Love SRU! It was close enough to the city Pittsburgh as well as the country McConnells Mills. My experience there prepared me for anything. Class sizes were small and you really get to know your professors.

Class of 84....BS in Biology...a B student.....scored 95% on GRE in Biology..that means I did better than 95% of all Biology majors in the country. I found my masters program a review. The small class sizes allowed our profs to really do a great job.

Thanks for the vid. As alum leaving with B. S. in Biological Sciences, I can attest to the strength of great biology department since I worked with graduates of many well-thought private colleges and universities who were so less prepared for lab and research work than I was when I graduated. DO UNDERGRAD RESEARCH!

Slippery Rock sounds a lot like my college, we are definitely smaller, we only had 2,500 when I graduated, and one thing to remember is I was a townie as Trine is in my hometown, so when you take into account that you have the college bars and your a townie, I had a lot of friends asking me to direct them to fun stuff. The professor thing is true to, they try and connect with you, I am friends with most of my professors still

Lucky you having a good experience there. I entered as a freshman in 2010 and withdrew for financial reasons in 2016. It was mostly just the department I was in. I didn't have priority scheduling like the varsity athletes did so I was always the last in my department to register. I wasn't able to get into any classes and a lot of the classes in my major at the time were only offered once every 2 years. After my freshman year our department head changed, they tried incorporating a new track in the major (which honestly was just the parks and recreation major with the physical education minors attached). MOST of my professors there were wonderful - shout out to the Adapted Physical Activity teachers. But I had a couple teachers that just made me hate the program I was in, would blatantly play favorites (I got in trouble for not showing up to a meeting because I got in an accident, showing up the first day out of uniform when there were people that showed up every day out of uniform, and just a lot of stuff like that). We those teachers only ever taught the higher level classes and were the only ones teaching them. By that point I already had close to 300 credits and my GPA was low due to medical issues I was having at the time, so it's completely understandable that I couldn't get into my new major, but at the same time it was impossible to pull my GPA up from there. My advice from my experience to anyone going to Slippery Rock: if you have a bad feeling about a program you're in, leave. I was scared to leave the department until last minute. That being said, I had AWESOME experiences with the clubs I was in. I was involved with the Paranormal Club my first 3 years, I helped to get the women's club soccer team up and running, and I got the chance to go to Oregon twice to compete in the collegiate goalball national tournament. I went to Ireland for spring break on St Patrick's day with the coaching minor as well and actually found my new major through that trip.

I'm really excited to start! I'm almost done with the application but unfortunately as an international student, it's a lot harder for me to get the documents, and I have a really hard time finding SRU's contact email.

I'm going for their exercise science pre-pt program!! I live in York County, PA, so I live about 6 hours away. I'm newer to your videos, so forgive me if you've already mentioned it, but can you talk about housing? I chose the suites so I could live in the health LLC, but I'm curious to see if the extra 3,500 choice was a good one. Love this inside look into a smaller campus, so awesome, thank you!!
@CourtneyQuist7 жыл бұрын
SammiJinx I'm so excited that you are coming to Slip! My next video is going to be all about the traditional halls! It should be up sometime this week!! ☺️☺️❤️️ The suites are beautiful but I lived in North Hall for 2 years, so I'm going to be talking all about my experiences in it! Especially for your major, the LLC will be super beneficial! Because you will be living with the students that you are in your classes! If you ever have any questions about a HW assignment, you can literally just walk down the hallway and ask your classmates.

Great review. The Rock is a 1000 times better now than when stepped on campus in 1985. Being from Texas it was a serious change in reality but I am still faithful to the Rock. So my son is interested in SRU. Would you consider it a college town or a town with a college?
@CourtneyQuist6 жыл бұрын
Hmmmm... not 100% sure how to answer that. The town and the college feel very separate when you attend. The town in itself is very very small. So small that some business close in the summer.
@robdesign646 жыл бұрын
Okay, that kind of answers my question. My daughter attends Juniata and they have a similar situation. What do students do their for a social life?
@CourtneyQuist6 жыл бұрын
On campus: There are clubs, organizations, a movie theater, planetarium, and restaurant. In town: There are restaurants, yogurt shops, bowling. The college is 15 minutes to the Grove City Outlet mall. And it is only 20 minute away from Butler, where there is like everything! :)
@robdesign646 жыл бұрын
Courtney Raine Thanks so much for all that info. My son will be doing a baseball prospect camp there later this year or early next year. We will get a chance to see if for ourselves. Sounds good.

I am only a sophomore in high school. Yea I know I am young and everything but I am also in a program at a local community college where I live called Trio Upward Bound and they help us find colleges and what not to help us with our future. I looked on slippery rocks website and the money to go for one year is $29600 which includes the fees, tuition, rooms, and meals without the GPA of 3.0. My freshman GPA was 2.5 so that is why I did it without the 3.0 GPA because just in case. But I want to be a pharmaceutical scientist. But I want to stay in the field of chemistry. I know I am putting a lot in here but I just wanted to know I live in Ohio and SRU is in PA so yea. Really I just want to know is that price range right. Like how much did you pay?

Senior here. SRU has def been a life-changing experience for me. All the cons you went over are actually almost like the only things people ever mention when they complain about the place lol. All in all, college is what you make it. Remember that you are here to get an education, not party 24/7 lol! I mean, have fun when you can and def make life-long friends that you'll always cherish and have good times with. But remember to focus on your academics first. You'll thank yourself later 😉.
