Riza doesn’t lie, he doesn’t gossip, he is distressed when he finds out that he was unfair to people, he apologises for his mistakes, he takes his responsibilities very seriously and tries his best to fix the wrongs he and his family inflicted on other people. We know another character in this story that has the same characteristics as Feriha’s father. He also has a quick temper, like Riza, but instead of directing the temper on his family, this character directs his fists against those that disturb his family. He uses his fists to protect the people he loves. He jealously guards his beloved against others whom he thinks might want to lure her away from him, to the point that it becomes unacceptable, because some of the accusations are not true. Just like some of Riza’s accusations are untrue. He even slapped Feriha, unjustly, just like Riza slapped Feriha. And yet, they both loved Feriha. And Feriha loved them both. The one, Riza was her father. The other, her husband. Was the thing that attracted Feriha to Emir an unconscious recognition of the good characteristics of her father? Feriha would not be the first woman who this happens to. So to summarise. There are two family members in Feriha’s family who are not liars. In fact they both hate lies. Feriha’s father, and Feriha’s husband.

Then the risks of babies falling out of nowhere into your husbands’s lap, and of course the risk that some old gland might ignite something again in the heart of your husband. And then we have not yet spoken about his temper, his view of society and lots more. No, he needs a strong woman who loves him enough to have all that bother on her plate. Levent would make an excellent husband

Unal tells Emir that he asked himself the question “How long can I stand not seeing this woman “ The answer to that question led him to want to marry Aysun. I didn’t understand why Emir moved into Feriha’s apartment block when he was so furious with her after discovering her lies. Considering that Emir and his father are very similar in matters of loving relationships, I now understand that Emir simply couldn’t stand not seeing Feriha. He was furious with her, and he had nothing that stopped him from ever crossing her path again, yet, he struggled fruitlessly to stay away from her. He couldn’t stand not seeing her. It was preferable to place him and her into mental turmoil by being in her vicinity, compared to not seeing her at all. Later, the audience learns that Feriha also prefers to have Emir close, in the apartment building, even when they are still on tense terms. Feriha also wanted Emir close to her.
