"You have to be a streamer to be a vtuber" has to the biggest lie the community has imposed upon everyone. It's like everyone forgot where they came from, and what the TUBER part in Vtuber means.

I was gonna say…if you’re “just” making KZbin videos and not streaming, you are *literally* a Vtuber.

You really are a good KZbinr. I like these "pose a question, insert an opinion/advice" videos. It's a good way to get information from you to the audience without being a faux news person. Also, the baka thing is kinda cute ngl

I was so scared of doing ASMR Roleplays for a long time because I was so SO scared of "being cringe" and was nervous that everyone would hate me due to all the stigma around it etc. Little did I know that was my CRAZY passion and it's been a hit with my audience because they see and recognize the work and passion I put behind it. I'm making content more frequently than I ever did before and it does not burn me out in the slightest! Don't cater to your peers, cater to yourself and lean into those passions!

Same. I love livestreaming games. I don't like streaming to empty chatrooms, so I focused on YT video production and I'm finding myself far more productive and in a good place. The gamer streamer vtuber market is crowded, especially on Twitch. Solid advice as usual Mari, keep up the good work.

I think this is also a problem with content creators in generals, I know irl youtubers who focus more on the negative comments or the subscribers who unsubscribe to them . Even going as far as saying youtube should have a feature that shows the user who unsubscribed so they can ask them why, and get a chance make them resubscribe. It surprises me how much they value the negative viewers over the positive, even going as reading out load the negative comments and ignoring the positive. Even if I explain how youtube deletes bot subscribers, which is why they lose a sub or two and its not a big deal, or how few dislikes isn't a big deal. You'd think you'd want to spoil and highlight the positive viewers, but it is common for creators to ignore and not even talk about them.

This is definitely helpful advice. As a future male Vtuber, trying to figure out how to fit into this space and not make the same mistakes others have made in the past has been on my mind and this is an excellent way to go about it. I know I love mecha games and sports games and that’s what my content should be focused on

I used to write a lot of fanfiction back in the day, still do, was even part of a bigger group that wrote together. I always tried to appeal to everyone in my writing and I began hating it. It wasn’t until some internal drama exploded and a lot of other things went down that I realized how unhappy I was. I wasn’t writing for me, but for everyone else. I even wanted to quit. I realized that if I appeal to everyone, I will appeal to no one and I would hate myself for it. It felt like an office job at times. Learning not to appeal to everyone, to ignore the haters and the people who are the minority made me a lot happier. I don’t write much anymore but when I do and I get negative comments I just laugh. It took years for me to realize it was just words. It’s the same for content creation. My content doesn’t get many views, and I might not appeal to lots of people but I don’t care. I have fun, even if I get 10 or 20 views. If you focus on that, you won’t focus on having fun with creating things, and it’s super important. I have more fun playing games and making videos, and even though I do wanna stream, I just can’t. Perhaps in the future. Tl:dr, Mari is right, don’t be a baka and enjoy what you do lol. Thanks for the awesome advice, Mari, you are among the many that inspire me and I just wanna enjoy myself. Also I’m broke, I can’t afford a titty cup, send help.

This was one of my biggest fears when I first started doing videos. Being cringe and not making good content but I had to step back and tell myself that I'm learning all this from scratch so I can afford to have bad content right now until I find my stride. I'm going to keep at it and hopefully learn all I can to make more quality content.

I feel like I also tried to put too much focus into being a good streamer and also making things perfect, when in reality, I feel like I'm absolutely horrible at streaming. Not to say that I don't make decent streams, but I noticed that sometimes I lose focus or just stop talking for a while and try to think of things to talk about because of pressure or anxiety or whatever. Of course it'll get better with doing it more often (and I definitely want to try to get all my tech issues and vtuber scuff things figured out so I can), but I honestly just love making normal videos. It fits better with my schedule and I feel that planning things out ahead of time even to a small degree really helps me focus my content into something that's both enjoyable and easily digestable. That being said, I still do enjoy live streaming because it allows me to share the excitement, the scuff, and the laughs with my viewers, and that just makes certain moments feel better than normal videos do.

Because in vseeface u can put them on top of ur model and they move with it, but for example, plushies, a chair, a table, etc, i dont want them to move, and in obs i've been struggling with sizing them or putting things behind my character! I hope u can dive in this subject eventually, great work as ever

I think the reason people emphasize streaming is because of the notorious cringe that is VTweeters, people who CLAIM they're going to start streaming any day now, and often have poured a bunch of time and money into assets for their VTuber model, but just won't get off their asses and start making content. Since Streaming is the most common content for VTubers currently, it's also natural that people default to that. But that isn't to say that VTubers need to stream to be "real" VTubers - it's short for Virtual KZbinr after all and began with edited content before VTuber-streaming took off. What matters is not whether you stream or make videos, but that you make *content,* be it streams, shorts, songs or socks. As long as you're actually making something and putting it out there for people to see, you're doing at least one step of the process right.

I think reason why a lof of Vtubers try to appeal everyone is because they want to gain praise, attention, or jusy somebody telling them "Wow you are so cool and funny." I think it is just us being human, so it seems look normal. We all want to feel appreciation from others for what we do or say, but the reality is that no everyone will share the same value. Not everyone will like your content with a reason or no reason at all. If there is anyone who you should appease to, then it should be yourself first and foremost.

When I first started vtubing, a friend at the time who was helping my friend and I said my friend would get more followers and more in general due to her voice being cuter. I wish I never listened to that advice because it put me in a bad mental space. Where, instead of working together and being happy for both our victories, however small, I was jealous. I kept trying to prove I was good enough, and all because I was told such negative advice. It turned out that people liked me for me, it didn't matter that my voice was deeper than other female vtubers. Or that my mic or video was sometimes scuffed. The people that genuinely cared for my content stayed. I'm busy at the moment with real life things, and they are still staying and waiting for me to start streaming again. I'm happy with my small community and love what I have. My advice, don't compare yourself with others. Do your own thing and the right people who will enjoy your content will come.

Considering i watch your stuff and leave comments and likes a lot i am surprised i was not subscribed. Though i pose a question to you Mari, what if the type of content you do best is the type that you can not get into much? like your heart is just not there but it is what you excel at type of content. Like what would one do then if they don't wanna do what they are best at as they find it boring no matter how they do it? If ya keep trying new things with what you are best at to try and actually enjoy it you are gonna burn yourself out of content creation as you find what you are best at boring no matter what. I know what i am best at, but it is just not something i like doing as it is not true to me, and my channel would have been deleted by me long ago if i did what i was best at even if i seen big numbers as again it is not true to me so it shouldn't be. As i just don't like that type of idea or content/concept There are also things i won't do despite being pretty competent at and despite not being illegal as it would probably violate KZbin's Arbitrary ToS and unless i am a big creator to get to talk to a Human at KZbin over Twitter for some reason welp the channel would never come back then. It really does suck that you have some great ideas but don't do them as you fear that they might be too much of a grey line in the rules or ToS that it would get the channel deleted anyways but back in the early days of KZbin would be completely A-OK

Shy Lily, Filian an Iron mouse are at the top of the pack exactly because they don't care what others think there there have fun with their community if you don't like what's going on you're welcome to leave and if you cause drama Lily's mods will ban you and then Lilly will make fun of you, Iron mouse will just tell you to fuck off and other will ban you in a second. Lily suggest what other V tubers are doing what equipment they have what models they have just dream as if there is no one there if you can't be happy streaming to no one then you won't be happy streaming to 10 a hundred 1000 people and that's the true key just be happy doing what you're doing as you stream and the people will find you don't worry about the rest at all falls into place if it's meant to be it's meant to be and my final word is once we come to chore and it doesn't make you happy quit, find something else that does make you happy.

Personally, i think you're better youtuber than a streamer. Not to sound mean, but objectively speaking, you can still make lives if you wanna play something and interact with your audience, but to me, a casual enjoyer of your channel, your stream is kinda boring, ¿why? Simple: You are too chill and i'm NOT a stream viewer!! What *i* think most vtubers do not understand is that, stream and video audiences are ENTIRELY different!!! And were you SHINE THE MOST, is with your video content, and that's why, that's where your audience is at. I know you struggled a ton with the type of content you make, but i think, overall, you are a better cc of videos, rather than a streamer; and you don't have to hold yourself up to THOSE standars that someone else made up, you can make whatever you want, the vtubingspace has a lot of potential and rarely someone exploits it Also, i really think you have a ton of potential, simply by making videos of stuff you like or wanna do, all while hearing what your audience has to say, just like you are doing right now.❤
