This giant food forest region was the origin of some of our favorite fruits. It also inspired myths that have had a lasting impact on human culture, language, trade, etc.

I can easily see how food forests like these would influence myths and legends, there are many times in my garden that I feel like I have escaped reality and entered a world of fantasy, compared to the human world, nature is magical. Exploring nature brings me back to being a kid, not just because I did explore nature as a child, but also because nature always has new surprises in store for us.

This was common practice in Europe before WW2. Every decent sized property would have a table orchard because shipping fruit long distances was expensive and wasteful. I am involved in preserving heritage fruit varieties that have survived from the 1880s on a large pioneer property near where I live in Western Australia. Sacred trees are also known around the globe to nearly all races.

I think an element of the ww2 era hijinx that might be missed is that a lot of the expeditions might have been simply convenient cover for espionage activities, and influence operations. Were they really wasting time looking for shangri-la, or were they there to accomplish secondary missions?

Very interesting, seems like a lot of Forest people around the world and through time acted alike. Tribes in the Amazon but also tribes in Spain before the Phonecians and Romans came when most of Spain was forested

Lots of early agricultural areas were in river valleys that brought silt and constantly replenished the soil so only once populations outstripped what those valleys could create would they need to expand and then tilling less ideal land would deplete it and necessitate further expansion. Anyway it wasn’t obviously unsustainable from the start. Cool video. Isn’t the Tian Shan far north of the Himalayas in Xinjiang? For the Aryan race stuff that is completely made up garbage, you can blame Blavatsky.
