Believers don't rest in peace The Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. The Lost world always says rest in peace. The dead don't rest they are conscious either in heaven or hell. No more resting. I learned that in Dr Ruckman's book where do the dead go 👀 So I was lost I wouldn't go to sleep unless I knew for sure where I was going to go when I died. Can you imagine going to sleep having a bad nightmare and then you die and wake up in hell? Pretty crazy thought but that's how I used to think what if I die in my sleep I didn't know where I would be

Ruckman was a very intelligent man. Hearing his story of coming out of an atheistic home and secular lifestyle, I can see how his teaching is attractive. However, his careful attention to the commands for salvation seems to be lacking. Nowhere in the New Testament is one commanded to believe ONLY to receive salvation. One points to the thief on the cross, however, this thief lived under the old law, therefore, the law of Christ had not come into force (Hebrews 9:15-17). Throughout the book of Acts the commands for salvation never changed. I have heard Ruckman say that the method of salvation changed after the Jerusalem Counsel in Acts 15, however, there is no such change. Lydia, the Philippian jailer, those at Corinth, and Paul attest to this fact. After the cross and starting at Pentecost the method of salvation was for a penitent believing hearer to be baptized for the remission of sins. If belief alone were to save anyone we would have found that take place for Paul on the road to Damascus. He prayed three days and his sins still weren't forgiven.

@@Hggfcgghg Jesus made the promise while they were both alive. It is dangerous to generalize this example of salvation to all especially when we have scripture providing many more examples of salvation after the cross and when scripture says Jesus's death instituted a new covenant. Each example after the cross involved baptism as necessary in one's response in faith to recieve salvation. Even Paul's conversion where Jesus directly made contact. Acts 22:16 - remission of sins took place upon Paul's baptism. Not his acknowledgment of Jesus on the road to Damascus

@@MrPocketfullOfSteel Or maybe you're just swallowing all of his teachings without checking the scriptures. I listen to Ruckman a lot. I admire him in many of ways. His outspokenness against Catholicism and his critique of Calvinism. However, he is not correct when it comes to salvation. The NT pattern is simple. After the resurrection Jesus commanded baptism for the remission of sins (Mark 16;16; Matt. 28:19-20). The apostles continued to teach this throughout the book of Acts as the gospel spread (Acts 2, 8, 9, 10, 12, 16, 22). In the letters to the churches water baptism is connected to salvation (Romans 6:3-6; 1 Cor. 12:11-13; Gal 3:21; 1 Peter 3;21, etc.). That pattern is not broken. Take the entirety of scripture into account and you clearly see this. This is typologically supported through the flood, cleaning of the high priests, the separation of the Israelites through the Red Sea, etc. I am not attacking Ruckman, but I study for myself and do not take all of what someone says as truth just because they are respected. Do your own studying and it will make sense.
