I once staying at an all inclusive resort in mexico. I was well developed, in a city, had manicured yards and landscaping, etc. It was no more jungle like than a big hotel in miami. Yet for some reason, the back yard of the property was absolutely filled with burrows and tarantulas. Not as big as this one, but huge. I will never forget walking along in the dark with a flashlight and suddenly seeing tarantulas EVERYWHERE in the sandy/grassy yard. I've never been so horrified in my life. I didn't even want to stand near them. Freaked me out so bad. But eventually my curiously led me to mess with them a little. Turns out they all had their own little hole/burrow and most of them, it you touched them with a stick, would go into their burrow. It was really kind of cool but also I'd never want to live near such a place. There was a point where I touched one with a stick and instead of going in its burrow, it ran toward me and over my foot. I'm in no way suggesting it was attacking me or anything- it was just scared and running away. But I started screaming like a little girl-scout and ran for like 100 yards!!!! hahaha. I'm still embarassed by my over reaction but I couldn't help it! Tarantulas are scary even to me as a man. YIKES!!

I dont think arachnophobia is irrational though, its an evolutionary fear and the reason women particularly are more prone to fear of spiders and wasps is more than likely to protect unborn children. The same could be said of fear of rodents and snakes.

@Bav-s30z4 жыл бұрын
@Steve Backshall Am I the only one who looks at these as a biological Hydraulic crawling machine? Which is kind of true, because their blood systems act sort of like a hydraulic crane-arm joint, considering this species is a mygalomorphae, they are primitive and evolved far-less, meaning they have an ill-temper. And they are bulkier and more aggressive-looking than a modern jumping spider or a wolf-spider. Its impossible not to imagine one in the terminator.

i really dislike those channels that kidnap bugs of various species and force them to fight to the death in an unescapable enclosure. studying them in their natural habitat is the only ethical means of studying them. if i found a spider that big in my home i'd be too afraid to try to kill it or try to relocate it outside. i think i'd just move.
