of logical explanation, just to elicit a soypog reaction from viewers (omg ncr flag!! omg shady sands bombed!! omg new vegas!!). and it's equally pathetic that viewers attribute a cope explanation for shitty writing with things that aren't at all established in the plot.
