The Gospel: Kings

The book of Kings tells a story of the failed Israelite experiment. The question was always whether they could remain faithful to God, and would a king help or hurt their pursuit of faithfulness. We don’t have to make it more than 11 chapters into the book to see quite definitively that having a king like all the other nations isn’t going to go well for Israel. The people of God need a different kind of king.
