The funny thing is, the Old Testament doesn't really sound like it wants to claim that Yahweh is the only god anyways. The ten commandments say "you must not worship other gods" not "there are no other gods". That feels like a later development.

No. He never started as the only God. YHWH was a child of El. He was a minor member of the Elohim. He was also the serpent in the garden of Eden. When he awarded man the gift of knowledge, the other Elohim were furious that he had contaminated the experiment. They abandoned him here to fix the mess he made. He decided not to, as it was useless to try to put the toothpaste back in the tube. Instead, he decided to try to save us without returning us to an unintelligent slave race. He knew they would return and destroy the world by fire if they found he had not "fixed" the humans. So he decided to teach us to transcend the physical world by becoming immortal spirits, so only useless bodies are killed in the conflagration he preached these teachings as YHWH, and as Odin, Dionysus, Thoth, Hermes, and eventually as Jesus. Then we crucified him. Since then, his message has been supressed and corrupted to the point that virtually nobody can use it to escape the coming apocalypse. We are doomed. EDIT: it appears that above, I seem to be saying that the secret of transcendence was taught by YHVH when he went by that name. I apologise for this. His ministry began after he had already abandoned that identify, so far as I can tell.

Yeah, the most glaring problem with Yahweh is in the "omnis." Dropping a few omnis might help with believability.
@paqqmann8886
@paqqmann8886 5 жыл бұрын
So by dropping any single "omni", much less any group of them, would be detracting from what existentially makes God, God, and you essentially bestow upon Him a human characteristic by default. In order for God to be truly divine in nature, He needs to be all the things that humans cannot be--in other words, God is everything a human is not. God is everywhere at once (omnipresent); a human is not. God knows everything that ever has been or ever will be(omniscient); humans do not. God is all-powerful (omnipotent); a human is not. Those examples are, of course, overly simplified so I will delve deeper into one a bit. In 2017, we were developing a bionic eye that allows a person to see a vague, blurry image of an object that would help with visually navigating but isn't true vision by a long shot. That is state of the art "human" and a far cry from the eye's that God gave us. Therefore, God is, by any human understanding of the concept, indeed Omnipotent. So, if God is some of the things that make Him God, but in other areas, he is essentially human, then he really isn't God, is he? The point is, God is who God is, regardless of whether He fits in your personal "god box" or not. The fact that you would prefer a God you can relate to, instead of an unrelatable God you could never hope to be like, is irrelevant. I am curious, though, how would it help with believability?

@@paqqmann8886 The retina is an awful light detecting device. It has a hole in the middle, detects color only by means of combining 3 colors, not 17 like other species, and its resolution is extremely poor by comparison with cameras made by humans nearly 200 years ago. You should stick to talking about the brain. That's where vision happens, not the eye.
@paqqmann8886
@paqqmann8886 5 жыл бұрын
@@owengameing6182 You have a point, the brain is where the "magic" happens, and in comparison to other species, the human eye is dismally weak in comparison--facts. However, in making your point, you missed mine completely. I was speaking expressly about the design aspects of the eye itself--no more, no less. My point is that the "design elements" of the biological eye as created by God, human or otherwise, is infinitely more complex than that which we humans, can create with our vast array of technological marvels and advanced scientific knowledge. You read way too far into what I said and in doing so took it totally out of context, which is what Three Arrows has done with every point he seems to have made thus far in the 13 minutes I've watched his video. More to come on that though, I plan to research his information thoroughly and make my first video out of it. Stay tuned :)

@@paqqmann8886 oh no, I got your point. Believe me. As you are still "in training," I just wanted to give you some advice to help you make your point better. Don't concentrate on any of the human body's traits being "unsurpassed" by technology, unless you're talking about the brain, as it's still (as of this writing) the trickiest argument to counter. With artificial eyes, it isn't the camera technology versus the human eye that are in competition. It's the ophthalmic nerve / occipital lobe interface that's currently difficult to mimic with our technology. It has to do with how small nerve cells are, and the difficulty in distributing the impulses from light sensors directly to the visual cortex that's the problem. Hope this helps.
@paqqmann8886
@paqqmann8886 5 жыл бұрын
@@owengameing6182 Indeed, it does help further my understanding of the function of the eye and for that I thank you. But my argument doesn't rely on expert knowledge, as you've so handily shown I have no firm grasp of whatsoever. It is for that reason that the entire premise of my argument is not the complex and overly complicated, nearly incomprehensible process by which we get to the end result (what we see), but simply and exclusively the end result itself. Let me explain: I googled "robotic eye" and the first page in the results was a MedicalExpress.com article from 2017, which states: "We know from...patients that [objects are] seen as a series of bright flashes rather than as a steady perception. The world is thus flashing bursts of light arranged to represent the basic shape - like the height and width - and approximate location of an object in front of the camera." In the article is a montage of 3 pictures of an object (in this case a person standing by a window) used to simulate what the "object" would [1] look like to someone with normal vision (ironically, a still image from video camera footage); [2] a 2D high-contrast rendition of the image (the data the bionic eye used to produce a final image); and [3] what the "object" looks like to someone with a bionic eye (the final result of image processing). When I said something would look "blurry" or "hazy" to someone with a bionic eye, it was this image I used to formulate that opinion. I then used the information gleaned from the article to compare what I know about my own eyesight--being that I can see and all--and what I learned from the article about bionic eyesight and concluded that the design of a biological eye--and by inference the complicated processes thereof--is light-years beyond mankind's current capabilities to recreate it. Let me put it in a simple analogy: what a human sees is like the output of RED's top tier camera, while the output of a bionic eye is like that of an etch-a-sketch. It's that simple, bro. There is no need to delve into what it was that the inventor of the etch-a-sketch didn't understand that caused his inability to produce a device that output 8K quality images. All that extraneous, completely irrelevant information is a smoke-screen designed to confuse a person out of accepting the validity of my point. The fact that we can't reproduce true vision because we don't understand the occipital lobe/ophthalmic nerve interface has nothing to do with the fact that the end result of one eye is astronomically more advanced than the other. So, yes, I am "in training" and very new to this, but I know well enough not to argue a topic in depth if I don't have the depth of knowledge to argue it. I guess it was a good thing I was talking about what stuff looks like instead of how the brain works, huh?

@@paradisecityX0 Just like we see in every book of the Bible, it's not the Israelites who were unaware of other gods in their culture group or still others in surrounding cultures. Nor were they unaware of the conflicts between followers of different gods or the petty jealousies engendered. It is medieval and modern Christians who are "unaware" of the polytheist reality, pretending that the Bible is monotheist throughout and trying to explain away all references to surrounding mythology, especially El, Ashara, and the Elohim. I was skeptical at first that this passage implies the idea of polytheism or YHWH being bested. My idea was the translation of "handing Moab into your hands" could also be translated as "handing the Moabites into your hands" and considering its written "Israel invaded the land and slaughtered the Moabites." Depending on what translation you read, it can either show God being bested or God being credible as Israel slaughtered the Moabites. But when the passage clarifies that the firstborn was sacrificed then seemingly by divine intervention 700 men managed to reek so much wrath that Israel leaves. Polytheism remnants are still visible in the Old Testament.

Yahweh is from the Samaritans. John 4:22 Samaritans had their own temple! Within the region of Samaria, in the city of Sychar, was Jacob’s well. This was the location of Jesus’ conversation with the Samaritan woman, who asked, “Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?” (John 4:12). Later in the conversation, she brought up a centuries-old controversy: “Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem” (verse 20). “This mountain” is a reference to Mount Gerizim in the central Samaritan highlands, the place where the Samaritans had built their own temple, which they considered the true temple of God. John 4:22 You worship what you do not know; we worship what we know, because salvation begins with the Jews.

After Moab's defeat, the king sacrificed his own son (likely to Chemosh), and the Moabites were mad but still defeated (as Yahweh promised). The scripture says the Israelites "departed" on their own accord. The video poster takes one sentence from the last verse of 2 Kings 3 and misinterprets it to indicate some kind of defeat. The word "departed" does not indicate any military victory for the Moabites, but instead implies that the Israelites left on their own volition. Also they claim jesus is god yahweh himself when he is in fact yahweh's son making jesus a "gasp" DEMIGOD!. They claim all ofther pantheons are story books... Yeah well that is what the bible basically is. The bible was written centuries after jesus's death, so it is hard to know what really happen cause ot is like playing the "telephone game" stories get misconstrued over time.

Emma Darbyshire This video contains false premises. Many verses in the bible before 2 kings already explained that God planned to hand the Hebrews to their enemies for a temporary time to try to motivate them to try to reject narcissistic rituals and to try to practice kindness and humility, and it also explained that God would then free them from their enemies after this process and then defeat their enemies and have the Hebrews prosper in the long run

@@starshield7 I beg to differ with your the use of the phrase, "this video contains false premises". 1. This isn't a Christian channel, so why on earth would he approach it like a Christian? 2. The bible is full of contradictions and you know it. 3. Even though I've chosen Norse Paganism specifically for my path, doesn't mean that other religions aren't invalid. I believe in Yahweh as much as I believe in Odin. Yahweh was just a no way for me. 4. Just the differences between Jesus and Yahweh from Old to New Testament are conflicting enough. First god spoke to people in person, was violent and bloody in helping the Hebrews take over (not that some violence isn't justified, I'm just pointing out it wasn't a "peaceful" religion), and generally rained hell fire down on anyone who even misspoke. What happens in the New Testament to sinners? Nothing but promises of a hellish afterlife if you don't fall in line and no live communication with God 🤷🏼‍♀️

@@AgentK87 Now your reply has a lot of misrepresentations, let me explain: 1) People don't have to be christian to avoid misrepresenting the bible by making sentences that are not in the book... strawmen are examples of bad research.... mr "ocean" made claims without proving them with evidence, even atheists can acknowledge this flaw in mr "ocean" here. 2) I see no proof of the bible claiming that there is eternal punishment... if medieval Europeans add words to the bible that was written by Hebrews, why choose to believe the medieval Europeans for some reason lol?.. .. 3) The bible explains that the *physical* source and sustainer of physics is literally a person, not a thing, that many people call God, Yahweh, etc, and it also explains that morality has physical force in life, and that the source of physics tries to balance suffering and pleasure to try to motivate everyone to try to practice kindness and humility, and that the source of physics tries to have this as an aspect of paradise (and morality done through pure will power makes morality and paradise authentic. Thus it makes sense to value the physical source if physics and virtue more than anyone else by default and just merely see everyone else as siblings without actually worshiping them. This is the real virtue and conscepts in the bible according to it's original translation from what I know of, and that the wisdom in the original bible from what I know of is legitimately superior to the Norse paganism from what I'm convinced of. Also I'm German and Swedish descent myself so I can an relate to certain reminants of nordic sentiments from living with my family and socializing with my relatives.

@@starshield7 is this a debate on morals or on whether or not this is a misrepresentation of the Bible? Because if it's about a misrepresentation of the Bible, I can run with that. Comparing morals with one another really holds no value unless we can agree on a moral standard. I'm glad you've found your path, whatever that is because it's definitely NOT the Christianity I lived for 18 years of my life. As for verses on permanent condemnation? Revelations 19:20, 2 Thessalonians 1:9, Matthew 25:41 & 46, Daniel 12:2, need I go on? The Bible promises damnation and eternal punishment multiple, multiple times. Besides though just condemnation after death, in the Old Testament God actually forced people to do his will ie. Exodus 9:12, where God hardened Pharaoh's heart, then punished him afterwards. I have no issue with Jesus himself, he condemned the religious practices of the Jews because they weren't genuine. It was all props and costumes. I don't see the entire bible though teaching us about physics or how the universe balances pleasure with pain. That sounds way more like a Pagan idea than a Christian one. I completely agree that Christian morality isn't bad. It's actually very useful and practical. HOWEVER, it's not the only belief system that includes similar rules. Out of pure curiosity, if you're not a Christian, why are you arguing with a stranger on the internet about whether the bible is being misrepresented or not? Like, you came to me. I'm more than happy to play along with this, but I'd like some honesty about our stance. As for background, I appreciate that you tried to identify with me by talking about your ethnic background, but in truth that's utterly irrelevant to me. I am of German, Danish and Icelandic ancestry, but religion shouldn't be exclusive to ethnicity. I only chose Norse Paganism because I literally felt called. There's no logical explanation or way that I can explain it with what words we currently have other than the gods called me and I answered.
@starshield7

@@AgentK87 Morality is part of talking about the information in the bible. Your christian upbringing is apparently false with teachers using failed research, I checked the grammar and Greek translations of a certain part of a word in the verses that you typed; apparently the word "ever" has multiple meanings in Greek (the language that Hebrews used to write the new Testament) and *three* of those meanings translating as "sometimes", "occasionally" and "ever" (again), "everlasting" in English is too vague to describe infinity in the bible, and the bible already has verses explaining that if you repent from sin and ask Jesus to be your savior (etc) you will be saved, without mention of a deadline to that promise... and even verses in the new testament explained that after Jesus died, he preached his gospel to people in hell... does all this not suggest salvation without infinite punishment? You chose to believe the flawed teachings of your Christian teachers for some reason.... why didn't you try to challenge them with actual proper grammar and language translations before giving up? I did not say pleasure "with" pain, I tried to explain that the source of physics (as God is described to be in the bible) tries to *balance* life in such a way to try to motivate each person to try to practice kindness and humility through will power. According to the bible, morality has physical force in life, not arbitrariness.... the physical implications of that concept being real is by default more important than what norse paganism preaches from what I've learned of it so far. Can you address the physicality of morality in this conversation?

Yahweh remains Undefeated. This is not an overturned prophecy, but rather the fulfillment of 1 prophecy, 2 Kings 3:10-20.and an example of God keeping his word from Deutoeronomy 2:9. not sure which translation you're using but the KJV reads 2 Kings 3:10-20 10 And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab! 11 But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the Lord, that we may enquire of the Lord by him? And one of the king of Israel's servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah. 12 And Jehoshaphat said, The word of the Lord is with him. So the king of Israel and Jehoshaphat and the king of Edom went down to him. 13 And Elisha said unto the king of Israel, What have I to do with thee? get thee to the prophets of thy father, and to the prophets of thy mother. And the king of Israel said unto him, Nay: for the Lord hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab. 14 And Elisha said, As the Lord of hosts liveth, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward thee, nor see thee. 15 But now bring me a minstrel. And it came to pass, when the minstrel played, that the hand of the Lord came upon him. 16 And he said, Thus saith the Lord, Make this valley full of ditches. 17 For thus saith the Lord, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts. 18 And this is but a light thing in the sight of the Lord: he will deliver the Moabites also into your hand. 19 And ye shall smite every fenced city, and every choice city, and shall fell every good tree, and stop all wells of water, and mar every good piece of land with stones. 20 And it came to pass in the morning, when the meat offering was offered, that, behold, there came water by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water. You'll see in verse 19 "He will deliver the MOABITES also INTO YOUR HAND" NOT "hand Moab over to you" as is shown in the cherry picked translation used to present this arguement online, and in this video. What happens to Israel or what Israel does after they(THE MOABITES NOT MOAB) have been delivered into their hand is irrelivant to the prophecy. Period. 2 Kings 3:27 says this was king Meshas son who was to rule in his stead, If Israel had Killed King Mesha and taken Moab, Moab would have belonged to Israel as a property which God forbids in Deuteronomy 2:9 9 And the Lord said unto me, Distress not the Moabites, neither contend with them in battle: for I will not give thee of their land for a possession; because I have given Ar unto the children of Lot for a possession. So it should come as no surprise that a great indignation from God should come against Israel for attempting to take possesion of Moab. Their beef was with King Mesha who refused to continue paying them. Please forgive my formatting, spelling, and grammar, I'm not a writer. At 5:12 into the video the narrator says "The Moabites claiming victory and attributing it to Chemosh isn't quite enough to say that Yahweh was defeated by Chemosh, and a struggle between people isn't quite a struggle between the gods,(and he's right) BUT WE HAVE THE BIBLE" except you don't. there was no over turned prophecy because the prophecy was carried out to the letter in the KJV. The Bible reffers to a great Indignation against Israel, Indignation is considered the only form of anger that isn't sinful and is typically attributed to Gods anger. They left because their God was angry at them, it's pretty clear. Whether it's because he didn't want them to posess Moab, or perhaps the sacrifice Mesha was pushed towards reminded God of the sacrifice He'd one day make for us (or as the Talmud suggests, it mirrored the sacrifice Abraham was willing to make of Isaac(which mirrors Christ's sacrifice)) isn't made clear to us in the Biblical text What is clear is that they left because of THEIR GOD, not Chemosh. What we have here is a case of he said she said, King Mesha in the Moabite stone says Chemosh helped him swamp the Israelites from the get go, and the Bible says Elishas prephecy of Israel smiting every fenced and choice city, and felling the trees, stopping wells, and having THE MOABITES delivered INTO THEIR HAND, came to pass. However Kings who have lost have chosen to monumnetize false victories throughout history such as Egypt creating monuments for their victory in the 1973 Yom Kippur War which they lost, and that was recent back in the day a Moabite king could write down whatever history he wanted. I suppose the same could be said for the Bible. However, The Moabite Stone also proves the historical accuracy of multiple locations and people mentioned in the Bible thought to be non historical , because the stone actually proved the Bible to be an accurate source of info on some subjects odds weigh heavily in favor that The Biblical account is factual, were King Mesha was allowed to live on and write the story as he saw fit, depicting his and his gods false victory over their enemy as you might expect. Between about 7:00 and around 7:24ish the narrator is explaining the biblical description of the battle then he just goes ahead and says "Chemosh enters the battle and over turns Yahwehs prophecy", that information comes from King Meshas Moabite stone, not the Bible. There are hundreds of debates about Biblical accuracy left to be had this is but one claim that turned out to be false, I encourage all of you to continue to question everything but don't just assume that because someone did some research on stuff other people researched that it's the whole story or the truth. I don't expect the narrator to change his mind about his beliefs or his stance on possible Biblical inaccuracies but I hope this insight helped him recognize that this particular example is not an example of Prophecy over turned or unfulfilled and is not a reliable example of Yahweh being defeated. I realize that many atrocities have been committed in the name of Christianity by so called "Christians" but this goes against Christs teachings, most of you wouldn't slander anyone's religious beliefs yet for some reason think it's ok to blatantly slander Christians? Many of you have likely been scoffed at and ridiculed by "Christians" for your beliefs, that's not what the Bible teaches either. I hope that anyone who read this far is wise enough not to ridicule anyone for their beliefs including Christians. I'm sure the narrator has many excellent videos about the various pantheons of gods and I'm looking forward to checking them out since I take a great interest in all of them. He's right in saying most Christians call these other gods false gods or demons, or outright don't believe in them, the Bible teaches they're mostly fallen angels whom God has bestowed the task to watch over the nations, and who disobey him leading people to believe they are their creators and providers, teachers and demand to be worshiped as gods (exactly as you'd expect higher beings who fell to do). God allows this because he wants us to choose him, he gave us free will and that includes the angels, they are free to seduce humanity and we're free to follow them, just as we're free to kill if we choose, we're not and they're not exempt from repercussions. Many of these angels are still allowed a place on the Divine council as seen in the book of Job, and whether benevolent or malevolent all of them answer his beckon call including satan. I believe your gods are real, because the Bible says so. Just as a death, and jail time for murder is a result of actions, so is the corruption of humanity and the punishment of the rebellious angels and non repentant sinners the result of satans and our actions, regardless of the subversion of Gods original plan for humanity, we'll all end up where we belong. Thanks for reading, this last paragraph was intended to clear up the Christian slander at the start of the video, and share a misunderstood part of what myself and other Bible believing Christians believe. You're all free to choose any god you want, I'm not trying to impose my beliefs with this writing but please don't ridicule Christians for their beliefs or anyone for that matter. Peace and Grace to you all, and God bless you! Please don't delete my comment, also I do feel like because this is not accurate information you really should take the video down, knowing what we know now, it's doing your viewers a disservice, looking forward to keeping my mouth shut and checking out some of your other videos.

An excellent piece and presentation. As a former Jehovah's Witness for 20+ years I could never safely discuss these sorts of anomalies with anyone. "Truly, Brothers, studying the Bible is guaranteed to make you atheist !"

Brother, how can you say reading the Bible will make you athiest? The BIBLE IS JUST LITERATURE written by CHARLATANS.... If reading it makes you athiest, you must of went in with the assumption that either God's real & the Bible's perfect or the Bible contains bs & therefore God's not real. That's a logical fallacy called the False Dilemma, or the Black & White fallacy. That's the problem with you people (both Christians & Athiests alike are guilty of this!) Putting the Bible on a pedestal to the point where the existence of God hinges on whether some literature ( the bible) contains bs in it or not. Are you so dense you cannot tell the difference between literature written by self proclaimed spokespersons for God, and God himself? The real God has nothing to do with the Bible - the so called "holy" bible was compiled by Gods enemies, the Archons, to mislead people & portray God in a terrible way. Any reasonable person can see that the bible is just literature written by people and so it has nothing to do with whether there's a God!!!!!!!!

The world isn't just christian and atheist. And it is silly that only one book can cause one to be atheist. I am not christian. I am not an atheist. I am not religious at all. Study other beliefs and religions and decide then. Whenever an atheist say that they had read the bible and is now an atheist, then I ask, do other religions not mean anything? Is christianity the only religion? Are you simply ignoring and denying other religions and beliefs? I personally hate the whole abrahamic god, I think it is an evil being, but there are other deities that aren't as vainglorious and malevolent as yahweh/allah. I don't follow any gods, but I don't deny any of them. The possibities are still out there.

And there were little philosophical bits of everything everywhere. As I arrived at old age I had learned that there are as many opinions on life as there are people and my religion was no more believable than many others. In fact, it was downright detrimental ! @Lawn Mower I take this as the Israelites were supposed to trust Yahweh for the victory that He said He would give them. Them Mesha, the King of Moab made a ritualistic sacrifice to the god Chemosh in view of the Israelites. He likely did this in hopes of receiving demonic empowerment from the god. As the Israelites saw this they lost their faith and became fearful of this power and of this god. Therefore, Yahweh removed His hand from them and allowed them to lose because they didn't trust Him when He said He would give them the victory.

Yahweh remains Undefeated. This is not an overturned prophecy, but rather the fulfillment of 1 prophecy, 2 Kings 3:10-20.and an example of God keeping his word from Deuteronomy 2:9. not sure which translation you're using but the KJV reads 2 Kings 3:10-20 10 And the king of Israel said, Alas! that the Lord hath called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Moab!

Interesting video! Here is my take on it. The only people I remember being mentioned as child sacrifices was the Carthage pantheon and there is proof of that now. Also, to my knowledge, whenever something is done it's because of an angel God sent who is his hand so to speak and so has a chance to fail against other powers like when David (or Daniel? One of those D named guys) was in jail and prayed to God for help. Eventually an angel comes and says he would have gotten a reply sooner but the last angel sent was ambushed and so a stronger angel was sent. I remember reading that as a kid and going, wait, why didnt God send the right angel for the job the first time? But now that I think about it, God gave angels and humans free will which means we learn from our mistakes and maybe God was giving an angel a chance to prove himself or something. Definitely interesting to think about.

Just keep telling yourself YHWH isn't a con artist and a thief. A despicable traitor to his own kin. When he messes up he just makes his vassels say he intended this result all along. Just a petty braggart who happened to have servants more capable than himself.

A respectable statement you have at 8:16 I do agree that polytheism is true and exists with every culture in civilization. As far as strength, to which I find a mundane prospect, the spirit or entity you worship does not need be powerful. They get power from our prayer/chant/spells that will source us to them. The more to prayer the more present the being. I had saw many strange things on my journey through limbo, and that was something that scares me to this day.

Is there another passage you’re pulling from that you hadn’t mentioned in the video?

When you come to the realization that everything in the Bible was written by humans you begin to understand why there are glaring ommissions and significant conflicts within the different texts of the scriptures. Assuming this was actually an historical event, do you think that the Hebrew scribes who wrote down the texts from the oral tradition would want to include anything that would make Yahweh look weaker than another god? Of course not! They knew they had to include the defeat in their history, but it was reframed as an apparent chastisement by Yahweh. The survivors get to write the text however they wish. Never forget that.

When you read the Bible in is cultural context, this makes perfect sense. This is a polytheistic society with many gods, gods who have different roles; some are attributed to the sea, the storm, others to the earth, the sun and so on. One thing they got in common is that they are not all powerful. Even the creator gods in Babylon, Apsu and Tiamat, were later destroyed by their own creation (Ea and Marduk). It was only later on that Yahweh would grow in importance and eventually become the only God, the all powerful creator.

It's interesting. Thinking about it myself, I sometimes think the Yeshua is representative of El, being that the actions of Christ and the personality of the god of Genesis seem to mesh well with each other. It was when I was thinking about Exodus is when I epiphanied that the god of the Bible did a complete 180 with his personality, commanding for things that he would've been shocked at the thought before. It was with this and the tale of Isaiah and Yahweh against the former god of the Isrealites, Baal, that I thought that the Bible of the Old Testament signified three gods throughout its run before Christ transformed it with the New Testament. But that's just my opinion.

@@drsamkfelix You have to read the context of the books. In Genesis, God (described as El) was a lot like a doting grandfather. He treated the characters of the book playfully, allowing them to win challenges with a chuckle and He was pretty chill. And at the end, God actually felt regret after the Flood much like how someone realized that they made a huge mistake in handling something important and dear to them. Then, when Exodus happened, God's personality seems to do a turnaround, being vindictive toward others and promoting violence among His followers. It was The Book of Isaiah that made me think that the God that ended up wasn't the God of Genesis. In that book, it was stated that the Isrealites worshiped an entity named Baal and when Isaiah came in with Yahweh and successfully converted the Isrealites to Yahweh, that's when Yahweh became the main deity in their culture. So logically, in the expanse of the Bible, the Jews went from El to Baal to Yahweh. And as to the thought that Yeshua might be a return of El is because the personality of El in Genesis and the personality of Jesus in the New Testament are shockingly similar to each other. Of course, It's just speculation on my part, so unless there's proof that can be agreed upon by theologians, it's just a hypothesis.

I loved this - I hadn't heard of this particular battle of the Gods before. I am familiar with the tale of the priests of Baal going up in a god battle with Yahwehs prophet Elijah... If I am remembering that right? It ends with Jahweh sending down fire and burning a Bull on a pyre - and all 500 priests of Baal are slaughtered ... Anyway great story!

About that tale of the supposedly "divine fire" consuming the offering... Here's an interesting tidbit I've dug up about that supposedly "magical" fire that came down from "Jahweh": A recent program on the History channel pointed out that “Elijah” lived in a time when they had the ability to start a fire using quicklime (burned limestone), sulfur & charcoal - plus other flammable materials. Therefore the ‘miracle’ described at the above scripture, may have been due to a judicious mixture of this recipe, placed below the wood, to ignite when the water was poured over the wood… “How do you make Fire with naphtha quicklime and block sulfur? Answer: 1.) Mix the Sulfur (block) and Quicklime together. 2.) Combine that mixture with combustible material (various size pieces of wood from kindling to small pieces) making a compact design. 3.) Make sure that the area can get good ventilation. 4.) Pour water over the entire mixture of Wood, Sulfur, & Quicklime. 5.) The EXOTHERMIC reaction that then takes place "should" be hot enough to ignite the wood into a fiery mass.” From: wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_make_Fire_with_naphtha_quicklime_and_block_sulfur Also see Isaiah 30:33 [ESV] which mentions a stream of fire ‘kindling’ the pyre… “33 For a burning place[e] has long been prepared; indeed, for the king it is made ready, its pyre made deep and wide, with fire and wood in abundance; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of sulfur, kindles it.” Which strongly indicates that Elijah fully understood the effects of sulfur in relation to the ignition of fires.

I have met people that call the whole Bible " bull crap " to that single book alone, cause the wizard the Baal priest called in to Curse the Israelites had a talking donkey. You can't take a religion serious if it says animals can talk, cause animals can't .. Talk ! Then again those same people can't wrap their heads around the concept that other cultures around the world also had stories of talking animals. Also pagan witches and wild wise men/ women have always said animals can talk, only humans forgotten or refuse to listen cause of their own egos keep getting in the way of .. hearing.
