We always made our own chicken ladders outta 2x6 , some L brackets, and some nuts and bolts. Made them in a few different sizes, but this thing looks pretty cool honestly, I guarantee it's a lot lighter than our old chicken ladders too. You can buy hook ladders as well that hook over the peak of the roof, but them things are way over priced. I've also used a ladder hold out, worked pretty much the same way a hook ladder works, just hooks over the peak of the roof. I like that because you have the whole size of the ladder to work off of. Hey, there's always more than one way to skin a cat !

Used to be able to get one for like 400 bucks. Can't even call that inflation so much as as soon as they got popular they decided they wanted to charge more. They also stopped giving out the discounts that they promised a bunch of organizations that they partnered with advertise themselves. In fact they literally partnered what's one of the largest engineering firms for roofing in North America and offered any one of their people a 10% discount and then turned around and took away the discount even though they kept advertising it. I will say it is an amazing product, but the people who run it are absolute frauds with absolutely no integrity, customer service, or intent to give a single crap about how they treat you. It's heartbreaking, because they genuinely have good products and good ideas

Great idea but I'd have made the steps as pegs so works for hands and feet! (Better grip!)

Why do you not tie off to an an hour point!

The goat is meant to get you up the roof so you can nail into an anchor point for your harness. It’s not meant for that. Do you, but be careful. No 2nd chances if you fall off.

A year later but do you remember what pitch that roof was? I know they say don’t exceed a 12/12 pitch but this looks almost steeper

I would not work on that steep roof without a harness. The ladder seems to work well for you, but it looks a lot less stable than a more conventional ladder.
