My entire family would run to the tv when the Gene theme started. Jeez, we would go into a frenzy sometimes. Breaking lamps and shit, LOL. Even in the summer, my Mom would yell out the window to me and my sisters and friends "GENE GENE IS ON!!!!!!" and we'd fly into my living room, having the best times ever. I'm 54 now and a lot of my family and old friends are gone already. I'm very grateful for these clips. VERY grateful.

The world needs Gene now. Wouldn’t it be great if every time there was an altercation of any kind outta nowhere the music would start playing and Gene would appear with the dance. Everyone would stop fighting and go home happy. Miss that guy.

Gene Gene The Dancing Machine was a big part of my childhood! I remember when I used to watch the Gong Show On T.V. and each time I saw Gene Gene the dancing machine dance on stage I would go crazy and then I would jump off the couch and dance in front of the television !! He was a trip!! my favorite character on the Gong Show.
@tomsurber22932 жыл бұрын
My college friends and I always planned our class schedules so we could be together to watch "The Gong Show" each day, and whenever we'd start to hear that piano riff signaling it was time for our guy Gene Gene to hit the stage, we were all borderline hysterical with glee. Gene and Chuck brought an incredible amount of silliness and fun to us all, and we could sure use some of that these days.

When I was a kid, this was the main reason I was watching this. I was too young to understand the comedians and most of the jokes involved. Every night I waited for Gene Gene's music to start and then I'd start dancing around the living room.

The grace of Fred Astaire...choreography better than Bob Fosse...originality that surpasses Alvin Ailey...production that dwarfs A Chorus Line...power greater than The Bolshoi. This is dance at it's highest level. It will never be matched....ever.

Barris also used Count Basie's "Fantail" on "The Dating Game" during its run in the sixties and early seventies on ABC. It played when Jim Lange introduced the three bachelors (or, occasionally, three bachelorettes).

Gene's tune was Count Basie 's "Jumpin' at the Woodside", He was an NBC stagehand who in time became effectively Chuck Barris # 2. Milton De Lugg's "Band of Thugs", often sounded a lot like the Tijuana Brass. He always started up this one in near-stealth fashion, building his volume gradually.
