The way it was described to me is that the police chief, the shaman, and Yeon Jin's mom are all running a high class escort service. The shaman is famous for reading "romantic futures" with high success so young women go to her, hence the long line of young ladies with background papers when Ms. Kang first went there. Mama Yeon Jin supplies a list of rich men who want a sugar baby. The police chief provides protection and also a nice hotel his family owns where these affairs can be conducted in safety.

When mrs. kang first goes to check out the shaman's, there's a ton of young women and they're gossiping about past visitors getting great fortune. Then when she follows them to a restaurant, the camera pans over to an expensive purse while they gossip some more about their experience. But it's not really fleshed out until this episode with the interaction in the hotel room.

also shaman picks special girls with specific birth date&time, its believed that sleeping with someone with the right time of birth would give those rich man good luck, change of their fate, all that. like a evil astrology ritual. and just like how the bully was based on some real cases, there was actual crime committed just like these. sometimes much worse than this drama could capture or show to us. cause its also widely believed that the girl better be a virgin. to make sure of that, some of the man would just go for underages.

The last scene with her mom still gives me chills! Her acting there! Her mom still hurts her the most! What will Dong Eun do to her is basically only a family member can do to her... It is way worst than just throwing her on that fire. Her hugging that doctor was epic that awkward hard but somehow find it really sweet and cute! Imagine that, it was done exactly according to there character. They are both awkward and dark, interesting it worked at least for me. Unlike the other usual k drama 🙄🙄🙄

They are now officially my favorite twisted couple! It was so nice to see Dong Eun making the first move. Okay, remember what he said to the husband? that some people can move on from forgiving and others thru revenge, remember he (the doctor tried to forgive him and even went on therapy) but obviously did not work for him and probably meeting dong eun making him realize that he too, needs to let go and just go on with his own revenge. "Blood is thicker than water" this will comeback to her and twice as cruel (evil mother) but she deserves it and the most poetic way! That I can promise you! Dong Eun was never the type that will kill somoene with her bare hands...it was indicated from the very beginning that she was a fine and kind soul...that is why this revenge was epic in a lot and especial way!

I don't know if it was discussed but there's a very nuanced notion there in the prison scene. Basically South Korea has not executed any prisoners on death-row since 1997, and has refrained from putting even violent criminals from deathrow since. Only 1 death sentence was given on 2018. Basically, even the heinous criminals only needs to serve a short period of time and be on their merry way back into society. Criminals on death row lives a well fed and cared for life for as long as they live because they will not be executed, and their "punishment" is just living it up in the korean prison system. Which was why Inmate 3714's happy-go-lucky behaviour can be so infuriating to those who understood this nuance.

Well yes, that's what abuse does to people, they live for the good days and walk on eggshells hoping to not wake up to one of the bad days. The first two girls got out either by death or by being exiled where as she got stuck with them and became their abused slave forever. What you said amounts to victim blaming lol. It's no wonder women still suffer high levels of domestic abuse when the attitude of the general public is like this.

I don't think they were saying that as like "oh why does she still work for them", but more as a "that's really messed up that she's still stuck with them". To me it sounded like they felt bad for her still having to be around them even after all these years, and this is coming from someone who lived in an abusive household for 7 years when I was a child. But what do I know since I'm not in their heads.

I would suggest for us ladies post-Glory... what are you looking for? Procedural- "Big Mouse", "Guardian/Goblin : the Great & Lonely God", which is good but I PERSONALLY preferred "Tale of the Nine-Tailed" and I am giving you the early heads up on this one: the 2nd season is what you're watching the 1st season for. And season 1...is fun with a mid-episode lag that does happen wherein you get a ton of Korean, Chinese, and Japanese mythology is explained. I swear that I haven't really "fallen" for TV characters since I was a teenager...I can appreciate their acting, looks, whatever...but I think people have forgotten to keep a slight wall up : that's how fans become STANS and require 15-minute check-ins after obsessively stalking. But the gentlemen/ladies' who make up our good guys' side...are admirable actors. My brother really liked the female kitsune and female mountain god in both seasons. I think we've fully explored both seasons. We're fully waiting for the next season. Also, it just switched to Netflix from Viki.
