Taylor, I was so happy to see that the Barn Cleaner and the Kubota are back in service, hopefully you will have a long stretch of good weather so that you can spread the manure to make the fields grow tall and Lucious for the Moo Moos for the upcoming year, NOW I am not trying to spend Brett’s money, but between you and him, always keep your eyes out and ears to the ground on a possible affordable machine with a bucket attachment to use as a backup, I was so sad to hear about the loss of one of the Moo Moos, Prayers to you and Brett😢

Thanks for another great video, I totally understand what you are saying about loading with the skid loader, we have tried it in the past when we had too and often part of the load would tip off the back and into the skid loader!!!!!!

On many skid steers, you have to prevent the load from coming off the back of the bucket by tipping the bucket forward while you tilt the lift arms up. Been there, done that.

So in my farming experience I have not seen post pounding. But I have never seen a post lift like that. I am in a northern tier state. It works. It takes guts to expose a loss like that. You did it to educate and I respect that. Farming is hard. You continue to be a blessing to the farming community. We are so misunderstood.

I hop on it and go for a ride! years ago we had a horse roll into a gully and couldn't roll over, I hadn't seen it for a few days so the wife & I went looking for it, and found it dead with it's feet up. Hello Taylor & Brent. I am so sorry to hear about your loss. Those things happen with any type of livestock and is the sad aspect of farming as you alluded to. I just wanted to mention another KZbin channel that you may like that also have dairy cattle and lots of other farming content would be @TrinityDairy that is very well represented with the large IH tractors. The last video even ended with the kids on the farm which looked like a FFA meeting being schooled in birthing calves. Unfortunately when I was in high school, FFA wasn’t offered any only one school in Lexington KY had a FFA chapter. We had some rather large dairy farms in Central Kentucky and the government basically paid several of them to cease production which seems like the late 1970s to early 1980s. Before that happened, we used to have independent brands of dairy products and Kraft Foods used to have a facility in Lawrenceburg,Ky and there was a cheese plant called Cudahay Foods that had some of the best cheese that was out there. So Sad about the heifer. Always seems to be the good ones that can't stay out of trouble. Glad you explained about the skidsteer. It does seem to be a smaller one. How high you have to raise it, the further away from the spreader you have to be. The fence post "hammer time" was interesting. It was surprising how far down the post would go on the first hit! Sometimes the post might sink 6 inches. I guess we know why you do now!! Cool video Tay!!

Hi Taylor, I Just recently found your channel and have been watching your videos past and present. My wife and I are in middle Tennessee. We had many dairy farms around here when we were growing up. Most are gone now but we enjoy watching your videos and seeing the work you do. My brother and I actually milked a small herd while we lived on our Great Aunt's place during our high school days. We milked mixed breeds with a few Holsteins we purchased as bred heifers. She had been raising beef cows and changed after we moved there. Said she always wanted to have milk cows. We started selling the beef cows and buying milk cows. Some Jerseys mostly mixed breeds. We sold our milk to the local cheese plant. I don’t think we ever had over 12 to 15 cows.

That's hard to lose animals. I remember at times we lost calves and a cow within a couple weeks and other animals at times due to disase. It can be quite a loss for a familly farmer trying to feed the family and stay in business. Does look like a few slats, like Brett said, on the trailer ramp would work good for loading and unloadeing the heifers. It would make the animals more stable and secure going up and down. You could see their hesitation which is usually the case when moving cattle or other animals to new places. I remember having a large sprocket and roller chain drive that looked similar to your barn cleaner set up on our combine reel drive. We would really have to keep a close look at the sprocket teeth and chain links to see if they were worn more than we realized. They didn't have the heavy load that the gutter cleaner has, but a worn chain or sprocket could really cause it to work hard. A tractor down is always difficult when it's suposed to be at work. Good you got er going!

A loss of life is always tough when farming. Those H bunks aren’t ideal for cattle. I loose one a year to them. This year i lost 1 and save 2 being that i found them in time. Best thing is to get rid of them. Glad to see the new chain working! Been there last fall just over 11k to replace in a 50 cow barn. Took a lot of stress off though. As for the tractor glad it’s running. We’ve learned to keep a spare of everything on farm. It’s come in handy often.

Enjoying your videos on dairy farming. I have always cringed at the thought of the responsibilities that come with dairy cows. Never a day off. I am wondering what you do during the day to take a breather. On the ranch where I work we have a huge oak tree we sit under to rest and cool off.

@@tayfarms Old equipment has personality. Most people can't even start old eq. they've never seen. Usually there is a procedure. My tractor is to give very little throttle, bump starter x3, it always start on 3rd bump. Enjoy your videos down here in NC. 😎

When they were put in new you got a oil tank with a tap and spout for used motor oil so it would run on the return side of the chain but I made one for myen with a 4 liter oil jug take the cap dril a quarter inch hole in the center and put on it side and cut a hole on the other side and put used oil in and let run when you are done just set spout side up on a paddle till next time

Ah farming. The joys and heartbreaks. Glad the Kubota is up and running. Also glad your barn cleaner is working flawlessly. And I am glad you enjoy farming. It can be very rewarding. I agree that running a tractor in the field is very rewarding. lI used to be so at ease on a tractor in the fields. Shame about your heifer, but like you said, that's farming. Sorry about the heifer, bad way to go and not at all pleasant to deal with. When that kind of thing happens it always bothers you, the day it doesn't is when you should probably think about doing something else. Glad to hear the gutter cleaner and the Kubota are both working great again. I get nervous when things are all working, just waiting for the other shoe to drop. In my case it is often a big muck filled boot. Keep up the good work, always enjoy checking in with you guys.

You guys are going to have your own heifers good job .im in michigan banks told everyone here to sell their hefiers because it cost 2400.00 to raise a heifer they bred sll there cows to black calves noe are paying 3000.00 dollars for replacements some farmers cant find them and banks arent giving certain farms money to buy replacements there making them sell out i just sold 2 extras got 3000.00 a peice needed it for planting .brents a good guy so are you keep doing what your doing .

Hey Taylor, sure to bad about your heifer. You have some nice looking replacement's. Have you guys ever just tried tapping your posts in with a loader like your skid steer. We put a plate under our one Kubota loader and put posts in all the time, we point the posts with chain saw and after a rain cap tap em in. Give it a shot!!!!! Be safe. S. Ia.
