The Prehistoric Planet shadowy Therizinosaurus reminds me of how i was so intrigued with Therizinosaurus. I played a Jurassic Park Builder game and Therizinosaurus is one of the new dinosaurs i learned there. I was so shocked seeing how eerie it looks - it's like a creepypasta to me back then. But when i touched Internet i saw Chased by Dinosaurs model, the detaild paleoarts, JWD Therizinosaurus and even i drawn Therizinosaurus itself a lot of times. Apart from Chased by Dinosaurs,all of those failed to emulate any of my mysterious eerie feeling of learning the Therizinosaurus for first time. But Prehistoric Planet's shadowy portrayal of the scythe-lizard made me like a kid again... it brought back my curiosity of mysterious Therizinosaurus. Showing less is more intriguing.

It wouldn't be unrealistic for it to stab at predators, though. 30 feet tall is wayyyyy too big. Maximum of ~22 feet in height. It was much taller than other Theropods like Tyrannosaurus (15 feet) and Deinocheirus (16 feet), while very close in height to Gigantoraptor which seems to be anywhere from 14 to 20 feet tall! I need to get an apple TV+ account; this show, Kenobi, and Stranger Things are about to make summer so sweet!

Honestly I respect this comment. Approaching a height of nearly 30 feet isn’t impossible for a large individual though, we just don’t know enough about Therizinosaurus.
@SirBungaminJames
@SirBungaminJames 2 жыл бұрын
@@rivermitchem293 It's just heavily improbable really. The only dinosaurs to pass heights of such are large sauropods, which are all around 75+ feet in length. Just based off of size-to-weight ratios, if we were to find a 30 foot tall Therizinosaurus it would dwarf the largest theropod (Tyrannosaurus). I think it's likely that the largest (and rare) individuals were around 24 feet and 43 feet long... sort of like how Allosaurus Fragilis was 25 to 34 feet on average, but there are some giant specimens that measure in at 40+ feet in length.

I think it might be something to do with Attenborough's accent or the way he talks. I heard "30 meters" when he gave the size for T. rex in the first episode, but I'm positive that he was saying 13 meters, and it was just a bit obscured by his accent.
@SirBungaminJames

Because the people who make Jurassic world don't give a shit. Appealing to monster fans is much easier and more lucrative then trying to appeal to Paleo fans. If they learned anything from the two prior movies, it's that it doesn't matter if they depict their dinosaurs as ugly monsters. Most people will watch the movie anyway. Because most people don't know shit about dinosaurs and they don't care either. Think about it. Most people who will watch dominion will not know how much they bastardized the dinosaurs. So why should they care? All they care about is money after all. Our respect on the other hand, is probably the last thing they care about.

It is in the new Jurassic World movie, already seen it in Asia. The way it was depicted in the film was way more menacing. It was one of the main predators in the film, and apparently the producers decided that Therizinosaurus was a carnivore (or omnivore at least).

Hard to find anything on the statement saying the Theri can grow up to nearly 30 ft tall. If true, then no carnivore ever to walk the planet would dare get close to that thing. Even if it is at its current estimate of 15-16 ft tall it is still a terrifying herbivore for sure. Doubt any carnivore would give it a go.

At best, it would of tried to slash at attackers rather than stabbing them while using flaring feathers. Other options would of been to use its body mass to throw them around or even peck at their faces to further deter the attacker.
