The Great Britain Loco Swap Carlisle 19 04 2024

Day 7 of the Great Britain rail tour saw two Black 5 locomotives arrive in Carlisle from Edinburgh. Here they were exchanged for Battle of Britain Class locomotive Tangmere for the onward journey to Liverpool. A little difficulty with uncoupling the buckeye coupling and then the Black 5's headed out to Carnforth, soon after Tangmere came from Upperby yard and made a slippery departure with what looked like a good shove from the rear judging by the acceleration of the train.
