I just hope you read this and know that you made my day and that your honest, direct, and no bullshit approach truly matters and it's people like you who stand up for what they believe in and have the heart to voice their opinion and spread the word that our government doesn't have our best interests in mind and that we need to stay vigilant NOW or we will lose fucking everything we hold dear. Your friend doesn't sound very bright. Then again, I was watching CNBC this morning and two of the hosts were aggressively cheering for government censorship online. The third host and the guest being interviewed were understandably horrified. IMHO the core problem is naive people assuming "disinformation" = obviously false statement of facts, when in practice it means anything that makes the government/ruling class look bad. The suppression of vaccine injury information has been a stunning success for the disinfo police. Yet even mentioning potential downsides will immediately get you accused of believing all sorts of things that have nothing to do with the facts of that situation. This used to be commonplace practice. It is only recently that people have become so caught up in their own opinions, they're absolutely unwilling to even entertain the idea that someone has a single good point while being on the opposing side of an issue. My theory is that the internet has made it way too easy for people to find echo chambers and fill them up with likeminded people. They're no longer forced to argue their own side of the issues, but instead just sat there going "I'm so glad I'm not the only reasonable person in this world." Well, that and this whole idea that children shouldn't experience anything bad in their upbringing at any point. If the kids never learn to deal with opposition, they will never learn to look past it and work together to achieve something.

@@ithuhalinqua1026 Ehh, there were plenty of echo chambers in pre social media real life back then. If you shared the majority held opinion, then you were in an echo chamber. Except instead of a dank little basement, it was town hall. Widescale civility only really existed through mob rule and repression of dissenting opinions. Discourse was only polite so long as it didn't offend the sensibilities or threaten the power of those who belonged to the ingroup. The internet merely leveled the playing field for all the people who would've just been told to fall in line with the majority. The tribalism and vitriol was always there. We can just see it a lot clearer now. In order to meaningfully listen to opposing opinions, a person must desire the truth, to be right even if it means their previously held opinions are proven wrong. That sentiment being "It doesn't matter if you're right, if you're an asshole about it." Once that started circulating, people started chopping off the "about it" part to change it to "it doesn't matter if you're right if you're an asshole," which in turn is interpreted as "It doesn't matter if you're right if I don't like you, because I don't want to give you the satisfaction of being right." They're the kind of people who could sit down with Hitler and Einstein to have a conversation about the laws of physics, listen to Hitler and Einstein agree, and deduce that both of them are wrong simply on the grounds that they hate Hitler and don't want to admit that anything that comes out of his mouth ever has even an ounce of validity (even if it has nothing to do with his problematic, racist worldviews).

Now imagine the left hand smackingthe right hand and the right hand smacking the left hand each time that you try to eat. Because one side don't agree with what you eating and then you switch it up and the other side don't agree with what you eating and they never agree so you die of starvation because the left and right of your brain is too stupid to work together. That is like America right now. Now that I spend more time online, I see repeated similar situations, including the banning of a sitting president. As upsetting as it may be to younger people, it is unimaginable to those of us who have lived for decades knowing that in America, even if I hate what you are saying, I will defend your right to say it. My appreciation to you for creating this video. Respect.

It doesn't matter how much power your title bestows upon you, private venues and websites have all rights to ban your ass on the spot for breaching their Terms of Service as if that title is meaningless (Because to them it is). For instance if I were to go to a store screaming obscenities at their staff and other customers they'd be well within their rights (As the store is their private property) to have me thrown out on my ass and ban me from coming back, just as Twitter or Reddit would be well within their rights as the owner of what is effectively virtual private property to ban me for antisemitism or other assorted hate speech.
@TimelessTransience2 жыл бұрын
@@RhelrahneTheIdiot I don't think your comparison between platforms on the internet and private venues has as much weight behind it as you think. I think the differences are more than enough to warrant different approaches. I don't buy that Twitter or Reddit (etc.) are, in effect, virtual private property. They are far too broad a space to compare to your example of a store. They are closer to an entire digital planet or country than they are the constrained space of a store, a key factor in their role as a "public square." I'd argue the store comparison better works with an individual's feed or subreddit. _Don't like the person spouting obscenities at you? Kick them out of the store by _*_blocking them,_*_ not banning them from the whole platform._ In this way you have the ability to filter people out, without taking away their right to free speech.

What if you need to use the service as part of your job? Or because it is the only way to get your word out? I'm sorry but this is a bullshit argument. @@lightbetweendarkness6571 You are right, my disagreement doesn't change much. @@ElLapiz24 Interestingly, I feel like that was Google's original appeal as a search engine, and the reason they put all the other search engines to shame was it's simplicity and the fact you weren't bombarded by ads and links. Social media seems to be going the same way, if someone could come out with a simpler, cleaner free speech experience again without placing everyone in algorithmically directed echo chambers it would be fantastic.

Nobody has more of a vested interest in spreading misinformation than our own government. As long as the population is stuck at left vs right it can never be us vs them.

Actually one of the best reasons to study history is there are only so many lies, intriques, dirty tricks etc. Nothing new under the sun. Better to know the future by way of the past because the same $hit just keeps happening over and over. If it ain't in the history books it's in the newspapers.

The truth is, it's always been like that. The class of people with the most resources using them to force everyone else to do what they want. The foundational problem that the constitution was trying to fix with its 3 co-equal branches of government was the consolidation of power because concentrated power anywhere inevitably becomes corrupt.

I remember scavenging libraries and the beginnings of the internet for this type of info and talking with people about random fucked up things going on in the world.. As important as the info was it was ever so exhausting to constantly being worked up and trying to spread the info. Eventually I was too tired and stopped putting effort into it all. I simultaneously respect what ur doing and empathize with your current situation. There’s definitely a burden that comes when dealing with such negativity all the time. I hope your taking the time to look out for ur mental health, it’s very important to decompress every once in awhile. Especially when ur digging so deep into things.. pressure builds and sometimes we don’t notice til it’s overwhelming us. All the best, dear shoe.

You can still get some of that by going to the dark web forums (use VPN and tor) only issue is that the unmoderated ones often turn into endless circle jerking of racist jokes and racial slurs (I wish I was exaggerating) because for whatever reason, there's a specific group of people who desperately crave to type out racial slurs and they all flok to these forums as some kind of catharsis. However, there are some good moderated forums that are done very well in the dark web, that allow freedom of expression and any topic, but will remove all the pointless hate slurs from the mix. So you can actually have civil conversations, anonymously, and the discussions can get very interesting.

@@AK-jm1sc have you ever considered why people feel like they need to say those things? There's definitely a group of people who genuinely dislike the modern American multi-racial model and you and everyone else have just told them their grievances need to be ignored because they are crazy. Instead of providing these people an opportunity to reflect or genuinely think about their beliefs you just confirm that they are correct in feeling persecuted and push them further and further into their beliefs.

If it makes you feel better, Junie, I was in high school when DHS was formed. I told my parents that it was a terrible idea; they said I was too young to understand. I supported OWS; they said I need to grow up and get some work ethic. Now, 20-some years later, official news confirms everything.... Yet nothing has changed. Some people will get it. Others never will, but you're not alone.
