Totally agree not to mention he played the most violent position too as a lineman your getting hit every play and that was an entirely different era the protective equipment wasn’t as good the rules werent catered toward protecting high value high dollar players it was smash mouth dirty football at its peak it was also an era where they knew nothing about concussions and TBI and also then drugs and steroids were rampant in the locker room looks the NFL didn’t start any kind of testing till 1987 so those guys were doing whatever taking whatever and getting injected with whatever that would keep them in the game even if they were hurt now head injuries are taken much more seriously because these players are such a massive investment and the massive $760 million lawsuit they had to pay out back when I played when you got your bell rung you might sit out a play or series and your right back in I’ve actually have heard of college and pro players will grab another area of their body when they do get hit in the head to hide the head injury or concussion because they don’t want to come out and likely miss multiple weeks after so they hide it. No doubt in my mind he had CTE and his body was probably shot from all the wear and Tear he probably needed the medication just to function after all that that’s crazy though never knew he was a #1 overall that’s impressive for a lineman still so young though RIP

@billwe5772 Man that brings back so many memories. They were such a cool family. But the losses were just tragic and almost unbelievable. On the upside, I will never forget meeting Fritz when I was a kid. He used to come into my father's hardware store all the time. Funny story, but one Saturday, Fritz had "borrowed" the live bear that they wrestled with sometimes. We saw him get out of his vehicle and he was laughing hysterically as he walked into the back door of the barber shop across the street. I had never seen so many grown men, yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs as they fought to get out the front door of that place. He bought the bear by later and the thing was just like a gigantic dog. Thanks for the reminder of the good ole days!!!

Back in the late 1960s, three Boys went to explore a cave in Hannibal Missouri and disappeared without a trace, despite a massive search in the caves and surrounding areas, they were never found, it would be a good one for you check out the locations. There's a memorial to them near lovers leap in Hannibal.

The "Tooz" was in North Dallas Forty, along with Mac Davis. At the wrap party, Mac was talking to the director. Tooz walked up and told Mac, "I really like your shirt." Mac gave him a quick "Thanks" and resumed talking to the director. Tooz then placed his hand on top of Mac's head and said "I really like your hair." Telling the story on Johnny Carson, Mac said "At this point I became very worried about my safety, but then Tooz laughed and walked away."

It’s funny because although I’ve never watched a lot of football I do know some of the older football players names. My ex-husband did watch all kinds of sports, and new the players names, so I got to hear about them. John’s name was one name I’d heard on multi occasions. Then when Goonies came out I didn’t even realize who it was playing that character! Lol
