thanks for watching. one thing i failed to spot wile i was recording is at 1:20 you'll notice the vertical support strut is off by a half inch at least. Rewinding a little bit and comparing it to the other struts, it doesn't look good to say the least. I'm not iron worker or welder but i think thats just 1 of many potential "fatal injuries" she has sustained over the years. She is almost 40 after all. She showing her wrinkles 😆

Really good looking coaster! It’s such a shame to see it in disrepair.

To the Mindbender! From December 20th 1985 till officially announced closed forever on January 30th 2023. Designed by Werner Stengel and Built by Anton Schwarzkopf Mindbender is a smaller near-mirror image of Drier Looping. Witch was pretty much the exact same except without the additional helix at the end that Mindbender has and a few other minor details. I'd like to take a moment to mention the victims of the June 14th 1986 accident. Where the rear wheel assembly bolts were said to not be torqued properly and ended up separating from the car. This damaged the locking mechanism for the lap bar as it continued violently down the track toward the 3rd loop sending three riders to there deaths and one to the hospital with serious injury. The names of the victims were David Sager 24, Tony Mandrusiak 24, and his fiancee Cindy Sims 21 that sadly passed away wile Rodney Chaykos life was changed forever. I feel it would be more than a little bit inappropriate to say goodbye like this to the Mindbender without paying such respects to the REAL LIVES that were changed because of it. I am truly sorry for those who were lost and to Rodney Chayko and to the families who's lives that have no doubt never been the same since. Now, shout outs to all the good people of youtube who have posted footage of the ride over the years. Some video's I've found are 10 years old or more wile others are as recent as the last few months of operation. In any case I'd like to thank you all for posting your footage as it is all historical record now and your own little piece of Mindbender history! Best Edmonton Mall Matthew Dutczak should be mentioned just because! 🤣 Canobie Coaster top 50 in-door coasters ranks Mindbender as number 1 and coming from somebody who has ridden so many coaster THAT MEANS ALLOT! So THANK YOU! CoasterForce channel Coaster Studios channel Steve Makris has a 360 view with g force stats at the end of the ride! Theme Park Review has over 1M views on his vid of the ride! INTECH NDE has a super short drone inspection vid! Edmonton SUN and Edmonton Journal have EDM Fire Rescue training on the Mindbender videos! striderprime1 has the most heart warming ride reaction you'll ever see! Michelle (simply) has a wonderfully hilarious in the best way possible ride video with a senior citizen! Sadly they were not with him and so i have no idea how old Sir was! ROFL! And many, many more! There could be 1000 of these little videos dotted all over youtube and nobody thinking to much about when they posted. Yet all of it was to become historical footage and there fore every little clip. Every corny "omg Why did i even post that?!" video. Every Galaxy land video of another ride completely BUT YOU HEAR IT IN THE BACKGORUND! That Iconic ROAR of the Mindbender that could be heard throughout the park! PLUS a GOOD way out the entrances! On a quiet night wile Rock'N'Ride was going on, you could hear her FURTHER AWAY STILL! Along with muffled music of course! I am grateful for your contributions to the history of the Mindbender and you all deserve 10,000,000 views per video in my opinion! 😃🥲 Thank everybody on youtube for all the love I've seen people give in the comment sections. I'm so glad you all had the opportunity to come have a ride and I'm so happy you all enjoyed it! I will be finding these videos for years now after and i swear none of them will ever get old! 😃 It ranks high in allot of coaster reviews lists witch means allot coming from those who have ridden and made channels about riding so many others! Again it even ranks first on Canobie Coaster's top 50 in-door coasters list witch is HUGE from someone who has ridden so many coasters! Over 1000!!! So Yyyyea! Thanks man, like ALLOT! One common thing I've noticed through all these comments is a general consensus that THE FIRST DROP is the best part of the ride and I couldn't agree more! There is nothing like getting to the top of that lift hill and realising OMG here it goes again! For those who've already ridden and OMG HERE WE GO! For those who were first time riders! Coaster Studios first reaction to Mindbender is priceless! It brings back so many memories of how I used to look at it too so long ago 🥲 Me and my bro's road that thing over 100 times! She never got old... and even after so many... oh, how i wish, i could have had one last ride 🥲 Some physics facts about the ride. It's been said to go anywhere between 92 and 97kph at its fastest points. 145ft tall with 127ft 1st drop, 4198ft long and held the world record for a few in-door coaster categories for years. (google for ref.) 1st drop will exert 4.1ish G's Loops 1 and 2 at 4.4ish G's 3rd drop around 4 G's 3rd Loop 5.5ish G's Helix 3.8ish G's and the air-time bump -0.03ish G's I say "ish" for good reason as because the loadout of the ride will directly effect these numbers. If its an empty train with less weight the numbers are going to subsequently co-respond and vise-versa. So wile I dont mean to hurt any bodies feelings who believe the second loop is the strongest G point on the ride. I dont blame you. It's easy to understand why a misconception as simply because the 2 loops are back to back like that. That means 4 points of high G force in rapid succession at each of the entering and exiting bends of the loops. Needless to say that's super intense! No wonder that's where most people tent to "grey out"... But as you examine the old beast you will quickly see the 3rd loop could fit inside ether of the first 2 no problem. This means Newton Laws Of Motion place the 3rd loops entering and exiting bends as the highest points of G force exertion on the entire ride. Then there is the slingshot effect out of the 3rd loop as the track flattens out completely aside from a slightly raised right hand rail and super easy left bend in banking prep for the next transition left-upward. That flat section results in a transferring of all the G force into forward momentum and means you actually exit the loop faster then you went in! Same for Physics for the first 2 loops but the first loop simply slingshots you into the second and then the second shoots you immediately left-upwards. This results in the slingshot effect being far less noticeable. I totally agree with Matthew Dutczaks description of the Mindbender in his interview with CBC as he says "it would take you and shake you around and didn't apologize and you'd get back in line to do it again". YES!!!!! YEEEESSSSSSSS! Yes Sir that's so correct and I would even add to his description is not only would it not apologize but it would even kind of insult some people as if to say "Haha, yea i just did that! LOL" 🤣 ROFL Daily Theme Park News's channel has a backwards-Backwards ride video of the Mindbender... It makes that first-I-MEAN-last drop not so scary anymore!!! 🤣 if the Mindbender was indeed ever going to apologize for what she had just done to you. His video shows how she would do it i think LOL A little off topic but not as Mindbenders house is Galaxy Land... I firmly believe that working at amusement parks should be held in higher regard! You are not just a staff member or ride attendant but you are the reason and direct cause of so many people happiness or possible disappointment! People need to respect these employees and show more gratitude for good service as well. it is a 2 way street. But as somebody who worked at an amusement park *COUGH-COUGH-WHITEMUD-COUGH-COUGH... I know what it's like exactly! Weather the ride or attraction would be there or not doesn't matter if there is nobody to operate it! I think ride attendants and park staff the world over need to remember these types of things as they work because it should make you feel good about the job you do to know you help make people happy 😁😇 Literally no matter the job in any amusement park anywhere in the world! Big or small, rides or just mini golf. You're all important to the moral of society 😃😁😇 In closing, finally i'd like to thank you Mindbender! and your designer Werner Stengel and builder Anton Schwartzkopf posthumously. They are indeed legends of coaster history already and this was one hell of a ride. West Edmonton Mall and Triple Five corp. Thank you for paying for it at a (heheh) Steel of a deal considering inflation today LOL and letting them build it here! and THEN building a nice house around it to live in! I'm sure she's been very cozy all this time! 🤪 Goodbye Old BEASTLY Lady! 😂😭😭😭 ... You will be missed by many and envied by many more the world over!

What are those metal silver looking burns on the loop supports?
@GoogsMindbent
@GoogsMindbent Жыл бұрын
it looks to me as though sections were cut out and plates welded in and ground smooth. Mean wile other spots look like they may have been just grinded down to bare metal then welded. The thumbnail photo is probably the first option as it looks like a square was cut out and a plate inserted then welded in place. AND THEN it looks like THAT even split and was weld repaired! but no way to be sure without knowing the guys that did the work. The reason why these spots needed repairs in the first place is obvious though. That is because of metal fatigue from almost 40 years of operation and over 1,000,000 cycles.😆 those are the spot of most stress force exertion on the loops supporting structures so over time it was bound to happen... Simple laws of physics explain this lol

No wonder they are retiring it. The maintenance looks like a nightmare. Only so so much fixing and strengthening and cycles metal can take before it doesn’t make sense to continue to fix, or becomes unsafe. Looks like age and fatigue is the most likely reason they retired it. But that is some serious maintenance they did over the years, they definitely didn’t play around. I’ve always felt safe riding the rides at wem, even more so now. They better replace it with a modern coaster! Infinity coaster or a rmc with be sweet. Very cool!

i agree completely, i've always felt safe on every ride too! I'm convinced they have Laser Beams that focus on things they need to do each day! 🤣 She's going to be a tough one to De-Throne from Galaxy Land, no doubt. Guess we'll see what we get in due time. Thank you for your comment!😃
