The Goddess In Art is a cable TV series that began in 1986 and ran until 1991. Dedicated to the Return of the Goddess, the series explored the legacy of this oldest tradition in art as well as feminist spirituality in contemporary art. The moderator, Starr Goode, interviewed scholars to uncover Her suppressed history and artists who were inspired by a radical re-imagining of the feminine.
Witch, peace activist, and teacher of earth-based, feminist spirituality, Starhawk visits the show to celebrate the 10 year anniversary and reissue of The Spiral Dance, a seminal book on the religion of the Goddess. The conversation reflects on the zeitgeist of the Goddess movement and the many books being published about Her and how much the Goddess has become a part of modern consciousness. A momentous time with Berlin Wall coming down and the end of the Cold War. Starhawk speaks of the importance of renewal through spiritual practice to avoid burnout from political activism.

Thanks for sharing! As a domestic abuse survivor (left over 20 years ago now) made far more aware of equality, dialog, sustainability, and things Goddess in relation to art, "art is magic" and all that, I make Goddess pendants from clay. I'm learning to paint too, but keep coming back to sculpting beads or figures, beads in particular because because they're portable and go anywhere. Naturally, I want to thoroughly explore what other Goddess pendants are out there -- of glass, paper, metal, wood, resin, mixed media, and clay -- and yet I see nearly anything but actual Goddess beads/pendants or focal beads when I search for Goddess jewelry/beads/pendants on youtube. Most of the results I get are hardly relevant to actual Goddess beads and jewelry, which are art forms in their own right. How curious. I know there's a wealth of actual Goddess beads out there. (Not only that, but youtube is presently constantly playing ads for the new 2016 Witch movie, one full of old scary, sexist stereotypes. Ugh.) Search results seem to heavily suggest the word Goddess has been largely disempowered by strident commercialized use more in line with myopic hyper-sexualized world views toward women. However, I notice more women are open to figurative Goddess beads, art, and ultimately, dialog, even if they aren't a bit Pagan. Overall, it seems some ground has been lost and some gained since this video was first made...I just wish we'd see more of the gain, more of the dialog that's opened up, translated into actual political economic and other policies today that are more respectful towards women, children, and the earth. On the other hand, if I search enough and in the right places, I can see a wealth of Goddess beads, actual Goddess beads and jewelry, on Pinterest boards, in Easy shops, on Instagram, and on blogs. It's just not always easy to find them in searches, as search engines tend to favor traditional, common, and particularly more commercialized world views or things. I guess things establishment or commercial have disproportionate input in shaping focus, tastes, and how online search engines feed us results and how relevant those results are or aren't. Anyway, now I'm going to look for more of The Goddess in Art TV series!

Catholic Church tell me about it, total disempowerment of women when I was growing up in Ireland.😖 Glad it has changed and has not got such a hold in Ireland. 🙏
