This was prophetic by Andy here at 21:44 - because in their recent special Eurocrash (June 2023) there is a scene where Clarkson gets into a F1 style sports car, and is too fat to compete in the drive around the track, with Hammond mercilessly mocking Clarkson for being too fat and obese. And then they literally had to take the car apart to get Clarkson out, as he was stuck in it. So August 2016 prediction from Andy was 100% correct.

Love Top Gear and Amazon's Grand Tour. A car show in 4K makes totally sense because of the extra beautiful detail of great cars, country landscapes, and the real world. 4K is not for viewing the person's hair. I wish all of Top Gear was done in 4K, however, Top Gear got better and better as the cars and nature could be captured in all its splendor. Ask National Geographic and the NFL what 4K brings.

11:20 - I said exactly this back in 2015, Jeremy Clarkson should have been suspended without salary for six months. He should have also been fined by the BBC and compensation paid. After a six month suspension, Jeremy should have rejoined Hammond and May and relaunched a new series of Top Gear with a Christmas Special in 2016 and a new season in January 2017. BBC didn't do it - I wonder why????
@kjaxky4 жыл бұрын
Because he's a 25% legal partner with the other 2 and Andy but his ego is outsized . I'm sure 75% of the firm (andy, may, Richard, ) wanted that but the minority owner Jeremy got his way., as a result they lost out big to things like , trashing a bbc office building , a supermarket set for a defunct TV series, access to top celebs, who are there to promote their projects on other bbc shows . While I love w chump and sons productions, and the team of 4 , I don't understand why Jeremy screwed everyone of his partners. That said I do like The Grand Tour, yet there is no way Amazon would and could match the grandness of what bbc provided. Or really understand television , even now it's easier to find shows on Netflix than it is shows that actually exist on Prime TV, without searching , then clicking and finally the you may also like will show you what you would have watched if it was easier to find.

Just from this interview alone I think you can see the dynamic between Top Gear and the BBC Directors during the final years of Clarkson. The coldness, the demand to be as inclusive and politically correct to the point where the personality of the presenters were at risk to please the people at the top rather than for the viewers. You look at what was successful at the end of the 2000s on the BBC and compare them to the end of the 2010s; Doctor Who, Top Gear etc. have all paled in comparison and are still living off of what made them great than being ambitious. The moto Top Gear under Clarkson and Wilman was always "Ambitious, but rubbish" and people liked the charm as it wasn't the best, but 110% effort was always put in by everyone involved. It gets to the point now where the current crop of Top Gear presenters are just re-hashed versions of May, Hammond and Clarkson...
