"DMs have the final say. They are not always right." is the mentality I approach it with. They have authority, but that makes their mistakes hit harder.

@@ImFangzBro Well said! The DM is the one that makes a decision to ensure the game keeps its momentum, and if the party has a problem with that decision then it’s something to talk about as a group, not argue about in the moment

Hosting Dark Heresy... I looked at the mini tiny rules in tons and tons of things to remember and calculate and went with "whatever feels right and players enjoy"
@AroWrites

From what I'm aware of Dark Heresy, those pages and pages of tables are mostly there for your reference if needed. The Warp is fickle, if something else feels more appropriate then that other thing will happen!

Honestly I like precise rules because I like working with and around the limits. But sometimes due to some technicality or bad mechanics you cannot achieve your reasonable fantasy. I'm more strict towards myself than to others so I rarely ask for lenience, but I can agree on compromises for others if their choice is mechanically suboptimal.

I agree on being stricter to myself than others. Cause I know I can have fun even within limitations, but I don't wanna force that on anyone else. I think that's just a sign of respecting the fact that everyone has different desires!

Yeah always room to compromise so everyones enjoying! Its meant to be fun and sometimes failing hard can be apart of it; Can go from "If you roll another fail i'm gonna laugh" to 'The GM dying with laughter as he looks up the odds for just how badly things went and tears of joyful dispair from the players'. Funs meant to be fun but sometimes you just gotta let those dice roll and have their own story! Oh and for anyone who doesn't like long combat turns. Star Trek Adventures or Vampire The Masqurade. Short, story/mechanically driven deadly combat!

Funny enough, VtM is probably the TTRPG I talk about second-most often on this channel. Always tryna shill the World of Darkness to folks!

"this game should be fun" is the core philosophy i've had since day one of making my own TTRPG Quasar, and while balance matters, it only does so long as imbalance interferes with that fun.
@AroWrites
@AroWrites 8 күн бұрын
Exactly! Particularly in a game where the main source of balance is between players on the same team, so long as everyone's having fun that's really all that matters. Though you're making the TTRPG Quasar, you say? If you're interested in sharing, feel free to hop on the discord server. Always happy hearing about new indie games!
