As someone who struggled with dyslexia in school this was so informative! I had so many teachers completely confused about what was “going on” with me. Some thought I was dumb and gave me an iq test. Unsurprisingly I tested poorly in the reading/comprehension/phonological awareness but outstanding in spatial awareness and problem solving which had them really scratching their heads. Others saw that I just needed a different approach to help me. One math teacher in particular changed my life by taking time to help me understand things in a way I could digest. It was the first time I felt like something wasn’t wrong with me and maybe I was just different. My son is still young, but I’ve been researching the subject so I can help him if/when the time comes. What a great resource!

Thank you so much. If you are dyslexic yourself, did this agree with your experience? If you are a parent of a dyslexic child, did this explain what your child is going through? I happen to know that you are going to attend the Gift of Dyslexia workshop starting next week. What was it that made most sense to you? Please like and subscribe, and share this video with anyone who you think will benefit.

I read dislexia exists in China, but they have pictures, not words. How this method applies to other languages?

The high-frequency words exist in most languages, and their meaning tend to be difficult to picture in any language. Likewise, once you have mastered the meaning of these words in one language, it becomes easy to add them in another language. I have a colleague who works with the Davis method in Chinese. You may want to ask her for more details about Chinese: www.davismethod.org/?s=livia&category=&location-address=&a=true
