Nice breakdown of this pass. I (try to) use double unders with this finish a lot, something that clicked for me just now was when you said to have your neck/shoulder away from his knee. Makes perfect sense and I'll definitely pay more attention to that along with keeping the head up and driving in the upward curve motion. I also do a lot of knee cut passes and would be up for seeing your take on that, especially how you combo this into the knee cut.

Hi Professor, this is my go to pass every time. I have met with certain counters especially flexible guys who can fold the leg that is not over your shoulder inwards either onto your shoulder, chest or sometimes near the neck as a form of frame or potentially pushing you back with that foot. What should i do?

Slicing over the leg? You mean a switching from the stack pass to a knee slice pass?

25 years on the mats - Maybe I missed something but I didn't see the same old school pass as Helio does in the video. In Helio's video, the opponent's legs are closed and Helio puts a leg up to make space for his arm to go in. You started with the opponent's legs already open and passed with standard forward pressure. Helio reached in deep, got the opponent's leg to his shoulder (which is where everyone assumes they'll get triangled), and passed that way. Quite different, imo.

Ahh... I missed where you said that.

Not necessarily true. I learned this pass from Royce Gracie back in the day and Helio was right there with us on the mat at times with his input. We would break open the guard first as a rule.

yes, thats not the way its shown on the gracie basics by rorion back in the day.Rorion does break posture by dropping his head low.
