A Voice In The Desert

A Voice In The Desert

Күн бұрын

The gospel of Mark is the shortest of the four gospels, but it is nonetheless an excellent recounting of the life and teachings of Jesus, which is remarkably consistent with what Matthew and Luke wrote in their gospel accounts. This is the tenth chapter of a fully illustrated/partially animated interpretation of the gospel according to Mark.
In this chapter, Jesus sets the Pharisees straight on marriage and divorce. A young man comes to Jesus asking what he needs to do to have eternal life, but Jesus' answer is not what he expected. The disciples are astonished by Jesus' response, thinking nobody can be saved... until the penny drops. One night, Jesus tries to explain again what will happen to him in the future, but the disciples still don't get it, and are thinking only of themselves. And finally, on the way out of Jericho, Jesus is about to change the life of one blind beggar!

What is "A Voice in the Desert"?
The purpose of A Voice in the Desert is to point people to the message, rather than the messenger. Most modern day prophets promote themselves more than the teachings of Jesus and the true message of Revelation. A Voice in the Desert challenges that error and more. Some of the things you hear on this channel may be difficult to understand, and may offend you. The goal, however, is to sweep away dogmas and traditions to reveal what Jesus actually taught.

@@avoiceinthedesert how can I do this, if your parents won't want you to do what your doing, I'm a teenager and still live in my home. I have no job and my parents want me to go to college how?

@@zennikomoore7530 I'd recommend waiting until you are an adult (i.e. over 18 or whatever the age of maturity is in your country) before trying to obey everything that Jesus taught. In the meantime, you can be a good witness by honoring your parents and being helpful and loving towards people. There may be other ways you can practice and share Jesus' teachings with those around you. But, you will most likely not be able to start "living by faith" until you are an adult.

Is it true that Jesus used the destitute as the cornerstone of his church?

Luke here. I'm not exactly sure what you mean by "destitute", but Jesus DID say that his Kingdom was for the "poor" in Luke 6. But, if I had to use your metaphor, I'd say that the "cornerstone" of Jesus' church would be Jesus himself (and his teachings). Individual followers would make up the "building blocks". bit.ly/Cornerstone11

@@avoiceinthedesertthanks Ok With Christ as its cornerstone, God specifically selected the impoverished to form his church.

Luke here. If you're a teenager (i.e. under 18), I'd say that you are still subject to your parent's authority. I'd recommend being kind, helpful, loving and supportive towards them as much as you can. You can be a good witness, just by being helpful and loving. Once you turn 18 (or whatever the age of maturity is in your country), then you will be more free to live your life as you choose. At that point, you'll be able to make a mature decision to obey all that Jesus taught.

Why do you feel it is ok for you to substitute Yahweh for God when the Greek text underlying the English scripture is Theo's not Yahweh? Why not use Jesus but choose to use the transliteration Yeshua? Jesus referred to Father or God not Yahweh.

Luke here. I think you might be focusing too much on trivial details. It really does not matter what people call God or Jesus... Have you ever heard the phrase, "A rose by any other name is just as sweet"? That said, I agree with you that calling God "Father" is an excellent choice because avoids a lot of unnecessary disagreement. A Muslim, a Christian, and a Jew could all agree on calling God the "Father". Here's a video we made about this idea: bit.ly/3P5OstC

Luke here. Yes, most people in the Abrahamic religions believe that God created humans, males and females - based upon claims made in Genesis and elsewhere. Were you not aware of that before now?
