That seems like a cool thing for a metal drummer. Two bass drums, means you can't use the high hat. This allows you to use both kicks and a high hat.

Sir,you are a genius.i hope you have patented this design.You could then license it to a manufacturer and make lotsa money. I am SURE it would sell. I know I'd buy one. I wish I could make one myself, but like lots of folks I have neither the time or resources.Thanks again and keep up the good work.It's nice to see American ingenuity is still around.

Brilliant engineering! Just FYI: You can get 18" concrete tube forms that are a good 1/4" thick. They make great shells for future projects.

Nice! thank you, I'll remember that tip. I'm planning on building another kit with 18" shells to accommodate a standard 14" snare.

Awesome. I see a few things I would do differently, but that hit hat/bass pedal design is one of the best when it comes to "Cocktail" kits. Might make myself one and use my piccolo with it. Keep rockin man!

Such an elegant solution. And you're right about a 16" tom: pretty tough to fit a 14" snare in there. I just got a 13" to work, but had to search for the right butt and throw-off and swap out the usual drum-key bolts with regular Phillips-head ones.
@AndyGrahamProductions7 жыл бұрын
Hi John! Yes, I discovered the piccolo for 14" and standard for 16" shell afterward. Would have made my life easier. The 14" snare worked but I had to fix the throw to 'always on' for it to fit. The good thing is that there's no snare buzz from the bass drum below because of the wooden barrier.

i think you are on to something great ! I love cocktail kits and you are right..no hihat (open & close)!! glad you made something work.I would love to see you mount a tom like the cocktail kits have..and it would be complete and more functional.

I think you can perfect this to be fully functional, you should mount the hihats on the left and work in a ton on the center between the 2 cymbals. mount cowbell on right.
@AndyGrahamProductions8 жыл бұрын
I like the hat in the front/center because it makes the kit both left and right-handed.

Intreesting build. How did you make the rings inside the kit? Thanks.
@AndyGrahamProductions7 жыл бұрын
Hi buck! The rings were made from the same floor tom shells that I used to make the kit. I had 6" or so left over. I just cut off two 1-inch wide rings. Then, I cut out a section so that they would compress into the shell. Had to sneak up on it until they fit tight. Gorilla glued them in place, sandwiching the wood barrier in between.
@buckinjb7 жыл бұрын
Andy, thanks for taking time to reply. "Had to sneak up on it"...LOL I hear you brother. I take that you removed some material from the kick tom shell to lower the height....did you do the same of the snare tom shell? I take that the height is whatever feels best for the individual, but what is the overall length of the tom shell once built as one? Again, interesting build and thanks.

That's pretty neat. Unfortunately I have to completely re-design the linkage on my 5000 DW. I'm not impressed with it unlike most other DW products. This think is the most clangy hi hat ever so I'm gonna develope a lever linkage and reduce it 1:2 or something so it's more sensitive.

Hi there Andy , Mate I love the sound of your setup, did you experience any problem with vibrations from the Bass head into the snare at all? I created a electronic Cocktail kit if you will lol , I play it standing as well and sing lead - Have you thought of building these for sale? - Cheers ( i have some video on here as well )
@AndyGrahamProductions8 жыл бұрын
Hi Spence! The thin wooden divider works amazingly well. No snare buzz at all! I am developing a cable-driven hihat / bass drum pedal combo that will elimate the complex mechanism in the video. I'll post a video of it when I'm done. - andy
