Jeez, I remember going to the theater when the movie was released. I’m an old head (70yrs) and prior to seeing this classic the standard was of the John Wayne ilk. I was blown away. Clint with the cigar, poncho, beard, and shoot first approach was unique from all that preceded him. Even the sound of the gunshots were different. The ending with the 3 having the final showdown with the music, the graveyard, the stone circle was simply incredible and was the best that’s ever been done. GOAT western, hands down...there’s not even a close second.

fadetounforgiven is it difficult to get there?? im planing my trip for this year cheers any help!
@fadetounforgiven9 жыл бұрын
cristian cornejo are you from Spain or from abroad? The exact location of the place is 41.99047,-3.408564 (put that in Google maps and that's it). It's just a bit over 210 kms / 130 miles from Madrid. As long as you have your own means of transport, you should be fine since it's away from any place you could easily get by public transport. The closest well known place is Santo Domingo de Silos, just 5 kms / 3 miles south of the cemetery, but those last few kilometers are off-road. I mean, it's in very good condition for any car (no need for a 4WD since I did it in my Peugeot 307 with no problem at all), at least as long as it is dry. The first 3,5 you'll go upwards, about 250 meters or so in total, and the last 1,5 you'll go down just about as much. So, if you go walking, it might take anything between half an hour to an hour. There's this video I've just seen related to this one titled "Flight Over Sad Hill" which you might find useful. The only problem you may encounter is that the whole area, and I mean the whole area, all that you can see in the movie around Sad hill, is a place for "wild" cows to pasture, and some of them might not be that... human friendly. I had no problem with them except one of them stayed in the way in quite an agressive manner (there was this so called here "Canadian pass" which cows can't cross separating it from me, so no problem), so I had to get there by taking a detour, just almost 40 kms around, since there's another, at least two or three ways, to come from the North. But since this is a youtube comment and it's getting quite large already, send me a private message and I'll tell you whatever you may need to know. Also, there's "Langston" river and the inside of the hospital quite close to the place, as well as the prison. So if you want to know more about it, message me.
@stoolboom61589 жыл бұрын
fadetounforgiven Great info fadetounforgiven. Let me add a couple of things. If you're approaching from Santo Domingo de Silos, make sure you have a detailed map of the streets (a print out from Google Maps satellite image would do) - it can be a little difficult to find the right road that leads to Sad Hill. The other main approach is from Contreras to the north. We were coming from Burgos and just used Google Maps directions to get there. The road from there leads straight to Sad Hill. You have to stop once to open a gate. Funny you mention the cows - we arrived in the afternoon, and there were cows in the area. A bull made sure we didn't get too close. We went back the next morning and it was clear. I also visited Langston Bridge, but didn't have time for the Batterville prison. If you want a truly epic day there, check out this hike you can do desdelasierradelademanda.blogspot.com/2012/01/118-penas-de-carazo.html My son and I did it, starting at the chapel near Carazo. My wife then met us at Sad Hill with the car. Takes several hours, but it is absolutely stunning.
@fadetounforgiven9 жыл бұрын
Stool Boom Nice hike in that link. I wish I can do it one of these... years. I saw what might have been vultures but too far away for me to know what they really were. I don't think it's that hard to find the (let's call it that way) road to Sad Hill. It's the only not paved road that leaves Santo Domingo de Silos from the North without crossing the road, but going over a tunnel. Any other road needs to cross the road at its level, the one to Sad Hill doesn't. Really, maybe it's because I prepared my visit for months (which helped me avoid the cows though I didn't know about them until I was there), but I think it's quite, quite easy to find. That road takes to Contreras, North of Sad Hill, so you can get from there as well (which was what I finally did after coming as close as less than a mile, that is, top of the mountain, and had to turn around because of the cows. I didn't have another day for that). And as you say, you only have to open (and close) a gate (let's say... some kind of gate... you know what I mean) so the aforementioned cows don't get away from the place. I think I will have to go back there whenever it's possible, and spending at least two or three days in the area. There's also the monastery of San Pedro de Arlanza, in which they also filmed the interior of the hospital in which Blondie recovers from his burns. The north approach is a bit more complicated to improvise, but not that hard (coming from the monastery) although a bit long, over 10-15 kms.

He's immortal, he was committing crimes in San Fransisco sometime in the late 70s to mid 80s although was busted by 'Dirty' Harry Callahan yet by the early 2000s was working as a booker for female boxing tournaments.

this actually makes me really sad, i do think that it should be restored and to be remembered as a movie that made a big impact on a lot of things (also anyone else watching this in 2019) 😂

Wow! What a great job!! I sometimes have wondered where that scene was filmed. Gotta bike there when I get back to Spain.

Sono meravigliato dalla bellezza di questi servizi filmati. Molto difficili da eseguire, ma realizzati con molta maestria e perfezione. Bravi !!!

Pretty doggone slick. I can't believe how small the budget was for this movie given the props and locations of filming.

Fantastic job- I lived in Spain for 18 years and have visited the film studio in Almeria twice, but I always regretted not going north to find this place. Well done.
