For those wondering ... those stamps appear to be 1/4". The box will say 1/4 inch but the letter actually measures 3/16" tall. There is a tool holder available for those of you worried about smashing your fingers while stamping. Stamps CAN go flying if you catch off-centre hits with the hammer. You'd hate to slice a stamp into your dog. More detailed stamps (other than letters) can be quite difficult to reset in the exact same spot to deepen your impression so if you're using those you might want to seriously consider the punch holder and give it a good smash ONCE. Stamps don't wear out quickly enough to worry about unless you cheap out buying them. Chromed clubs will require an even heavier hit and therefore aren't friendly with detailed stamps as you might require multiple hits. I would plan to stamp on a very solid surface and move to the corner of the table where the leg is directly under your work area. Hopefully this helps answer some of the questions.

Checked out Lee Valley. They sell 2, 3, and 5 mm. If some of the other posters are correct, the 5mm will be the closest to 1/4" stamp.

You can also use some nail clear coat once its dried to add a little depth, shine, and protection. Do it to all my wedges i paint.

Have your anvil or pounding surface at least as high as your club and it needs to be near the edge of your table so the shaft hangs off the edge

I can’t get the stamp to leave anything even resembling a deep imprint and I’m hitting it way harder than you hit it. I’ve tested 2 old clubs now.
