Jesus, the Logos, rebuked their fear by asking where is your faith? They were afraid of dying. Jesus, the Logos, knew there was nothing to fear from dying. Their fear appears to be linked to an impoverished faith. The teaching of Jesus is meant to banish the fear of death. The disciples lacked that faith. They were afraid of dying. That seems to be one of the lessons taught here.
