What do you mean true narcissist? If my understanding of the term is correct, they’re incredibly selfish, rarely consider how things affect others, and will actively harm others if it helps them in some way or makes them appear better. The ones I’ve met and known aren’t good at hiding it at all. The only way they’re good at hiding is through technicality. They love taking hyper specific jabs at people so when the story is recalled after they push someone to beating their ass, they can cry wolf. Then they feel superior because even though they started it and then acted like a pussy after, in their mind they controlled you.

The Governor really won prize for “asshole of the year award” at the end. Even after all the harm the Governor caused Rick’s group, at the end, Rick swallowed his hate and stretched out his hand with a peaceful resolution that would’ve saved both groups. If Philip really wanted to see his group survive as he claims, he’d swallow his pride and accept the deal. But no, he just can’t get past his ego and personal feelings, and attacks, getting most killed. It kinda annoys me that Carl is so mad at Rick afterwards. Why? Rick did everything he could to prevent the fight and showed Philip a lot more mercy than Philip deserved and it was Philip alone who chose the violent attack anyway when it so easily could’ve been avoided. As I said - Philip - “prize winning asshole.”

The governor is the the dark version of Rick grimes. While Rick had his wife, son, and friends during the apocalypse, the governor had lost his family and had no real friends, just subordinates. He had to pretend to be someone else to be able to establish any relationships with others. People who saw his real self were very fearful and fell in line. The governor relied on being a monster because being the monster was his power so he couldn’t let go of that. He murdered other survivors in cold blood because he didnt want outsiders to live and because he wanted their resources. He represented what Rick would’ve easily become if Rick decided not to care anymore. Completely opposite of Rick who does things for the good of the people around him and only showed his brutality to protect his group. Who also established real meaningful relationships with those in his group. The governor had nobody truly because he only cared for his own gains, while Rick actually stepped down as a leader even though others wanted him to lead because ricks group had genuine likeness and respect, whereas the governor, people followed him out of fear and he even murdered Martinez and Pete for leadership because of his ego. Philip even mirrored Rick in presentation. Button up shirt with sleeves rolled up and tucked in, watch on left wrist, southern accent, both are leaders with a Dixon and a third guy as right hand men, cowboy boots and signature sidearms.

I truly don't understand why the fact that governor kept his dead daughter in the office is so bad. It has always been a question for me.
@Swell-Films Жыл бұрын
Hershel had come around to see keeping them around was wrong. The reason it’s seen that way, is because they don’t truly know what is left inside. Even if .1% of the person is still inside, it could be seen as torture to leave them alive. Michonne was of this belief, that’s why she kept her boyfriend as the pet, as punishment for him, and herself.

It is sad, he deserved to be atleast shown to the end of s6 Martinez was killed by him because he didn't want to be leader again, to make other atrocities happen (showing broken persona), as Martinez said : Maybe we can share the *crown* a little. Also screaming *I don't want, I don't want it* (he was trying to become changed man, but he knows that true leader would never ask to share the crown, otherwise it would show his incompetence.

In the comics Yes. But No in the series. In the series Phillip was his real name and he took the name Brian from some name on a wall when he was marching through some wasteland after losing the Woodberry. It's a pity that the guy didn't fix himself then because he had a chance with this new family and new identity. He tried to change at the beginning but eventually he started doing what he had done before, although whether he would be as angry as before if he had this new family with him is a moot point.

I feel like the governor keeping his daughter wasnt that disturbing. Grief is a powerful thing and i think it shows that hes not good at letting go of things that need to be let go of. Like, him sending people after Michone and how he still tries to attack the prison after the first defeat adds to this. You could even say that him keeping severed heads is also an example of him not being able to let go or move past things Edit: i also wonder if theres meant to be some nuance behind why andrea ends up trusting the governor over michone. Like, obviously hes manipulative, but i wonder if some unconscious racial bias had something to do with why she was willing to trust so quickly especially when michone (the person she had spent the winter with) said something was up with the place. Like wouldnt you trust that person over the guy you just met, even if he seems really nice?
@The-Black-Serpent-Syndicate5 ай бұрын
Nah your really reaching with that racist nonsense and looking at it from one side just like this whole vid was. She just almost starved and died form sickness so why the hell would she give up paradise just cos her friend doesn't like hanging out and working with folk but instead would rather choose to cut about the forest over her friend. Friendship goes both ways michone didn't listen to her and so she didn't listen to mashon. Being friends with someone dose not mean you should be brainless and let that person dictate your life. Michone showed no evidence for her wiled accusations of someone who's been nothing but nice to them and so you can't blame her friend for not wanting to throw here life away cos her friend doesn't like living good for a change. Andria may have chose a hot meal and bed over her friend but michone chose starvation and the forest life over hers so it goes both ways. You got to look at it from both sides and not just one. That place was nothing more then a hot meal and friendly faces if michone had just kept her long noes moral nonsense to herself before dragging a whole other group into it to fight the war she started for no reason.

Yeah you’re 100% right. That’s just one of those things you gotta suspend your disbelief for. It wouldn’t have been as big a deal if they didn’t have the saviours weaponize it in season 8

Andrea was an idiot the entire show. She almost killed darrel, continuously created social issues and she not only picked the governor to followbut shane even before that. Two murdering cowards who are not above hurting women and children for personal gain. Not only was she incapable and weak at the beginning but even after she became proficient at killing she stayed stupid. Until the bitter end.

Can someone explain to me why did the governor want the prison in the first place when he and they have a literal town?
@actrue97128 ай бұрын
Power
@buddyfett13417 ай бұрын
Safety and power. The Prison was built better to keep zombies out than a town. More land for farming in a safe area. The cell blocks could house more people, hold more storage. Power aspect, setting would help tear down followers' sense of individuality. Easy to lock up to anyone who questioned his authority.

Much more interesting than Negan because Negan was still a normal person before the outbreak happened, but it seems like the Governor was a time bomb and the outbreak made it worse.

Cool video. However, Penny was killed pre woodbury and Philip survived with his brother Brian and Philip's friends Bobby and Nick. Rise Of The Governor is the backstory of the comics version of this character, and the show version experienced a similar version of that backstory. Penny was a walker when he arrived at Woodbury, my theory is that he killed his brother after Brian tried to prevent Philip from feeding someone to Penny, whom Philip believed to still be alive.

Good catch! I’ve never actually read them even though I’ve had them for years. I should get them out one of these days

@@Swell-Films In s3, Michonne sees the names Brian, Bobby and Nick in Philips notebook. Also on a previous there was a note about sending an email, so that confirmed that he wasn't at Woodbury when the apocalypse began.

Actually Brian killed Phillip and took Philips persona in the book. He's not even the real mean tough brother he was weak and scared until he took over his younger brothers persona
@LightninLewis9 ай бұрын
@@householdgambler That happens in the comics universe, however the governor in the show universe is Philip Blake. Penny is his daughter, and the photo that he has of his family proves that.

Watching this makes you wonder what it would have been like if Glen Mazzara didn't choose to kill off Andrea. Like would Carol still end up being the same person she became as the seasons went on and would Andrea became more similar to how she was in comics?

What’s weird to me is we all seem to judge socio/psychopaths heavily. But…we all respond differently to trauma. If we lost everyone we cared about, who’s to say we’d be any different than they would? I know we all think we wouldn’t, but how do we know? Edit: yes, I’m aware they’re a threat. Of course they are. I’m not saying to pretend otherwise.

@@Shannon-vv6rr learn how to read. I didn’t say they weren’t a threat. And they should be treated as such. But guess what? Most of the ones on tv are deeply traumatized individuals. Let’s see how you respond to that. I have a feeling you’ll be a little bit of a “meanie weanie” yourself. Are you suggesting we immediately go nuclear the second you are?

Governor: 50% Jim Jones, 50% abusive husband type. Its cool that Carols the one that told Andrea to kill him because she knows his "brand" of monster when she sees one. I feel like the people who despise Andrea are ridiculous types that will blame the woman for not leaving a man like him who has his claws in her
