Man with the glasses, you are sharp. Almost no one noticed or cared about the young girl taking a shower in the police chief’s bedroom but you connected it to the girl who had her fortune read by the shaman and who was followed by sidekick lady who eavesdropped on her at a restaurant. It’s not central to our main revenge plot, but season 2 will explain why so many young girls were getting their fortunes read at the same place and this side plot helps better flesh out one of the show’s side villains.

@@dcandleonna (only for people who finished series) So the full is story is that police chief used much of the dirty money from years of being a bad cop to buy a motel under his sister's name. He repurposes the motel into an illegal brothel. Some of the sex workers are provided by the shaman, who read young girls fake fortunes telling them how their fortunes would change for the better if they worked there. The first girls who work there continue future recruitment by spreading positive word of mouth about how the fortunetelling came true and this brings lots of new girls to the shaman. This was a hard to believe storyline for me when I saw it through the eyes of a westerner but more plausible when I tried to think more in Korean context. 1. The belief in shamanism, fortune readings, and destiny to some Koreans. Yeon Jin's mom was heavily into this which is why she was as superstitious as to discourage friends with Os in their names, or refused to burn damning evidence against her daughter (name tag) because burning was "bad luck." The sex workers who were recruited were also deep believers in shamanism. 2. The underground sex work culture of Korea. Many people already know about Thailand and certain "massage parlors" that offer more. In Korea prostitution is illegal but happening under the surface. Another example is abusive husband thinking Mrs. Kang had all that cash in her purse assuming she was pimping out their daughter Sun-A to do sex work while as a bar girl, which deeply offended her that he could even think this. But young girls working in low-end bars where the clientele are mainly middle-aged ahjussis are another place unofficial prostitution takes place. Sometimes the workers are underage which makes Sun-A working there plausible. Police chief even says to his goons when they visited him at the motel, "enjoy the girls. But no minors, got it?" It's a sad reality.

weather casters and newscasters in Korea are semi celebrities because they're known for their beauty and appear on talk shows and stuff so he would recognize her. the scene where park Yeon Jin says "I think I love him" is really important because she's a narcissist she thought she's just been manipulating him all this time but when he described it to her she realized this Is how she felt about him and that obviously pissed him off. + ya'll ain't ready for part 2

The Glory easily fell into my recent top 3 kdramas…and it’s never easy to pick my top kdramas however Under The Queen’s Umbrella Reborn Rich & The Glory 1&2 changed my brain chemistry And everyone applauds the acting and actors ,the direction and production as they bloody should but rarely an interest into the writer of the story, it is so well written ,I’m Inlove and grateful to the writer’s mind

In re. The strawberry milk at the beginning when Moon was standing under the rain....in Korea back in the days(I'm not sure what the kids will think now) but, it used to be an insult to tell a girl to drink more strawberry milk because it will make her (chest) bigger.. so he basically told her that she doesn't need to drink anymore strawberry milk because her chest was already big enough which is a straight out insult plus a traumatic and unforgivable experience.

I'm not sure if this was touched on by the creators but I have a strong feeling that Jae-joon r*ped Dong-eun. She has interacted with all the bullies privately, but he was the only one that has triggered her so badly after being in each other's personal space. As well as the flash back of them forcing her to stand in the rain while they stare at her body and make certain uncomfortable comments. I'm not sure if yall remember this either, but remember when Dong-eun told Myeong-oh about getting a matched paternity test and the first thing Myeong-oh asked both Dong-eun and Jae-joon is if Jae-joon had a child with Dong-eun. I don't think they'd show him actually doing the act but I get the vibe that he straight up did that to her.

I don't know where it came from but there was a stupid rumor that strawberry milk can make your chest bigger when i was at school which is a loooong time ago. not sure kids still believing that these days in korea. The writer's daughter asked her a question "which case would be more heart broken if I am bullied or I bully others." She couldn't answer the question at that time and went to her office and started to write the story.

The body was never claimed because her family believes that it wasn’t a suicide , so they didn’t sign-off to have the body buried. I can’t wait for you to see part 2 it’s sooo good, I finished today and was full of emotions. Best K-drama I think I’ve seen in a long time . I hope you jump right in! how can the offer dongeun give to the lady ms.kang looks so crazy for you guys to spontaneously think "i'll let him beat me"... you will not... we see the victims of abusive household right there. what dongeun said is a reminder for her about the reality of the idea of her husband get killed, and the lady want to kill is absolutely valid because running away from abusive figure like that might be the same as run away from a killer so kill almost like the only way out. it's 100% right for dongeun to send the kid away to not get close to that conflict and killing is also the best plan for what the lady and her kid have been through for so long.

If I felt bad( a little bit) that just means how well the revenge was executed even when only what she did was to turn them against each other still it's her revenge. I watched part 2 in one sitting last Saturday! Hahaha I enjoyed it so much! This is one of the best show this year in terms of suspense/thriller drama but don’t say it’s your best show yet because you haven’t watch TAXI DRIVER, it’s like the enhancement of this show and the main lead is a guy was a specially force, it’s also about revenge based on real cases in South Korea. If you enjoyed this you will love taxi driver and season two is also on going right now.

The writer of The Glory is one of my all time favorite screen writers. Her last like 6 dramas have been all excellent and all VERY different. Been watching her dramas for years. The Glory is her best work to date imo. Honestly already the best drama of 2023 for me. This will be hard to beat.

Haha the strawberry milk thing was like a silly old wives tales sort of thing between middle school and high school kids - that if you drank a lot of it you’d get big boobs. So it makes sense when on boy asks if she drinks it a lot and the other then says she’s got big boobs. No scientific truth to it of course, like I said, just an urban myth sort of thing between school kids.

These kdramas are so damn good. I don't watch American shows anymore because it lacks suspense. The edge of your seat plus anger mixed in. I recommend another kdrama called Tunnel. It's about a cop who chases a serial killer into a tunnel, and d comes out the other end into the future. It's really good! That was actually my first kdrama and I've been watching kdramas ever since. I watched S1 Bad Guys and S2 Bad Guys: Vile City. Both are amazing and so good!
