I was always the "weird girl" that was shy and ignored, but girls always complimented my hair and would ask to play with it. I loved it so much, it made me feel liked and included. Even if it was just for a few minutes and that they would go on with their day and not talk to me again, it still felt special to me because it was one of the few interactions I had with other girls my age since I didn't really have any friends. I always got shivers and tingles when they would play with my hair or write on my skin. It felt different than if it was my mom doing it. The fact that it was girls that I admired and thought they were so cool made me feel special and happy.

Same in almost every aspect, especially being the "weird girl" because I was a nerdy not really girly type, like video games and anime, and was a good artist 😭😂 Though I never let most people even NEAR me unless we were close friends... The only people who have actually touched my hair was this one girl Cadence who was more of an aquaintence to me and one of my closer friends named Starr 😂 This usually happened when my hair was down and they caught me off guard tho lol and for some reason they lived touching my hair and always thought it beautiful and soft so I guess that's a thing 😂

In high school I would receive compliments on my long hair often, usually from girls. This was more often than not followed by a request to play with it. Especially in choir. What amazed me about this was the wide variety of girls that would sit around me and chat while one of them brushed and braided my hair. I wasn’t friends with them, but it made me feel included as they chatted on about personal topics that normally I wouldn’t be hearing about. And almost all of them would have to take a turn feeling my hair after one of them exclaiming how soft it was. I really appreciate that these girls felt comfortable enough around me to be so open and also treat me somewhat special. Also this comment section totally passed the vibe check ✅

I’m enjoying reading everyone’s stories 🙂. Such a small comfort making a huge impact. Growing up, I had to be the “tough guy.” My Dad, cousins and uncles were all hard assess. The only thing they understood was anger, and the response was either rage, violence, retaliation and unhealthy things. I was never that person, and for 18 years I tried to force myself to be that person. Then, my Senior year of high school, I became very close with this girl. I remember once, when I was seething with anger and about to do something incredibly stupid, she put her hand on my head and said “just close your eyes and take a deep breath.” I did, as she started playing with my hair and scalp, and I went from 100-0 instantly. Damn near passed out from the drop in blood pressure 😂. Idk where you are today, Kayla. But thank you for showing me another option 💜

I had a boy in my class one year in elementary school who I think had autism and I remember no one really talked to him or hung around him, because he seemed different, especially to kids who didn’t understand. He was one of the sweetest people I’ve ever met to this day, and I remember he LOVED anything related to dinosaurs, and whenever the class had free reading time or inside recess, I’d let him show me all his dinosaur books he had and he’d tell me every fact he knew about them and it gave me the most asmr anyone’s ever given me. I’m not sure why exactly, but it did. Long story, but I suddenly remembered him today and thought I’d share ❤️ his name was Cody and I think of him a lot, especially when it comes to asmr. Not a story about someone playing with my hair but remembering it gives me that relaxed feeling: Before christmas break, we watched a movie in class and everyone was supposed to bring snacks that we shared. A guy sitting in the row in front of me turned around and started telling me about the filled chocolates he brought and he got so excited about their taste which was already really cute. Then he was like "Have you had one yet? You have to try them, they're so good" and just gave them to me as if we were close friends. Not only did he await my reaction ("they're really tasty, right?!", he also immediately offered me more. All of this while his back was turned to the screen and he was missing out on the movie. I just really enjoyed that he was radiating with happiness and really seemed to care about my opinion in that moment, just a nice personal attention moment :) If you've read all of this, have a nice day, you deserve the world ♡

It really depended on if it was my cousin or not behind me. I had trust issues as I turned around 4-5 cause I lost my dog and it was a lot for me(knew him from when I born) so if it wasn't my cousin. Like any little kid, I'd start crying and throw a fit. We're still pretty close now, we're both 13, turning 14 this year. We have a cousin who's 10, turning 11 this year who pretends to be an opera singer when her hair gets brushed by our cousin. And they're two of the only people I let play with my hair, even to today. I have thick, long, and soft hair so the girls and the gays at my highschool loved playing with my hair. In my theatre class I had a guy sit behind me and everytime we read plays, he would either play with my hair or draw on my back with the eraser on his pencil or we would play a game called “guess what im drawing” on my arm. It was both funny and relaxing. We would also get detention for not following along the script and the funniest part is we did the same thing in detention. We usually rehearsed our lines while he played with me hair during that time. As two gays not wanting to be in our toxic household, we lived for detention together. I miss him 😪

So many lovely stories in the comments! When I was a teenager I worked in the hair salon and washed people's hair. When I told people that's what I do, they would say 'isn't that gross?' but it wasn't to me. It was really special giving people that moment out of their day where they can just close their eyes and enjoy warmth and touch in a safe environment. A lot of older ladies came in very frequently (once a week or more) to get their hair done and I felt so happy to give them a calming, caring experience. It felt like I was a therapist really helping people. I think almost every person likes getting a nice calming hair wash at the salon 😊❤

I had my first tingle in kindergarten. My friend and I were seated on top of the monkey bar. I laid my head on her lap and she started playing with my hair. I felt a sensation that went through body starting from the top of my head right down to my toes. The bell rang because recess was over yet I couldn’t get myself to move out of that position it felt so nostalgic like it has happened before. My whole life I was searching for that feeling again. Years later I got the exact same feeling but this time from an asmr video.

Every time my friend gets new acrylics, she shows them to me, and then says “check this out” and scratches my scalp and styles/plays with my hair and says how it reminds her of her mom’s hair (brown, fluffy, and curly) and it’s my favorite thing ever 🥰 and when she hugs me she sometimes scratches my back lightly to see if I find it relaxing (I do). My mom used to do stuff like this for me but stopped when I was really young so it’s always nice to find the people like this that want to see you happy/comforted :)

This video is so Nostalgic for me. When I was in high school I was quiet and shy. Overall quite depressed as well. One of the popular girls in my class sat behind me one year and asked if she could play with my hair. Every time we had that class she would braid it or comb it for me. She always said kind things to me and helped me feel included in such small ways. I will never forget that kindness and how relaxed she would help me feel for that one hour. Such a small amount of time to effect someone. Remember you can always have an impact in someone's life even if it's in small moments. Choose to be kind. Thank you for this video! Hey!! My sis has been diagnosed with idiopathic hyper somnia! Which means she goes without sleep for 24 to 48 hours! I told her to listen to asmr and I made her listen to you! She got her first 5 hours of sleep in 2 days and she loved it! So I make her listen to your asmr every night, and it really helps her get sleep atleast every 3 days, thank you :) Edit: I didn’t post this to get like but to just say thank you to Eda But thanks for the like :D it’s the most I have gotten :’) I show my sister the like she gets everyday and she wanted to say thank you to you all too :) We got it to 1k! :D sister says thanks ^^ Info: this is a bit more info on the disorder my sister has. So basically what I mean is even if she gets a full nights sleep she feels like she has had no sleep whatsoever, she gets really tired because of that and has a hard time sleeping at night, so she goes without sleep for 3 - 4 days. So basically my sis already feels like she’s tired even when she is sleeping and on top of that she can’t sleep, so asmr helps her calm down. I just wanted to tell you guys that’s because, some of you in the replies have been stating that they go without sleep for 3 - 4 days too, I’m not stating that you guys are lying, but my sister’s case is a bit different :) thank you for all the love and support :) good night!

I was so wrong, all the people I thought had been my friends in 3rd grade was definitely not my friends in 6th. The first day of 7th I spotted a new kid who I was determined to make friends with because no one deserved to feel alone and unwanted like I had the year before. I proudly call her my sister now as after several family tragedies after we both turned 18 we adopted her as part of our family. My family is also currently the only people who knows she moved out of state and where she is as no-one’s in her bio-family knows.

I use to have long hair back in elementary school and there were these two girls who loved playing with my hair. They would split it in half and play with it while the teacher was reading in class, making a chain of girls doing each other's hair, all I remember was the sense of comfort and relaxation I felt when they did this. We always got in trouble for doing this tho...

This is the kind of experience I wish I had when I was a kid. People are sharing their stories and it comforts me to think that they had this experience, among many that I had yet to even comprehend. Growing up homeschooled I was shut in 24-7, my parents weren’t rich so doing things always felt like a burden to me. I only had my siblings who were toxic and sexually abusive, I wish I had friends who could encourage and comfort me. That I could be open with. Being an adult and moving out at my first chance was the best thing I did, now having friends to be open with and play with each other’s hair. I feel like I’m much younger than I am (I’m 21) as if I was 15 instead. Never take the small experiences or memories for granted if you have them, even if there were only a few for myself. There is good in every situation, you just need to hold on to them and keep moving forward 💜

I was homeschooled as well from 2nd grade to 12th. My issues are mostly from emotional and mental neglect, so I totally understand feeling younger than you are. When I'm stressed, my mental age drops down to about six or seven and I have to be very careful to not melt down in public. I have friends and a couple coworkers who know and support me, so I'm getting better I think. You're not alone 🙂

In first grade there was a girl that would play with my hair during “carpet time” but our teacher always got super mad and made them stop. I always felt so special that a peer would want to play with my hair or trace my back because I was really shy and had undiagnosed anxiety and idk it was just heaven for me. The tingles and also feeling accepted was amazing. I hated when my teacher yelled at us for it because it felt like one of the only moments I could relax as a kid

This is nostalgia and reminder for me, because ever since elementary, the first thing that caught people's attention about me (besides my weird personality) was my hair. A lot of my friends played with my hair, most of the time when we had freetime in class or on the bus. I was bullied so I had trust issues and my anxiety spiked whenever people approached me asking me about my looks, as I was majorly insecure about it. But my friends made me feel at ease whenever they just braided my hair or something like that. So nice video, brings back happy memories.

I never had my hair played with really because I was SO paranoid about Lice(my school had kinder-12th grade) that I never left my hair down. especially after a girl in my class, who wasn’t part of my friends, and her younger siblings gave our entire school, including me, head lice. However I am kind of a tactile person and would scratch with my nails or draw with a pencil on people’s shoulders for the ASMR. I would let people do my makeup for me with my supplies which felt amazing and relaxing.

I love how open everyone is being. The comments pass the vibe check as they say lol! I've never trusted many people, I don't like to be touched. I see a lot of people say its due to their childhood trauma but I can't really say if I had trauma or not, I don't think so, but sometimes when I remember things I think maybe they meant more to me than I've told myself they do. I remember in middle school one girl would brag she knew the best way to calm people, she would run her finger down the middle of peoples backs. She did it to me once but she did it when I was off guard because she knew I didn't like being touched and made me jump lol! It did feel nice though. She kept asking "But it was nice wasn't it?" but I was afraid if I admitted it the other teens would make fun of me. I had issues with a guy and his best friends were stuck to her like magnets but she was always pulling me in I think specifically because I wouldn't give in to her "magic" hands lol! However, I was actually more relaxed in HS I had study hall with 2 girls and that was like it, just 3-4 people in the whole room. I would sit next to one girl, then the other girl would play with her hair. I really didn't want to be touched by people I wasn't fully comfortable with. I really only let my mom and dad do anything to my hair. (My dad knew like every braid imaginable, my mom would just brush it lol)
