@@alphakowaclips even people who watched the original seasons wouldn't have known in all honesty. Magneto's back story was only hinted at in the 90s and the country was changed because censors thought it inappropriate for a children's show. Magneto has been so much more than what the general audience thinks for so long and I love that he as a character is finally getting the understanding he deserves. The X-Men are so relevant today because the themes they cover were always relevant and despite them being one of my favorite books/shows/movies/stories I hope one day they loose the relevance.

This is probably my favorite adaptation of Magneto. He’s not the mustache twirling vilain he is in the movies. This really shows how he and professor X were just 2 sides of the same coin, that he really was just a person looking to better mutant’s situation. What a great show

He is like that it in movies because he was simplified due to time constraints of being in 1 to 2 hour films and Fox wanting the X-men to appeal to mass audiences. I do think with all that said, Ian Mckellen and Michael Fassbender still did a good job of portraying his character in the movies.

@@thathighguy6980 It's about presentation. Old X-men is an adventure/superhero story with social theme to make the story more interesting, woke writing is the reverse. It is no coincidences that Magneto is the main villain(sees mutant as superior and anyone who doesn't agree including other mutants is an enemy. A man so traumatised by being hated that he become the kind of monster he hated most: a supremacist) & Xavier is the hero(everyone is equal & has the right to live freedom & happiness) P/S: Magneto's helmet originally wasn't meant to protect him from Xavier's mind power(Magneto can already cancel out Xavier brainwave as it's just electromagnet signal), that's inspired from the movies. Originally ịt was just a helmet, then it was reveal(retcon) to be his secret weapon-a mind controlling device; he never used it because Xavier could cancel that with his own power; so if something ever happened to Xavier, everyone is f***ed. So Magneto removed his helmet when he joined the X-men showed that he really meant it when he said he will follow Xavier's path instead of literally forcing everyone to think like him(i.e he's only a good guy, if he help Xavier; if he follow his original path, he's evil)

If you've played the SMT games then the "Anti-woke" and "Woke" crowds are essentially the extremists elements of Chaos and Law aligned factions, who both vehemently hate each other and claim to know what people want/need but despite being so called "polar opposites" they both want to control people, they both refuse to accept facts from the other side and their endgame is always the same in most SMT games: humanity ends up getting screwed (except for the privileged minority in the "just us" club). At some point opposites truly do attract and it all becomes the same: chronically online folks with thin skin that get triggered over the most inconsequential subjects. When we live in a world where there's a debate over a fictional character's booty, you know we're doomed lol!

So, to the kids out there, this is what true progressive writing is like. Not beating you over the head with extreme caricatures. Not filling the cast with empty token minorities that have zero personality. Not attacking the viewer and trying to shame them. They use allegory to mirror real life and real history. Heroes and villains with relatable motivations. A story written in such a way that you feel for the plight of the victims, and start to relate to the real life equivalents of those victims. Writing like this helped move a generation of kids to reject the bigotry they were raised with and see it for the evil it is. I was raised by actual racists that actively hated minorities. I learned morality from Saturday morning cartoons like this, not some book of lies in a "holy" house of liars. Modern shows only speak to those that already believe in what they preach. Shows like this teach you how to see from another perspective, and grow from it. I feared writing like this was dead. I hope Nux watches the rest of it, despite the sub par views his reaction gets.

See, in the original comics he was found not guilty because he was recently de-aged into a baby and then re-aged back into an adult. This of course meant that he was a completely different person than the one who had performed all of that terrorism stuff.

Hope you do the 92 run. I remember as a kid we had a VHS tape that came with a Pizza Hut promotion and we’d watch the first two episodes over and over and over again show went hard.

You convinced me to watch this. I appreciate it so much. This is basically retelling old X-Men comic stories.

Btw, in that closing scene we see Magneto and rogue touch hands, but he doesnt get drained. This is actually a thing from the comics. He makes himself immune to her powers by constantly covering his body in an electromagnetic barrier. This honestly might make him a better match for rogue than gambit, 40ish year age gap aside. Although anybody would admit he is a silver fox, even in his 60s, and its not gay to say that.

Magneto had his background developed in the early '80s and explained he was a Jewish Holocaust survivor by Chris Claremont. It's when they started his redemption in the comics leading up to the trial in the comics. I love redeemed Magneto so much. They did touch on this heavily in the movies, though. The first scene of X1 and First Class both show him in the camps

1:00:13 I think the biggest issue is that they announced it before the show dropped, so ppl assumed w/o giving it a chance that the show was gonna go all in on identity politics. In the same vein, they worried nerfing Rogue’s ass was an indication that they were gonna go down the path of no sexy wahmen, like many a show today. That’s just my assumption anyways, I wasn’t too tapped into the discourse around ppl hating on it

Lol good luck gettin back home, White woman is the the show in a nutshell. But seriously the show is good woke. They subtly make Mags sympathetic while throwing light shade at Xavier with comments like "maybe he was wrong". Magneto will give Taku a hardon in the upcoming episodes. At the frantic pace they're moving i wonder if Cyclops will be the villain by season 3.

Well while he hasn’t made a singular video about it yet, I know ItsaGundam did a live stream several weeks ago, back when the first 2-3 episodes were out, where he said he thought the show was terrible. But I don’t really watch a lot of his videos, so I don’t know if his opinion has changed or not.

A bunch of the anti-woke crowd are trying their damndest to hate the show, because it was never about quality it’s about virtue signaling to keep raking in that grifter cash. If you’ve got nothing “woke” to bitch about then the checks stop coming
