If you’re looking to try other Shigeru Mizuki works I’d highly recommend Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths. It’s another semi-autobiographical manga portraying his experience during WWII. It has similar themes and messages to Showa: A History of Japan, but it’s a bit easier to digest since it’s a one-shot.
