I know about the story. It is said that when he was conceived by his mother he didn't cry.because at the time the current king was looking for the next to be king.but he has two wives.but the first born was supposed to be arhuan(I don't know if i got it right)but because he didn't cry his brother cried first,so he was cried first, this was the cause of the rivalry.i heard they had to break palm not on his head😂 . that's all i know. I am not Edo by tribe, but was born there.

The story of Ahruan have a two side. The other side is tied to his brother Oba Esigie and his step mother Queen Idia( Oba Esigie's mother) the popular Benin face mask. Nollywood only focused on Queen Idia our warrior Queen. Edos have many mystic powers. Ahruan is still alive in the lake mystically. Our new generation Edos are not fully informed. I remember 40 or 30years plus ago there was an issue in the land our then Oba had to consult his coming for help. That morning, most royal areas where swept clean before daybreak. His story is not really out there because he is still much around mystery. Then we valued our culture, there are days the Benin men don't eat meat or red oil food we can't speak about the royal household putting your feet on the ground. When people no longer value there culture, it dies. I know the full story of Prince Ahruan and it is a very long one. He fell because of anger and quest to get justice or what he felt was his(throne). But he was never destined to be Oba atleast not when Queen Idia had her son politically elected to be. Queen Idia went to war with Ahruan to help her son who was almost losing to Ahruan. She defeated him with mystic powers. His tragedy made him join with the river. Many years ago, most Edo people have powers to hold them to Life. Until somethings are done, they can not really die. Well enough side already.

There are highly educated people in Nigeria, why have they failed to write History books about these people only writing books about criminal politicians? These are the stories we need to hear as Africans. We keep reading the Bible stories that were written about what happened in somebody's hometown.

Funny story about the museum. There used to be a statue of the unknown soldier there, standing on the top of a tall white column. When we were little, my mom who is Igbo told us once that that “that is my brother”. Basically meaning all the Igbo soldiers who died or were lost during the civil war. Well, we literally thought that it was a statue of our uncle and we would tell everybody that the statue at the Benin Museum was of our uncle.
