@Fuert Neigt It's not a show, it's some friends getting together for fun and to fundraise. It was scripted in that they obviously talked previously about what they were going to say and do and some of them had notes and props, but you missed that. In third grade, when we wrote formal letters in school, I wrote to Steven Spielberg pitching Goonies II (with more girls, including me). I got a phone call from Steven Speilberg thanking me for the letter and explaining that he was working on other projects! It was so nice of him. I spent tons of time listening to Cyndi's song on my walkman while playing on our tree swing pretending to be a Goonie. Thanks for bringing the cast together and may this complete gem of a film never be remade/updated!

Perhaps the most underrated and most rarely-mentioned piece of movie music in history is Dave Grusin's credits theme. Find it wherever you can and listen to it, and you'll feel EXACTLY the same emotions you felt the first time you heard it-- The savoring of the still-fresh excitement and happiness as you watched the credits crawl, trying to just stay in that moment as long as you could, as long as the film was technically still rolling. The sweet heartache as you heard the song come to a sparkling, beautiful close as the Amblin logo appeared on the screen, letting you down gently, at which point you had to accept that it was over and there was no more of it. Time to go home, back to your life, but things were different now. _You were different now._

@Pellbort Well said, fellow Goonie. Grusin's sensational film score is an integral part of what makes this movie so magical and unforgettable. It's truly perfect-right up there with John Williams' work. The end credits theme, in particular, is so wistful and acutely evocative of the wonder, adventure, and innocence not only of The Goonies story but also the incomparable era in which it was produced that it takes my breath away each time I hear it. Accordingly, The Goonies is one of the few films whose end credits I willingly watch all the way through-every single time. That phenomenal score coupled with the imagery of Willie's pirate ship sailing away into the sunset evokes instant time-machine vibes, as you eloquently noted. The sights and sounds transport the viewer right back to the wonderful '80s, 100% of the time, without fail. I commented in an earlier post that Dave Grusin needs to join the rest of the cast and crew for an all-new video commentary. They could do this in celebration of the 35th anniversary (absolutely unbelievable how fast those years have gone by); and this time, they need to make sure Sean Astin stays put for the entire duration of the movie. Ha ha!
