47:16 Yeah, Zak's right here. In the first game's second case Sholmes claims that a poisonous snake bit Kazuma, but he already knew at that time that Kazuma wasn't even dead. In the fourth case of that game, you find him staring out the Garridebs' window at the crime scene below-- he'd already figured out what happened and decided to make up some bullshit about a lion. It's all been an exercise to mentor Ryu. Hence the "You've hit upon the method at last" comment at the end of the previous case. The alternative explanation is that Sholmes is used to Mikotoba being quick enough on his feet to jump in and steer his argument in the right direction. Ryan's too slow on the uptake for that, and hence why he needs Sholmes to repeat the argument before he can course correct it. This whole segment is so cathartic. "No more games now." After two games of slower-paced Dances of Deduction, you get to see Holmes and his original "Watson" wombo combo a fool in record time.

Even in the Dance of Deduction Ad for this very game, Sholmes recognises the 2 in the logo as Snake, always calling back to the speckled band, he is.

Adding on the Kazuma's "death" part, he was the one to raise the fact that Kazuma's fist was clenched in the photo, and thus meant he was holding something, and then presents what he was holding. Not only he knew Kazuma wasn't dead, but he knew from the start that Ryunosuke had nothing to do with it.

I love that Iris specifically told Ryunosuke to pull on the ear as hard as he could knowing what that would do to Herlock. Methinks that’s a bit of revenge on her part for all the dad nonsense.

With the conclusion of the, in my opinion, best Dance of Deduction in the game, plus having a new viewpoint character for an entire section of this final case... I think my liking of Yujin Mikotoba and the HomuMiko ship (Yujin x Herlock) has finally shown its main roots and gotten validated. Plus, what a banger of a track that dance was. Partners - The game is afoot! might as well be a masterpiece and a fitting music as part of this duology's grand finale.

It is not because he is making mistake. 3 years are the gap between Great Ace Attorney 1 and 2 original Japanese 3DS release. So, in this last dance of deduction. Holmes asking you the player how much you have learn from his teaching you. A bit lean on 4th wall break.

Ive always taken it as a little of both with sholmes' genius. He knows the correct answer, but his outlandish steps to reach the conclusion is his own hubris getting in the way. Meanwhile, for ryan to become a great lawyer, he needs practice in observation and deduction, so sholmes feels he can get away with more outlandish accusations than normal, in part to make the mistakes more obvious. Meanwhile, Mikotoba is sholmes' long time partner. They operate on the same wavelength, with enough mutual trust. Mikotoba knows of sholmes' imagination, and knows when to but it with the conclusion sholmes himself cant properly vocalize, whilst sholmes trusts mikotoba to vocalize the points he cant find the words for. Sholmes cant dance alone, but loves to lead. Mikotoba knows how to keep it flowing naturally, ryan leans more towards leading, so he cant bounce off in the same way (instead needing to correct the bigger picture) which shows itself more as sholmes' end conclusions become ever farther from the original proposed answer and ryan able to lead a section solo to cover a development sholmes did not cover, leaving only iris as a potential dance partner as the one who first fixes his errors before re-fantasizing them for the public in a way that makes coherent sense even if the facts dont line up with reality. Mikotoba shows sholmes' brilliance despite his trouble vocalizing it (partners), ryan follows sholmes' lead to the logical conclusion in spite of the fantastical elements (interpreter), and iris makes sholmes' fiction a coherent reality by understanding the underlying truth and where it separates from his fantastical retelling (narrator). All 3 are valid partners for sholmes' dances, but each executes the dance a different way with who leads and what elements get the focus.

I love how this deduction proves Sholmes knew the truth in every deduction every time but he knew there was time to mess around so he used it as an opportunity to test Ryunosuke's powers of deduction. Like for the one in Drebber's workshop one of the first thing Sholmes did was investigate the time bomb, and right after Ryunosuke puts everything together he disarms it

I read it more that Mikotoba was much better at working with Sholmes scatterbrained genius than Sholmes messing around with Ryan. Like because Mikotoba isn't there the first time in all the other cases Sholmes reaches the wrong answer but since they're both working together here they both get the right answer. In summary Sholmes can't dance alone.

Well if you get something wrong as mikotoba sholmes gives you a hint as to the right answer. Plus he says 'no games now' implying every other dance was just a game to him and he was getting them wrong on purpose. So he definitely can dance alone

Of course he's capable but he's clearly more prone to bumbling without his partner. Like he's clearly very smart but there's gotta be a reason why every dance with Ryan is listed as a "correction" during the part where Ryan takes part while his experience with Mikotoba is listed as only a deduction. And the most sensible conclusion is that with his partner he gets it right the first time. And remember even during the sequence with Mikotoba he makes a number of mistakes like forgetting how long it's been since the last time they worked together after correctly saying it was 10 years a few lines before. Makes it much more likely Mikotoba and Sholmes are actually a really competent team than Sholmes fucking around lackadaisically until the very end. @@acario100

If I remember well Sholmes always got directly into the conclusions. And all they were the right conclusions, but with the wrong explanations. So I think they were all just Sholmes fooling around. To test and train Ryan in the art of deduction.

“Will the real Herlock Sholmes please stand up?” I am so sad I missed this last week (I am a youtube lurker) since this is my favorite moment of the entire game, seeing how Herlock has actually been ahead of everybody the entire time, just pretending to be an idiot for the sake of training Ryounosuke in the art of deduction. Everything about this dance is amazing: the fact that there’s no corrections, the fact that Sherlock is literally goading Mikotoba into the deductions, Tchikin and Biv, and of course, the amazing song AND THE TAP DANCING. TAP DANCING! (This is why I remarked on Zak’s “Dance for me Wes” a couple episodes earlier, there was an opportunity for that to come back here) Also, Iris was capable of creating a semi-sentient plushie with walkie talkie capabilities just so she could have Runo pull Herlock’s ears. Absolutely her plan.
