Gavri Yah-akhirivva | Syriac is a dialect of Aramaic, so it doesn't really matter. Even if it was pure Aramaic, it wouldn't be the same as the variety Jesus spoke as there is no way the language didn't change at all for more than 2000 years.

Jesus spoke Mishnaic Hebrew and a dialect of Jewish Palestinian Aramaic, as well as probably Koiné Greek. All three languages were still being spoken in daily use by Jews at all levels of society in the land of Israel in the first century.

@@servo4970 Ysho - from the Assyrian-Aramaic or Ashuri or Ashurit... www.thearamaicscriptures.com/ The Aramaic Text used to translate (t)here at TheAramaicScriptures.com, is from Eastern Aramaic Manuscripts, such as The Khabouris Manuscript, pictured , it being a hand-written Eastern Aramaic New Testament, said to have been scribed in the ancient city of Nineveh, and which is thought to have taken place sometime between 900 to 1000 A.D. And said to have been officially certified by a Bishop of The Holy Apostolic Catholic Church of the East as being a faithful copy of a much older Eastern Aramaic New Testament Manuscript, likely scribed during the mid 5th century, which in turn likely was itself a faithful copy of The Original Aramaic New Testament Scriptures, which was personally handed to The Church of the East by The Apostles themselves, in the ancient City of Edessa, in the 1st century. The Khabouris Codex Manuscript you can read and study (t)here, via the study tool, is thus, most likely only a 3rd generational copy of The Word of Alaha (God) in the Aramaic language, which was given to The Church of the East from the very Apostles of Meshikha (The Messiah) in the language in which Eshu (Yeshua) and His Disciples spoke, wrote, and proclaimed The Hopeful Message of God's Redemption of Mankind. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opjTY5-ElMyAaac

@@simakkharasha9688 Syriac is a dialect of Aramaic which was spoken not just in Syria but over the whole middle east where there were Jewish and Christian presence, including Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Oman, Qatar, UAE, Iraq, Iran, even extending to India. This is attested from the writings of Josephus, a 1st-century Jewish historian. Moreover, there is archeological evidence of Nestorian churches, who spoke Aramaic, in Saudi Arabia. Gabriel Qataraya was a Nestorian bishop who spoke Aramaic, born and lived in Qatar. The Arabic language that we see today has been regarded by linguists to have been largely influenced by Aramaic. Wasn’t Matthew written originally in Greek?
@1920sman2 жыл бұрын
It is debated. Our earliest known Greek copies have hundreds of years of historical scholarship to verify an approximate date for when they were written. Considerable, but much less attention has been given to Aramaic texts by Western scholars. A small minority believe the whole New Testament was written in Aramaic. Many others consider parts from now lost Aramaic writings were used as either direct sources, or as a general basis for parts of the Greek. Others believe all Aramaic versions surviving are nothing other than translations from original Greek documents. I find it interesting to discover there are other, or extra meanings and nuances in the text which can be found only in the Aramaic. I wish we had better, more scholarly sound English translations of the Aramaic that survives.

I think I've just been really silly. God sent his Son. His message is for all to hear. I'm sure I've heard and understood. So why am I here thinking that listening in Aramaic, (I didn't even know how to spell Aramaic!) will change anything? I'm frightened I've missed something I guess. His Word to me is love and respect all. I don't want to dwell on what I shouldn't do but rather on what I should. I want to be responsible for my actions in the Name of my creator. His Son told us what we should do. I'm lost, like a child in the dark. With half truths, a dodgy map and a box of matches. Every time I see the way and the light I get burned. Burned with knowledge that His Word has been corrupted by just about every single reason we could imagine and then some. I think it won't really matter which language I hear His Word, I'm hoping, having faith that as long as i love with honour and respect all who help me and cross me, that I will have understood His Word to the the best of my abilities and try to live in the light that I have. Those of you that have English and Aramaic can you please me if His Word is fundamentally love, compassion and forgiveness. The Book of Mathew, Sermon on the mount is all I truly believe and trust. Please take my hand brothers and sisters and show me the way. I want to walk in the dark without the matches and find my way to him in blind faith.

The linguistic milieu of Judea and Galilea during Jesus times was more complicated than that presented in the popular culture. It is well known in scholarly circles that Hebrew was still a spoken language in Judea, including Jerusalem, during Jesus times. Aramaic and Koine Greek were of course spoken as well. The UT itself says (Acts) that St Paul, upon his arrest, addressed the raging mob in HEBREW language. It was not Aramaic: Aramaic is not called Hebrew and vice versa. Moreover, this cliche of the Syriac of Peshitta as the "language of Jesus" is inaccurate. He, being a Jew, spoke Jewish Palestinian Aramaic.

Aramaic and Hebrew are not the original or holy Adam and Eve language it's all "mashups" from phoenician language like Paleo-Hebrew era . It's a real mess language in originality. The Aramaic become the language of the common people and Hebrew the "Holy Language" of the priests. It's like in Rome nowadays the people speak Italian but the Vatican Latin cause it looks more "holy" to them ;)

I guess this way He could be addressed for 'real' needs and not just for temporary observable eye pleasing needs. "For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, no beauty that we should desire him." (I)sa(i)ah 53:2 Either way, too much emphasis away from what is really the more important... from both sides.. If not to have true fellowship, why would any seek Him to the level one might without having any real needs?

This is Aramaic. It is our mother language and we understand every single word. There are aramean bibles which are hundreds or thousand years old in our orthodox churches. During many genocides, that happened to the aramean Christians, many bibles got destroyed or even burned, just like some of our churches and monasteries.

This is not real (ancient) Aramaic, but Turoyo, a modern dialect. Would have been far better in Kthobonoyo...

please see and comment on aramaic information on: www.aramaicwords.nl/pdf/why.pdf especially on sheet 2, where a complete list is with the meaning of each character, and also its number. these numbers appear everywhere in the bible, but amazingly enough also in greek and arabic and hebrew documents, where always the 20th chapter is chapter k, and the thirtiest is chapter l. See for yourself in even a modern greek dictionary charecters are related to numbers. As is also even more obvious with hebrew , aramaic and arabic..

I looked at this pdf. It is poorly written and full of inaccuracies.

I should be grateful if someone would transliterate this Aramaic Matthew 5:20 Verse in English?

Dude youre comparing night and day the quran is on a whole different plane of language purity complexity in linguistic detail and synchronicity

@My Secret Account yes and unlike its English counterpart the Aramaic bible is poetic but not to the linguistic extent the Quran is

@@Red-bw1vm I've read the whole Quran and it's no linguistic masterpiece. The whole book is jumbled out with some chapters even having no relations with each other. There are also instances where it doesn't mention who is speaking or who it is spoken to, which leads to blind assumptions. The credibility of the Quran is definitely there, but it's a poorly compiled book.

I love biblical languages: Aramaic, Hebrew, Greek. They are cool.
