This video was made for the presentation of the book "The Granada School of Guitar-makers" which was published in May, 2014. Manuel and José López Bellido talk about the origins of the modern school and Miles Roberts shares his experience of representing these guitars all over the world.

Lovely piece of film. I am a retired Luthier with a special interest in the Flamenco guitar. I will visit Granada soon & I want to track down the maker Rafael Morales if he is around. Does anyone have any info on him?

Chris, Here is some information on Rafael Morales: www.foroflamenco.com/printable.asp?m=57538&mpage= As for the guitar you see, made by Rafael Moreno you can see the tap plate clearly at 00:40. The headstock is the one he has used for some time now. Yes, spruce and cypress classicals can be very good.

Is this Rafael a spruce topped/cypress classical or a flamenco minus the plates? Sounds like it could play either style.Headstock shape also unfamiliar. I know little about this maker and would like to know if anyone has any insight into his earlier guitars.Does he speak English? I really love a spruce/cypress classical.They are very under rated and hard to find unless much older and built by the greats of years past. Found a Rodriguez but it was $44,000,00..Someone must still make them that sound incredible yet somewhat affordable. Joe
