Thanks so much Elizabeth 🥰 I'm pretty happy to stick it out through heat but if it's below 20 there's a good chance it's too cold and I won't bother, I love hot weather!

I really like the Atmospheric perspective that you have achieved in your painting. It gives it a real sense of depth. It must have been hard focusing on the painting while people were coming up and checking out what you were doing.

Thanks so much 😊 I'm not too fussed by people it's just extra pressure, although if it's a really big crowd like what you get on the great ocean road then I get really nervous cause that's too many people.

I agree that you picked a great spot which I'm guessing a lot of people might have passed up because it's next to the road and maybe on the way to the lookout. I think your "nice moody sky" is probably my favorite part, because of how it interacts with the rest of the scene as opposed to how a straight-up blue sky would look. You also did a great job of creating deliberate, contrasting layers, like the ocean behind the mountain, and the trees on the hill in front of the mountain, and the different layers of greenery all the way to the foreground. Great stuff!!

It's still at the lookout but only just I was pretty pleased with the spot though! Thank you 😊 I am starting to not mind cloudy skies as much, I use to never paint on an overcast day as it can look flat but if the subject is good enough I will nowadays but I decided no plein air painting in winter it's too cold, so I'm counting down..... 84 days left till spring.... In the meantime I'm posting videos from the warmer months. Oh yes I am super happy with the depth I managed to get in this painting with those layers. Thanks so much 🥰

You have so many painting talents…great at composition and really skilled with using a palette knife. And…you know how to make so many greens! Nature shows us so many natural greens-I have a hard time getting these colors to look natural. ☹️Thank you so much for sharing.😊
@Kate_Bonnie

Thank you Nancy 😊 I don't always nail the composition but it does help the locations I go to are stunning, and I only got into using the pallet knife about half a year ago.... That one took a lot of practice. I think medium has a lot to do with that, oils naturally have a large range, you mentioned you paint in watercolour, that takes a lot of skill I wouldn't have a clue where to start with watercolour. I did 6 months at art school and I think one thing I found really useful was learning to mix colours you wouldn't expect into green really helps, i.e I often mix red into my greens it gives much more range and makes them more natural toned. Hopefully that's helpful 🥰 glad you enjoy my videos thank you😊

Hey, Kate...you are so naturally talented and you are DOING it. DOING is the best thing you can ever do. Why not consider going to the Adelaide Central school of Art to do their degree. They teach like no other school in Australia. They have an open day next Saturday ( 10 August)...go and have a look. You would love it there. I have just finished and I thought I could paint and draw when I started and it seriously challenged me!

@@carolinejohnsonartist5650 thank you 😊 I went there for one semester actually, I loved what they taught and really liked my teachers.... I struggled with the rest of the environment there. I actually asked my painting teacher if he could privately tutor me and he told me he thought I had what I need already, I just needed to get out and do it, so since then I have been going out and painting 🖌️🎨❤️
