who's going to 'admit' to being HI godfather? Would you? Yes, he was .. Leota, Pulawa, then Mehau. That's how it was back then. Ariyoshi was at every important event Mehau had on the north shore. He was beholding to Mehau...well, he got Ariyoshi elected, didn't he? Alvin Kaohu, lieutenant to Pulawa, was my best man when I got married.

Oh wow, my dad worked HPD in the 70s. One of the guys who started the exodus to PNW. He worked SWAT, narcotics, plain clothes, task group and K9. We used to bred German Shepherds for HPD

My dad worked HPD and was a lot like Larry. Top IHL football player from St Louis, played Fullback and Noseguard. Rookie year with HPD was 1970. He worked SWAT, Narcotics, UC, K9 (we bred German Shepherds for HPD) and worked plain clothes just like what Don mentioned. We moved to Washington in 1980 and dad started Makai Ohana. +500 cops have left Hawaii since

Was 21 years old opening the Don The Beachcomber Restaurant in Waikiki.....witnessed many...will get this book...interesting time in Honouu... 38 years ago....

There was a time when folks were literally afraid to mention the name Larry Mehau. I was visiting a friend on the Big Island and his name came up. He paused and said, "If someone steals things from your house, you can go to Larry Mehau and the next day your things will be returned. But then..." He stopped talking and just shook his head.

My Dad Kalani was close friends with Uncle Larry. We went to his home and ride horses with his son when I was 8.
